- Preview of SSS update 19. New option to enable the volumetric effect on all non-directional lights ( Flashlights, bonfires, etc. ), optimizations to greatly improve the performance of the effect and extra options to customize the effect.

It's always hard to believe what you make this engine do. You really are a miracle worker. Looks beautiful.
I'm not doing much here. Just some modifications to the code and shader to improve performance. But, the volumetric lights are already implemented on the engine.
@ascii1457 the results always add so much. All the tweaks add up to an experience that trumps so many other experiences out there. It really is amazing what you and the other dedicated community members have accomplished.

Yes
Always wondered why there's not more moving physics (flags/chains/lights etc). It's not like the engine doesn't have good physics code.

@@PAUL8558most likely the knowledge they've had at time wasn't sufficient enough. This was made from 1999 to 2006. Having 17 years to watch modding transform and grow gives developers a ton of time to learn and look deeper.

With the default values the effect is very performance friendly... There's even a lower preset ( obviously at cost of visual fidelity ) to make the effect lighter.

Well... It blend extremely well with any extra effect. Just like the rain.

Anomaly no es popular por mi trabajo, siempre ha sido un mod muy llamativo gracias al trabajo sobresaliente de los desarrolladores de Anomaly, yo solo he agregado algunos detalles ahora ultimo. Sobre tu pregunta, utilizo Visual Studio Code para programar los shaders y Visual Studio para el motor.
@@ascii1457 Si obvio , no quise quitarle protagonismo a los desarrolladores , pero si es verdad que gracias a tu mod es que , por lo menos yo , siempre vuelvo a instalar algun modpack como EFP o GAMMA.

Would it be possible to tie the intensity of the effect based on weather configs like fog? I modified config files to re-enable the volumetric headlamps for NPCs only in base Anomaly (since the flag that's supposed to disable it for actor doesn't work), and while it's a great looking effect during rain or fog it's a bit silly when the weather is clear.
Yes. I'm going to add that option later.
What are the differences for optimization? Like was it a noticeable FPS boost in areas or ?
The optimizations are only for volumetric lights.

Es totalmente posible, pero no tiene mucho sentido hacerlo... Mucho mejor seria gastar ese tiempo en optimizar lo que actualmente existe.
