There's something really interesting about Aegon's expressions and behavior during his argument scene with Otto. When Otto talks about the rat-catchers being "fathers and brothers and sons" and their relatives gathering to "weep and curse your name", he turns away from Otto, looks down and seems upset and regretful, like he can't even face him at that moment. Otto then moves to talking about the funeral as a political move "with your mother's tears we bought their approval..." and Aegon raises his head and seems angry, then confronts him "At least I did something. I did not answer injury to the crown with what? Wailing?!" I think it's clear that he can empathize with the families of the rat-catchers he ordered to be killed, especially as he does both things Otto mentioned: he weeps (at the end) and he curses Rhaenyra's name. I think that if Otto leaned on empathy when making his argument instead of politics and PR moves (which Aegon has a clear distaste for), Aegon would actually listen to him, instead of firing him.
i think you're right here, you can see Aegon is absolutely not all mad but very misguided. if Otto has leaned on think of your mother and your wife in their sorrows too etc rather than bringing it back up that he used his grandsons death as a political move when Aegon is clearly heartbroken over it was a poor choice of words for sure!!
I don't think aegon much as cares about the families but more that he cares that they now hate him as he thrived off of the attention and love they gave him as the king now hes lost that .
Yes, Viserys and Alicent had a fourth child, Prince Daeron the Daring. Since he's the youngest son, (likely around the same age as Lucerys), he's currently serving in Oldtown as a squire to Otto's nephew. It's not only 'fictonal show'. This show was inspired by actual historical events. There are elements of medieval English kings and Egyptians Pharaohs in Targaryens story, Rhaenyra herself seems like mix of Matilda, claimant to English throne, and Pharaoh Cleopatra the Great. Dance of the Dragons is basically fantasy version of anarchy war between Matilda and Stephen (and I personally see also many paralles with Cleopatra battling her younger half-siblings). So it's not at all 'oh, they are all fictional and it just fun, no side are saint'. Yes, no side is saint, but there is idealistic side of this: if someone supports Greens they are basically saying they support all this time when woman was usurped because of her gender, they support that Matilda's throne was stolen and that Cleopatra's throne was almost stolen. Supporting Team Black is to me not simply supporting Rhaenyra, but supporting all those women who historically fought for whar rightfully belongs to them. Yes, Rhaenyra has flaws - but so all other people who exist, both men and women, and flaws of character does not alter person's rights. (Love your reactions, this is simply small disagreement from my side. I am bit idealistic soul 💜💜💜)
awh i really love your comment and your youtube handle haha! as a big fan of the Merlin series and newly fan of star wars i very much love haha! i honestly personally agree with everything you just said too but i too, am an idealist lol
@@nataschasummers Thank you! I am fan of both, Morgana and Padme were my favourite characters in each series respectively 💗💗💗. Basically what we saw in Merlin was mini Dance of Dragons, especially since Morgana had dragon too. Uther lied to Morgana about her paternity to give throne to his son (and probably to avoid exposing fact he betrayed his closest companion and presumably also his own wife; his honour being more important to him than love for his daughter), but it might be different if she was a son. Uther had Morgana before Arthur, but he pursues magic to have 'son'. Uther is adamant to hide forever Morgana's ancestry 'for Arthur's sake', which implies Morgana would be ahead of Arthur, as elder one, if truth would ever come out. However in Morgana's case her being potential rigthful heir doesn't make her better - she turned out to be ruthless and unable to win people's love during her reign, while Arthur was indeed good and competent king. But Morgana is tragic character who at beggining of show is better than any of other characters - morally right and perfect Queen material - it is only what happens future that make her descent into path of darkness and Merlin and Uther are both responsible for this.
"Rhaenyra is gonna be so annoyed over daemon"....aww poor daemyra breakup 🥹. That's also my main concern when my side murders a child. But anyway Criston saw that blood soakes empty crib and the shot cut to Rhaenyra playing games with her kids. Anything Criston did after that is understandable.
yeah i had to cut that bc copyright but i had the same sentiment about the comparsions between that and then switching to Rhaenyra and her kids was so gut wrenching!
Aegon is still young and emotional. Otto has no emotions or feelings at all, for him the most important thing is the good of the kingdom and Hightowers. Additionally, Targaryens are not very good at dealing with emotions :D
My main take away from this was how big of a fan Natascha is of Ser Criston Cole... And Kings Landing is hiring rat catchers now! Several open positions!
Another wonderful reaction! Fantastic cosplay, looking forward to the next one. Honestly wonder what's going to happen to Cole lol, what a scumbag lmao

8:39 Um…yes they did actually start the fight with Aemomd. When Aemond claimed the dragon Baela, Luke, and Jake all confronted him and attacked him. In fact Baela threw the first punch. There isn’t some written in stone rule that that was HER dragon. So what if it was her mother’s? Fortune favors the bold. The dragon ACCEPTED Aemond as its rider-it could have burnt him to a crisp…or was the dragon supposed to wait for Baela? I mean they are intelligent creatures who can make up their own minds. Like the dead king said, “we don’t control the dragons. It’s an illusion.”
for me personally it was Aemond who started it.. aha.. it had been like no time at all, he came in with zero empathy for this cousins having lost their mother and was literally taunting them about it - those girls had done nothing to Aemond but he loved to cry about how he was taunted by his brother and uncles didn't he? Baela threw the first punch why? because he knocked her sister to the ground after Rhaena shoves Aemond for nastily taunting them about their dead mom. Then he threatens to feed her to his dragon if she dare get back up.... Luckily the strong boys aren't having that, Aemond thinks he's billy big balls, keep taunting them about their parentage and tells Lucerys he'll burn like this father while strangling him and holding a rock to his head...... Aemond got what he deserved, and then still walked away with Vhagar....I do not feel bad for him 🤣
Actually Rhaena charged at Aemond but he easily shoves her hard to the ground causing fight to become even more worse it caused Baela to punch him in the face, and he quickly punches her back really hard in the face.
@@nataschasummers The reason was like you said Rhaena charged at Aemond was because he said vile things about their mother who is dead. Also after Aemond punched Baela through the face he continued saying rude things so he was asking for been sliced in the eye.

8:39 - Technically they actually did start the fight on him. They attacked him first and he responded each time. True he did provoke them with insults but as far as self defense goes the ones who hit first are the aggressors which makes him the assaulted party by definition. Not saying he's not to blame, but he wasn't the one to throw the first punch just saying.
Not just insults it was vile insults people should respect the dead. Actually Aemond started the fight with his vile insults and because he shoved Rhaena to the ground really hard after she tried to charge at him so he was the first to hurt someone that caused the fight to become way worse it caused Baela to punch Aemond in the face and then he punched her really hard in the face and continued with vile insults so he basically was asking to get sliced in the eye.
@@WarNeverChanges9191 Aemond only said that the girls mother was dead, not nice but not strictly an insult in itself. His main insult was telling them to have Luke and Jace get them a Pig which was more childish looking back. And even then he wasn’t the one to throw the first blow so he can’t really be called the the one who started hurting physically. Rhaella charged at him trying to shove him so she made the first aggressive move so Aemond shoving her back was a self defense move, also don’t see how him shoving her makes him the one who caused injury first? It was only a shove that threw her to the ground not really something that caused serious injury injury. The first actually harmful thing was Baela’s punch which he then responded with his own, pretty much each time he was attacked he responded to what he was attacked with. Also as I recall his insult afterwards were more threats which again were after they hit him first.
@@maniacguy7899 True that he was not technically the first to throw a punch but he did say stupid things that cause the fight to break out in the first place, I would also be angry if someone took something that once belonged to my mother and yes I know that the dragons is optainable but still it was her mothers before it became Aemonds dragon.
nah he posted the job openings on Indeed the next day, oddly no humans turned up..... but that one dog did and he's doing a 12/10 job....or so i heard...
And Aemond did shove one of Daemons daughters to the ground and hit one of them with a fist through the face and then called Luke and Jace bastards which started the fight to become more serious. (Yes I do know Luke and Jace are bastards)
im in debates about this 🤣 i do half agree, buttttt he antagonised them massively and he was the first to throw someone down yannooooo so that also half counts righhhhtt? 🤣👀
@@WarNeverChanges9191 False, yes technically true, but the way you put them makes it seem like Aemond started the fight. One of Daemons daughters first charged at him first, she showed the first sign of aggression, so he pushed her in self defense. Then Daemons other daughter punched him in the face, and then that is when and why the fight escalated.

8:40 technically they did start the fight with Aemond, but he definitely escalated it.
what do you expect him to do? Walk away?
@@rohanshende4338 right? Every one is incapable of empathising with the boy in that moment.
Additionally, Targaryens are not very good at dealing with emotions :D
agree, agree and agree again aha!
Damn you Cole!! especially if we take into account that because of him two honorable Knights died
literally 😭
My main take away from this was how big of a fan Natascha is of Ser Criston Cole...
And Kings Landing is hiring rat catchers now! Several open positions!
so glad my emotions came across to transparently xoxoxoxoxo
Otto brought 100 cats to the red keep, to replace the ratcatchers
Another wonderful reaction! Fantastic cosplay, looking forward to the next one. Honestly wonder what's going to happen to Cole lol, what a scumbag lmao
awh thanks so much nadeem, always lovely to see you in the comments and glad you like the fit haah!
Oh noooo,,,, just remembered!!! Only 24hrs late but still mde it,, c'mon Hotd,, let's go.....x
hypocrisy is only bad if you don't feel guilty when you fail to live up to the virtues you claim are important. crispy and alicent are constantly feeling guilty about what they do. doesn't invalidate the importance of those virtues. just means they are human.
loved when aegon destroyed Viserys lego set. Viserys spent more time on the dam lego set than his won children.
i mean to be fair 🤣 honestly im glad i didn't react publicly to series one bc i gave that man soooo much flack that i am now realising was sooo unwarranted 🤣😭
I think they dont hire you for the show because you would be the prettiest Targaryen
Best intro so far 😂😂
you know, i try. big thanks to fred for the comical interruption 🤣
We needed otto hiring 100 cats. Cats that would sire ser pounce, a proper fellow and teach arya to be sproingy.
@@WarNeverChanges9191 yeah I know why he pushed her to the ground, it was the fact she was coming towards him AFTER he totally antagonised them 😂
@@nataschasummers The reason was like you said Rhaena charged at Aemond was because he said vile things about their mother who is dead. Also after Aemond punched Baela through the face he continued saying rude things so he was asking for been sliced in the eye.
Awesome reaction. They could also have Helena identify the rat catcher, just saying... and I also thing that the good Erik dyed 1st since he was the one with the gash in his thy.
omg why did i not think of that - THIS is why i love youtube and building a community. why was that not my first thought and i think you are the first to raise it in the comments, he absolutely could have had Helaena identify him 😨
Hey Natascha, I know of another Summers who I would happily watch along to with your reaction. A famous Summers! Buffy Summers. Aka; Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She is the chosen one, so it shall be written. So it shall be done. Maybe you're related?
i would definitely consider myself related to buffy 🤣💖

@@maniacguy7899 worst of all he continued insulting which resulted in him loosing his eye.
Also Rhaenyra is not a skilled fighter at all so her staying down on the floor was probably the best option atm
yeah fair, i kinda just wanted her to get up and run ahha
@@nataschasummers I understand that if you are in danger run.
Helaena doesnt deserve any of this :(
I can't decide if I'm Team Cole or Team Frederico.

Think of how bad the rats will get now
nah he posted the job openings on Indeed the next day, oddly no humans turned up..... but that one dog did and he's doing a 12/10 job....or so i heard...
In the book, Otto bought a lot of cats to replace the rat catchers, Arya tried to catch one of their descendants in Game of Thrones.
Rip Erryk & Arryk 😑
😭😭😭😭
Aemond got attacked first back at driftmafk.
Yes then Aemond said the following for all to hear "It was a fair exchange I might have lost an eye but I gained a dragon".
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
