Expert Voices: Estrela de FURA: 55.22

In 2017, FURA Gems began its journey in Mozambique and today holds nine ruby mining licenses in the country. Deeply committed to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, FURA is the fastest growing colored gemstone mining company in the world, with sister emerald and sapphire mines in Colombia and Australia. In July of 2022, FURA miners in Montepuez discovered something they never had expected to find - a remarkably transparent, stunningly vivid rough ruby weighing a staggering 101 carats that was dubbed ‘Estrela de FURA,’ or Star of FURA in Portuguese. Unveiled in Dubai in September 2022, the Estrela de FURA quickly garnered the attention of the world as the largest gem-quality ruby ever discovered.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Estrela de FURA will be allocated toward setting up the FURA Training Academy, with the goal of promoting access to education and technical training in the fields of mining, engineering, carpentry and agriculture. Sotheby’s is pleased to partner with this forward-thinking company to bring the Estrela de FURA: 55.22 to market.
The remarkable Estrela de FURA will be offered as a part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction on 8 June at Sotheby’s New York as a part of luxury week.

Hello, good morning, you know, I collect raw stones. Here I have a Ruby of more than 400 carats and some more than 300. 200 and 100 are hexagonal but the light penetrates into their interior and it looks beautiful. Some are from Mozambique, Madagascar and Mogok. The bad thing is that I am not an expert in gemology. I only collect and I am looking for an expert to guide me in this possible collecting career. They are pigeon blood red.
