As the Estrela de Fura is showcased in Geneva as the highlight of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels, learn more about how the finished ruby was cut and polished from a 101-carat rough. The ruby was unearthed in Montepuez, Mozambique, in July 2022. Already in its wild, untouched state, it was considered by experts as an exceptional treasure of nature for the combination of its fluorescence, outstanding clarity, incredible size and vivid red hue. The unique quality of the stone was further confirmed by International Gem Laboratories, which certified the exceptional quality of the stone, including Gubelin, SSEF, GRS, AGL and Bellerophon Gem Lab.
