Thank you so much for doing this video! I'm getting ready to order this Surge kit in a few days, so now I know what to expect when putting it together! Would love a one year review of how you like the kit so far.
Thank you for this unboxing. I just picked up this kit and I was able to fit everything into my very small car after unboxing the thing in the parking lot.
Just today assembled mine, and let me tell you, it was a bear. I can assemble some ikea shit blindfolded but this was another level. It’s like 3D chess. What you have to be sure about is the top center bar is curved, and is not rotated correctly when it’s tied to the legs then the center legs will never, and mean never be parallel. And if they are not then they will throw off the outer legs when you put those curved bars in. You can see what I am talking about here look at the leg in the back on our left, see how it’s cocked inward Secondly your curved bars are upside down. The adjustment knob is supposed to be facing you so you can adjust them (the pads) when you are sitting at the set. The way they are now you have to reach around them. Dang near impossible when loaded. Now you got to take those curved bars out and rotate them left end to right end. And finally the night of the crossbars brackets on each pole better be the same or again, it’s going to be crooked as a dc politician Now that is know what I’m doing I’m going to take it all apart, and do it again to get stuff aligned right 1 minute ago
man I'm sure glad I read your comment, It seems to me like you're the one that should have done the video Cause I'm cause I'm sure I already know how to open cardboard boxes and other than that he really doesn't show you anything that's not blindly obvious I'm curious about things like are all of them connectors Using a hex key To tighten them down, He definitely needs to include a lot more details I noticed at the end of this video he says hes gonna review the amp that you can buy to go with this kit, But it's been a year since he posted this one and there are no other videos on his channel So I'm guessing maybe sweet water took a look at this one decided to not not sponsors him any longer idk I also just bought this very same kit I ordered mine through Guitar Center And I'm getting Ready to open it up So Hey thanks for the input information pretty sure it will be more helpful than his video was lol
Hey I just got mine and am trying to figure out the same thing ..the inward bending legs ..is that fixable or what do you suggest ,if you can spare a minute
Also the manufacturer suggest you use the plastic side of the beatter not the felt side on the kick. The felt side will ruin the mesh head. Do ur research.
well they might look kind of alike, but for one thing the surge uses all dual zone (makes 2 different sounds) pads, and also, the rack for the surge is quite a bit stouter, less prone to any type of wobbles, and the surge kit has a larger library of built in drum sets and individual sounds. This is why the nitroset is classified as a beginner set By Alesis, and the Surge as an intermediate set
I don't know if you will see this comment before long but I just gor the exact same kit and i have a problem ...the front bars that the toms are on those 2 legs that support the cross bar are crooked they bend inward and I can't figure out how to straighten them out ..if you are able to offer any help on figuring out how to fix that I would really appreciate it
Brother I am from India I have subscribe your channel and I will tell to my friends.... And you please tell me about this electric drum please I have a request to you
@@cjmmjc2131 I've replaced several of my drum clamps with "Strike" clamps so I can remove them without having to loosen the frame and take the tube loose.
@@kschantz info on these strike clamps. I think the top bar, judging by pictures on the official site, just need to be flipped so the clamping screws point outside, same with the sides.
@@indigo0086 Right. My point being that the Surge clamps cannot be removed or flipped without taking the tube frame apart. This is because the Surge clamps are not hinged and have to be slid off the tube. The Strike clamps are hinged and can be removed without having to disassemble any of the tube frame. I bought an entire 2nd Surge tube frame on eBay and added it to my existing Surge frame. I also bought a second Surge drum module. I have two Horizontal tubes in all three sections. I have 6 toms: four - 8" Alesis pads for the highs and mids, and two - 10" (Alesis Snare) pads as floor toms. I replaced my Alesis 10" snare with a Roland PD-125 - 12" Snare. I have one Alesis DMPad 16" ride cymbal, three Alesis DMPad 14" crash cymbals, three Alesis DMPad 12" cymbals used as splash, china, and an extra ride. I also upgraded my hi-hat to a DMPad 12" cymbal and added a Roland BT-1 Pad as a cow bell. I'm not using any of the original Surge cymbals. Having the dual horizontal tube setup has strengthened the frame and allowed me to position most of the pads where I want them, but I had to add three cymbal boom stands to get the cymbals exactly where I want them. With the original Surge clamps, If I needed to move any single pad, I would have to take the frame sections loose and have someone hold the frame up while I removed all the other pads between the pad I want to move and the end of the tube so I could slide the clamp off. I could also just remove the pad and move all the other pads over in that direction but I'd still have to disassemble the frame to get the remaining unused clamp iff. With the Strike clamps, I can just remove and move the pad I want to move without disrupting the entire kit. I keep meaning to do a video showing the mods I've made to my kit. Maybe some day.

Thank you for your video! My husband and I had fun building with you! So excited to use ours.
No Robert. You are the brains of the operation.
Trading my nitro kit in for this kit today!! Can’t wait! Thankyou for this awesome video! We will be using this to assemble ours!!

Bound to buy one cause I wanna bang on some stuff. Thanks for this.
This was very helpful! Mine is supposed to arrive today. Watching this video will definitely help me set it up faster. Thanks!
Mine comes tomorrow! What do you think of the kit 3 months later?
good video to understand how boxex packed in big box )
Mine lasted about 4 days. I'm hoping they will exchange it. I'm taking the Alesis Strike 12 out of my cart, they obviously have quality issues.
thanks for doing this. Im more visual and I suck at going off instructions ha
Thanks for not saying a damn thing thru this tutorial, exactly what i was looking for.
The left and right curved crossbars are on correct, the top bar is upside down

Great advice!!
Do you know how much floor space (length X depth) this kit takes? I’m trying to figure out if it will fit in my room. Thank you.
Same! Mine arrives tomorrow...
@@justfantoms Is your kit arriving tomorrow? That is exciting! If you get a chance I’d like to know how much floor space it occupies.
@@nico3641 yeah, I will let you know!!
@@nico3641 so it's 110x100 cm or 43.31x39.37 in, but you can expand more to the sides.
@@justfantoms thank you for the info. Are these the dimensions once assembled? Are you gonna post videos of you playing?
The 3 cymbals aren't the same !! one is single zone, the other two are choke-able ..... where goes the single zone ?

Your drum mounting brackets are upside down.
Yep, and that will require him to have to damn near take the entire thing apart to turn the bar over
