I love Otto! All the small face movements and words he uses. Everything is cold but very calculated! You see the gears turning when he's just staring there looking at you. He's the standout to me hands down !
@@funnylilgalreacts As fragile as she is, I don't know that she can recover from the trauma of what has happened. I think we're all heartbroken for Haelena, one of the few truly likeable people in the realm.
@@LuxLoser Absolutely can be. There is no hard evidence in the show or the books to suggest that a dragon has some supernatural bond to its rider and will not accept another if they are alive halfway across the world, it's only a theory.
@Cuprous-ne5ss yes there is every dragon ever claimed has been riderless when claimed, and there absolutely is proof of a psychic bond between them and their dragon we have seen if several times from drogon saving Dany in the fighting pits, syrax has felt rhaenyras pain several times and caraxes could feel it when daemon was shot and even raised his wing after daemon raised his arm to block the arrows. They have to have some connection to b able to proficiently use them in war.
Thanks. I was wondering if that was Seasmoke and if Alyn Hull was Korlys' illegitimate son. I wondered if that scene foreshadowed Adam Hull claiming the dragon.
It's what happens when relationships are freely chosen Vs being imposed on you. Maybe it's not an excuse but Alice became a mother as part of a plan. Rhaenyra, Strong and Laenor were all there for Jace and Luke. You see how starved for affection both Aegon and Aemond are.
@@funnylilgalreacts You mean after Rhaenyra took WEEKS of traveling and tracking down Luke's body to process her grief? While Aegon, Alicent, and Helaena have had like... 2 days by the end of the episode?
Reminds me of a line that Rodrik Harlaw says in the main books but it's reversed. "I prefer my history dead. Dead history is writ in ink, the living sort in blood."
@funnylilgalreacts You do something that I don't see many reactors (reacters?) do, you often talk to the camera and in effect you are including us, the viewers in the conversation. I appreciate that. Love your content. (and your empathy)
5:39 Funny enough they actually were going to. Corlys and Daemon were amassing armies to fight for Rhaenys and Viserys respectively, and that's what made King Jaehaerys call the Great Council.
Otto might be a bastard but he’s not wrong. This show does a good job of showing how people not being willing to make the tough choices just makes everything worse on the long run.
That's a true but that also goes 100% for him as well since he didn't make the hard choice of getting over his greedy ambition and selfishness to honor the king wishes as he intended over his own wants. And now look what happens. His words comes right back at him let's be fair
As much as I hate Otto, him being like: "This situation is shit, but we have to do the best we can now" is admirable, if shitty. Also Aegon crying at the end was just heartbreaking. He is exactly what Otto worried Daemon would be. Impulsive, quick to act and slow to think. For all his sins he is still a believable character and him breaking down is just top notch acting.
Otto is the forever pragmatic person, always thinking politics and compartmentalizing all his emotions. Let us remember that he lost a great grandson and still thought about politics first.
Luke and Elliott Tittensor are actual twins in real life. They said the scene was a tough one for them. They did an awesome job. I was sad to see them go this early.
@@funnylilgalreacts All good. Little note, the Carryk brothers are indeed played by twins, but the Lannister twins are played by one actor, who's already been killed once in _Game of Thrones_ so... _shrug_ ??
I think a lot of people have forgotten that Aegon didn't want to be king. he literally ran and hid. He understood exactly what it means to be king and he also knew he wasn't up for it. Aegon is the exact opposite of Joffrey. Aegon has shown he cares for others, and he truly loved his son. I think before Jaehaery's death if Aegon and Rhaenyra had been able to sit and talk, he would have handed her the crown. But thanks to Daemon, that can't happen. I think the scene with him crying is him grieving for his son, hating the crown and feeling surrounded by people who only want to use him, including his own mother and grandfather.
Liked your review. About Aegon, I would recommend listening to the actor's interviews (Tom Glynn-Carney). He has such a good grasp on his character, how complicated he is, how he feels too much and is erratic. The irony with Otto as well is that he forced Aegon to be king, but never prepared him for it. Of course Aegon would respond only with emotion rather with a long term vision, as Otto does.
That one of Otto's mistakes. I was gonna let him off easy because he was fired and sent to Oldtown for 10 years but he came back when Aegon was only 12. He could've still taught him a lot about ruling or atleast emotional control.
Technically, if Rhaenys would have considered helping Daemon take out Vaghar and Aemond, the Blood and Cheese incident would have been avoided. I understand that people think Daemon is too impulsive, but he knows what it takes to win and from the beginning he was trying to gain a hold for their side, but he was ignored and eventually it turned out worse.
Yeah, I walked away from this episode dead certain that Emma D'Arcy is the absolute standout of this cast. Them yelling, "He was not afraid of you!" sounded SO MUCH like an angry Viserys.
They've been great, but a shout out to Aegon so far through these two episodes, especially this one. That opening scene and his outburst at the small council 🤌
Arryk and Erryk's duel is what everyone wanted Cleganebowl to be. What's worse is that instead of hating each other like the Cleganes, they genuinely loved each other.
36:30 Daeron is Alicent's youngest son, they send him to Oldtown at a young age, he's an important character for the story, they should have mentioned him in the first season but they didn't do that so they're introducing him now
I really enjoy the focus on how these high born family’s actions affect the everyday people in these kingdoms. They are often caught in the middle just for being around and living their lives.
Luke Tittensor plays Ser Arryk Cargyll...and his brother Eliott Tittensor plays Ser Erryk Cargyll. They are twins from Heywood, a suburb of Manchester, UK
The acting this episode was phenomenal. Everyone did a fantastic job. Aegon is a horrible person but you still feel sorry for him after seeing him angry and crying after Jaehaerys was brutally murdered. Then we’re reminded how horrible he is when he commits mass murder to kill one guilty man. Helaena is the Green I feel the most for, she’s so sweet and innocent. She doesn’t care about politics, she just lost her son. Typical of Otto to use the murder of Jaehaerys as a political tool. It felt good to see him lose Hand of the King and admitting Viserys was right about Aegon and that Viserys never wanted Aegon as king. We knew Rhaenyra was going to be angry with Daemon for having Jaehaerys murdered. Regardless of intent, it was Daemon’s fault. It was good for Rhaenyra to realise she can’t trust Daemon and how selfish he is. All the murder of Jaehaerys did was vilify her and she had nothing to do with it. It was good to see Aemond admit he regrets killing Luke and that he acted out of temper. Criston Cole is such a hypocrite. He criticises Arryk for his dirty cloak and for guarding Aegon when Arryk is the more honourable Kingsguard. Cole is projecting, he can’t admit his oathbreaking because he’d be executed. He probably sent Arryk as a scapegoat to say he messed up so he went on this mission for redemption. Seeing Erryk and Arryk fight was heartbreaking. Like House Targaryen, they’re divided. Erryk protected his queen but killed his twin in the process. Kinslaying is a terrible crime in Westeros and unable to live with his guilt, he takes his own life.
I agree wholeheartedly with you. Ryan Condal has done a remarkable job. The twins went from silly matching names in the histories, to two men with integrity who deserved a far better fate than being destroyed by a petty, vindictive, bag of small dicks.
10 people is not mass murder. When people talk about Aegon why is there a need to add that he is a horrible person before talking about something that doesn't relate to any of his bad qualities? They don't do this with Rheanyra.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 killing ten people at once is considered mass murder. Mass murder is generally defined as killing three or more people at once. Besides, in the book, there are one hundred rat catchers. I can describe Aegon as a horrible person if I want.
@@rexibhazoboa7097 It's fine for Rhaneys to kill hundreds at Aegon's coronation, it's fine for Rheanyra to lock 30 people in a room with dragons burning and eating them alive, it's fine for Daemon to kill his own wife in the vale, but Aegon executing the rat catchers because his infant son was murdered by one of them I guess crosses the line and makes him a horrible monster
In Viserys defence, he never meant for Aegon to sit on the throne so hence why he wasnt educated for it. Might have still been a little of an oversight but it doesnt seem that any other than the heir is educated for it.
5:19 - Remember: One of Rhaenyra's sons is called "Aegon" too 😉 It's name is meant to invoke first king of dynasty, Aegon I, regardless whose line is in power.
@@ГригорийКузярин-т1ъ There was no 'they'. Lyanna named him herself. And son of Rhaegar and Elia was already gone that by this point. I think it's Lyanna presumably learnt about her stepson's fate and named her son in honour of her husband's first heir, as now it was her son that was heir to his father, as his elder half-brother would be if he lived.
@@pendragonsxskywalkers9518 Doubtful. There is no way news of what happened in King's Landing reached the Tower of Joy before Ned and his men did. It doesn't make sense, and in the books we have yet another Aegon, son of Rhaegar. Jon was likely not named anything before Ned named him, or was named something closer to Visenya or Aemon (as Maester Aemon and Rhaegar worked together to decipher the ancient prophecy).
@@LuxLoser You presume with no evidence. We know nothing how many time passed and about how fast news were - it might have been ravens who bring messages, not people. 'It doesn't make sense, and in the books we have yet another Aegon, son of Rhaegar.' - Errr.... that what I was talking about, you know? My point stands both in book and series. If Lyanna had heard about her stepson's supposed demise, she might assumed that her husband no longer has an heir, and that's why she chose name Aegon. Of course, in book it is more likely Rhaegar chose some other great name like Jaehaerys or Aemon or whatever, but either way in bith book and TV show little Aegon was not among living (or so people thought) during birth of his younger half-brother. Lyanna could know this and that's why she chose name Aegon, as her son was now only heir.
I must admit that show characters, in this case, are better and more complex, than original book characters (especially Viserys, Aegon and Aemond). Its quite rare to reproduce better version of characters in show/film from book sources.
Considering the way the book was written, as a Maester compiling stories from the Targaryen using mostly unreliable sources decades, sometimes centuries after the events, does not give place to such depth. I'm loving the show precisely because of that, even GRRM praised Paddy Considine's acting giving depth to Viserys, for instance.
@@vinnycordeiro I fully agree, but I rather mean there is quite significant (especially in Viserys and Aemond case) positive shift in their personalities in comparison to books, not only they are less shallow (as you pointed because of book form of narration).
The acting 🔥🔥🔥 Didn’t think I could hate Christen Cole even more , I was wrong The internet can rest easy , the dog is ok !! “The king must be spared” ….. but we can definitely exploit the Queen and Queen dowager . 🙄 Rhaenys and Corlys are goals. Imagine how much better the world would be if she was chosen as successor
Small correction - the last Targ king (Dany's dad) was Aerys. Though you are right, there is another Aegon even in the show - Rhaenyra and Daemon's older son ;) everyone can be named Aegon in this family haha
Yes, name recycling is very common... many Aegons are on the family tree, and the late son Baelon was named for Viserys' father, and the late Jaherys named after the "old king" we met in the introduction of the first season. And Rhanys (a favorite of many of us) was named for one of Aegon the Conquerer's sister-wives.
House of Dragons is helping us forget the dissaponting finale of GOT. I am loving this show so far, and Otto Hightower is my favorite character. He maybe the mastermind that kinda started this whole debacle, but he has a sound mind, he's right now the voice of reason, and he's just playing the game. Too bad for him, his plan kinda backfired with the king making poor choices but hey, that's the game. That's the Game of..... oh wait, that's House of Dragons! Yeah!
Emma D'Arcy emotes so brilliantly. You can see what they are supposed to be feeling or thinking in every scene. Some people's sadness hurts to watch, and they're one of them. Olivia Cooke and Tom Glynn-Carney were brilliant in this episode too.
Olivia Cooke (Alicent) has said in an interview that she did an "animalistic and messy" sex scene with Fabien Frankel (Cole) that was left out of the final cut. It's being speculated that that scene was the continuation of the end of this episode.
Love your reaction Angela! The two brothers fight and losing both was surprising! Love your reaction to the end of the episode!😅 Looking forward to the next one!
Aegon can't comfort Helaena. Alicent can't comfort Aegon. Otto can't comfort Alicent. Aemond gets his comfort by paying a woman at a brothel. The whole family is incapable.
I really enjoyed your reaction to this Angela, and Xander - I hope you read the comments too - great work on turning the edit around so fast and so well! I always have an idea of what to expect. As a huge fan of the world George R.R. Martin created, I've read *all the things* multiple times (thus the user name). What impresses me most about the show are the insanely clever ways the show runner, writers, and directors are telling the story. The source material is scant (this period of time gets only a handful of chapters in Fire & Blood), the 'facts' of it are contradictory, and only the massive events are provable (in world). I've read the books enough, and been a part of the fandom long enough, I feel entitled to say that anyone arguing 'it's bad, it's not what the book said' doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. EVEN knowing the books (yes all of them) as well as I do, I enjoy the discovery of what HotD has decided to do in each episode. In this one, the fate of the Cargyll twins as a 'known point' of the story, meant their deaths were only a matter of time, but, the show managed to give two names in history enough character that I cared about them. Despite being on different sides of the matter, both men have been given integrity, honor, steadfastness, and loyalty. As the episode drew toward the inevitable climax, I was *pleading* with the screen to "please let history be wrong, please let history be wrong..." and my existing dislike for Cole is now a seething hatred, for having led not one, but TWO good men to their deaths. Incredible writing. Incredible acting. Incredible direction. I am LOVING this show.
I tip my hat to the cast in this episode. A lot of uncomfortable conversations that were long overdue and the actors really knocked those scenes out of the park.
ngl ser criston is the dirtiest piece of shit I've ever seen, but his plan to assassinate Rhaenyra, which I still think is dumb, had a better chance of killing her than Daemon's attempt to assassinate Aemond.
@@funnylilgalreacts I'm not talking about how they accessed, those two guys were not near the level of fighters Aemond is, Aemond is on a skill level somewhere near Daemon he just has less experience, not only was it plausible that ser Arryk could get access to her, but he is an elite swordsman who could definitely kill Rhaenyra.
Also just wanna say... Everyone in-universe (and many reactors) say Criston's plan is stupid... but it almost worked! Arryk was literally in a room, one way out, with Rhaenyra and an unarmed handmaiden. If wasn't for Erryk bursting in (and I'm guessing Mysaria warned him his brother was there), he would have totally done it.
What if Rhaenrya died in childbirth? He should have been trained by his father regardless. That's why you have an heir and a spare. Ned still trained Jon and Bran even though Robb was his heir.
@@havok6280they were literally infant's while their father was healthy. It wouldn't have helped Aegon to be there as a 2 year old and if Rhaenyra had any children they would be in line before Aegon which she had plenty of children before her father's death so Aegon was pretty far back in line to be king.
I'm amazed at the twins fight. It was an awesome chance to make a long storyline when you don't know wich one of them survived. But no. JRRM or the showrunners decided to play it straight.
It was actually written in the very first book (A Game of Thrones) that Arryk and Erryk fought and killed each other in the "Dance of the Dragons" (sic).
All of the Aegon's (from the Conquerer to "you know nothing, Jon Snow") have a complicated relationship with being King of Westeros. Basically, you don't want to be an Aegon... it's a curse, on you and the realm 😂
I so appreciate your desire to get Emma's pronouns correct! Thank you for making that effort. It speaks volumes about your character and makes me want to support your channel even more! :)
I don't think Otto cares enough for Haelena to know her as a person. If he did know what this would do to her, he certainly wouldn't give a shit. His children and grandchildren are first of all assets in his play for power. He wasn't even that bothered by Jaehaerys's death, he immediately saw it as an opportunity to put dirt on Rhaenyra. Good lord, it's such a dysfunctional family... some therapists could earn a fortune there. I love that the characters are not stereotypically "good" or "bad", they come in all shades of grey. And they have real depth and maybe with the exception of Cole some redeeming qualities. The acting is always on point, but I feel this episode was really outstanding. Especially the scenens with Rhaenyra and Daemon and both scenes with Aegon, the one with the small counsel and the one with Otto. It's such a good show.
Ironically, the rat catcher kicked the dog to make sure the dog didn’t follow them upstairs, and had to do it quick and efficient. He didn’t do it because he mistreats the dog regularly. The dog helps him do the job and it was his companion
45:17, If either Addam or Alyn end up riding dragons, I don't think it would be because they're Corlys' children. iirc, Laena and Laenor were dragonriders because Rhaenys is a Targaryen. Both families -- the Velaryons and the Targaryens -- originate in Valyria, but I think only the Targaryens are dragonriders. That may be (originally) the primary reason for all the intermarriage: to keep the dragonriding ability in the family. SInce Corlys is a Velaryon, any dragonriding children of his, Waters or not, would have to have a Targaryen mother.
I liked the scene with the Twins, there were people who didn't like it because they didn't feel as much about the death of their brothers, but if people aren't sad about that scene, it's because we didn't have that much scene between the two of them because the public cares about the characters for reasons that not everyone They were so emotional in this scene, but that's why the writers are educated, that's why I say it's good, it shows all the characters and shows a lot on the screen because the audience cares about the characters, but for me, I really liked the scene. “We were born together, you separated us. But I still love you brother.” They were born together, were separated by choosing opposite sides in a war but died together. the fact that he can't live in the world knowing that he killed his own brother, that's why he kills himself 😭 “I swear to protect the queen with all my strength. And give my blood for hers.” Ser Erryk was faithful to his oath until his last breath, but living with the burden of taking his beloved brother's life was too high a price and impossible to pay. 💔 Criston Cole, in addition to blaming Arryk for the death of a child HE was supposed to be protecting, made Arryk fight his own brother to the death. the brother he described as "one soul in two bodies." Alicent is a very bad mother, Aemond, Aegon, even Helaena, they are like that, it's because of their mother who never looked at them and never gave them affection, that's why they are all like this, different from Rhaenyra's family, who are all united. is if they love each other. In the scene where Alicent sees Aegon crying he could pick him because he is her son but she often prefers to have sex with her lover than pick her son, this just shows who she really is. That's another thing, it's already good with so many scenes of Alicent's sex is Cristian Col, we, the public, already understand that you want to show that Alicent is a hypocrite and I think it's cool that they are showing why she, and even us books, is envious too, but it's already good with so many scenes like this together, they don't even They showed Corlys' scene with Rhaenys and apparently there won't be Dameon and Rhaenyra, more Alicent and Cristian Col, wow, they actually have a lot of scenes of them having sex, disgusting. justice for Team Black Not satisfied with everything she put Rhaenyra through, Alicent even took her room to fuck Cole... and Aemond took Daemon's. (Wow, how envious these green people are) Alicent only takes Rhaenyra's remains, have you noticed that 😂😂😂 Alicent is very jealous of Rhaenyra and Cristian Col will never get over a NO from Rhaenyra, they are very rotten, they hurt if they deserve it. Now I understand why the critics only talked about this fight (Daemon & Rhaenyra) the whole episode was warm after it was over... Otto's scene with Aegon was great and the twins scene too that's all that was cool about this episode 2. (I liked it of the episode, but I found it more or less, but I hope that episode 3 is better than the first and second)
Book reader, but no spoilers, I swear by the Old Gods & the New! The economy with which they've been telling us this story is truly brilliant, never a wasted scene, bit of dialogue, or character introduction. I believe we're witnessing masters at their craft. The fracturing of the interpersonal/familial relationships on both sides is just revealing how deeply unhealthy those relationships were to begin with. Aegon seeking a motherly figure and solace in a sex worker b/c he derides his own actual mother? Otto refusing to listen to Alicent unburden her conscience? Ailcent callously walking away from her grieving son? Aegon II shunning his Queen and the mother of his slain child??? Daemon Refusing accountability for his direct actions which caused the horrific death of an innocent kid, and then whining about his brother being afraid of his strength? (did that not sound like every asshat who defends their unpopularity by claiming "they're just jealous!") Of course culminating with the heartbreaking fight to the mutual death of the Cargyll brothers :( Rhaenys & Corlys look like the healthiest couple in Westeros by a country mile. *To be fair, they have mutual respect and real love for each other, so #realtionshipgoals In that vein, I'm worried for Bela, she's too bold and brave for her own good. Oh and is there a "I hate Criston Cole & his punchable face" club? I need to sign up for that..
07:42 I misgendered Emma in a YT comment a couple months ago also. I was corrected by another fan and I apologized for my thoughtlessness. It's my own hangup as their smile is perhaps the most beautiful I've ever seen and I'm normally only enraptured by women. It's not an excuse, but rather an illustration of how I still have growth to accomplish.
Tom’s acting as Aegon has been simply sensational. Aegon is a bit of a non-character in the book, so this is refreshing take. Obviously, he’s not a great guy, but I’m loving what Tom and the writers are doing with the character in the show! And as always…f*&k Criston Cole! 😂
Criston Cole is climbing up my GOT villain list. He's right up there with Roose Bolton. He hasn't made it to the top yet with Ramsay and Joffrey. What a scumbag
Roose was a cunning and patient man who earned the position of warden of the north. Cole on the other hand hasn't made a good decision in 20 years. He rose up to the rank of kingsguard from common folk, but damn after rhaenyra dude has just fell off
10:53 Aegon broke his father's entire model. Poor Viserys right now, he's probably crying right now because his idiot son is breaking his things. 14:23 Helaena, bewildered, holding Jaehaerys's toy and smelling the blanket she embroidered for him, the same one he used in the funeral procession.💔 That's how much Alicent was so worried about her daughter that the first thing she said to her was her own selfish interest and as if that wasn't enough, she even forced her daughter to participate in the funeral procession knowing it would traumatize her more. 15:51 I liked the funeral scene, it was well recorded,I liked that we saw Halaena's vision, when the carriage got stuck I thought that Jaehaerys' body was going to fall and his head was going to separate hahaha I was scared of that happening. 15:22 I thought it was so pointless the blood crying before larys started torturing 😂😂😂 he was a gold cloak and the most feared... and the guy betrayed the commander without even bleeding? he decapitated a child in cold blood but was afraid of larys? Seriously, just see the script The way Jace looks exactly like Daemon at the council table was the best detail!!! I'm going to talk about what Harry Collet, who plays Jace, said about his character. "I think Jace has a spark of Rhaenyra in him, but I also think he has a spark of Daemon [...] He hasn't really had a predominant father figure in his life, so I think he looks up to Daemon a lot." 16:57 This Scene with Daemon made me laugh a lot, He is Genuinely the funniest Character in the House of the Dragon, As if this man was laughing, smiling all proud of what he did until he saw that Rhaenyra was angry and then he said "Listen to me, It was a mistake "😭😭😭 Rhaenyra saying that she never trusted him doesn't make sense to me because if she never trusted him, then why did she ask him to marry her and tell him that she needed him to protect her? He's the only one who can protect Rhaenyra And another inconsistency: being angry because the daemon was giving his own commands to guarantee the security of the castle after the usurpation because she was giving birth and incapable of making decisions, like she wanted him to wait? What if the hightowers attacked while she was giving birth?🤔 For a second she thought he had returned. Rhaenyra, Daemon isn't coming back so quickly, you called him a fool and I still tell him to his face that you don't trust him, what would you want, if my beloved called me pathetic after I gave him my world and showed my love with actions on duty, he was going to spend at least some time without seeing me. May my queen forgive me but I'm with the daemon in not giving a damn about the boy who died, nothing would have happened if the greens hadn't stolen Rhaenyra's throne, the greens killed Lucerys, did they think it would stay like that? Now a child on their side has died this is a consequence of what they did Remembering that the first attack was from the Green Team when Aemond killed Lucerys and there is even in the book who started the war in the book and saying that the green team started the war, not the black team. In the part where Daemon says that Viserys was the failure, brother. Yes,Viserys was weak as hell and his political impotence is the cause of the dance. He let Otto and Alicent run wild,he trusted those snakes and an entire Kingdom paid for it. I think all the interactions between the two (Daemon & Rhaenyra) are very dragonlike, you know, as if they were two dragons fighting (the real dragon's blood) "I don't think she [Rhaenyra] realized how bad this is for her [...] She has Daemon by her side and now she doesn't, she will have to reap these consequences in the episodes to come" according to Ryan Condal, a Daemon's departure It will be a great loss for Rhaenyra! Most people who wanted Rhaenyra to get rid of Daemon don't understand that if she hadn't married him, she would have died the second after Viserys died. and the count makes it clear that she will understand what Daemon's mere presence meant, obviously we can't take into consideration everything Ryan says because he and Sara are fragmented... anyway, we'll see. when the two actors are theater children and the direction follows the rhythm without making everything rigid, this happened here in this scene... I even enjoy watching the two actors dance... the sexual tension, disappointment, sadness and anger of the characters 10/10,I don't understand much about technical issues, but I thought the way Clare just followed the actors was really beautiful. “It's very complicated for [Daemon and Rhaenyra] because Rhaenyra feels a great sense of betrayal and a sense of injustice that is being directed at her. Ultimately, it's at the hands of Daemon with his impetuous behavior.” Matt Smith about Daemyra's fight in episode 2 Matt Smith about Daemon in episode 2 “I think the idea that she [Rhaenyra] doesn't trust him [Daemon] feels quite alien to him, because he thinks he's the most trustworthy person in the world for her, genuinely, so he's probably quite hurt by that” “Fatherhood is a very complex idea for him [Daemon] at the moment. He's still in the throes of grief, so I don't think he's a particularly efficient father this season.” - Matt Smith on Daemon's relationship with his children 23:35 In the scene with Baela and Jace I thought it was cool because it showed more of their relationship, the part I didn't like was when Baela says that she sometimes hates her father, I was like🤷🏾♀️ because in the books, Daemon is a great father but unfortunately, the series' writers prefer to put Daemon as a terrible husband and a terrible father, and that makes me angry because I wanted people to see the other side of Daemon, which in the book there is more in the series, they don't have Harry Collett talking about Jace and Baela "You get to see a whole new side of Jace. This pain is changing him into a different person, but it's also matured him and we get to see these beautiful little moments between Baela and Jace growing as a relationship. 24:05 It's this scene with Aemond, seriously, you (screenwriters) are going to put him as a poor thing, that's enough Alicent now, even Aemond too, he's a psychopath, bro, in the books,he kills Lucerys on purpose, and when he gets home, he and Aegon and his family green they all make a fuss because Rhaenyra's son died here comes the series makes the boy's death an "Accident" and now makes Aemond "Repentant" for what he did? This is not the psychopathic Aemond of the books. 26:27 In the scene with Rhaenys and Corlys, I wanted them to show their sex and it's a shame even if they didn't show it, it's another thing for Rhaenys too, who in front of Daemon makes it clear that she hates him and behind him defends him 😂😂😂 typical of even relatives (it hurts if they like their way better) 27:12 In the scene with Rhaenyra and Mysaria I noticed that Rhaenyra was jealous. You can tell just by looking at her posture when she goes to talk to Mysaria, Rhaenyra only freed Mysaria because she discovered that she was Daemon's ex, yes Mysaria's history of slavery/servitude/abuse would make her eventually free her. there, but not as quickly as it was. (Our Queen is so jealous🤭) and Mysaria giving a feminist speech and using Otto and Daemon as equal sides of the same coin? only saw the script Otto shined in this episode. he used his great-grandson's death to gain popular support. he spat in his grandson's face that he wasn't chosen and that his father was right for that. and finally he told Alicent to keep her sins in order to tell the devil because he wasn't interested (and I'm not interested in knowing either) about Alicent's victimhood. Even though she's fighting with her husband, she doesn't take off her ring, I feel bad because of the thickness of it, you can see her bones shining 😂😂😂
Notice the difference between Alicent and Aegon in this ep, and Rhanaera and Jace in the last? Rhanaera's instinct was to hold and comfort her son. Alicent couldn't bring herself to do it.
You can see so much going on inside Rhaenyras mind and the chaos inside her. Gosh Emma is so talented and you can see how much they have grown comfortable in the role. Like it is crazy to see them act against Matt Smith and does a damn fine job. Yeah Daemon needed a time out by her
Have you seen the first pics of the new Game of Thrones show, Dunk and Egg? It will be placed around 100 years before the original series (or some decades after House of the Dragon) and will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire Egg. Won't say much more because of spoilers, but if they follow the published stories it'll be a treat. Also, GRRM said that probably the other stories he had in mind to write will rather be seen on the screen. If you want a breakdown about that beginning, I suggest watching the video from the channel Alt Shift X, he makes explanation videos since the days of Game of Thrones and also talks about the books, although specifically for the series episodes he avoids future spoilers, so non-book readers can watch them. The beginning of the video for HotD S2E1 explains the tapestry. And about the smallfolk characters that were presented: you'll need to wait and see. Trust me, it'll be wild.
Otto's head turn is fucking gold like "what the fuck did criston do ?????"
I’m not Otto fan but that scene was 🤌🏼
I love Otto! All the small face movements and words he uses. Everything is cold but very calculated! You see the gears turning when he's just staring there looking at you. He's the standout to me hands down !
Rhys Ifans and TGC was the MVPs of this episode, great performances!
lol, the way he drew a breath and closed his eyes for a sec, as if to say “Lord give me strength” 😂
Imma thow a thesaurus at this boy’s head
Alicent: “I have sinned.”
Otto: “shut up.”
Ironic, the same turning a blind eye that Viserys was rightly criticized for is now being done by Otto over his own daughter's indiscretions.
The acting, the writing, the cinematography and direction are TOP TIER in this series!!!! Bravo! 🙌
I heartily agree and those OUTFITS the Queen's dress was fantastic (blacks)

28:20 the Dragon is Seasmoke. He was Laenors dragon. Currently riderless
👀
Can't be riderless if Laenor is alive
The stark distinction(no pun intended) between how the families deal with grieving with each other is very telling.
Alicent not comforting Aegon, but Rhaenyra comforting Jace SAID SOMETHING
@@funnylilgalreactsnot only did Alicent not comfort her own child, she decided that she would go back to satisfy her own carnal needs instead.

“I wish to spill blood, not ink”🔥🔥
We have a mad king in the making
Reminds me of a line that Rodrik Harlaw says in the main books but it's reversed. "I prefer my history dead. Dead history is writ in ink, the living sort in blood."
"I don't know which one is which."
To be fair, their parents didn't help matters by naming them Arryk and Erryk.
Maybe tattoo them with an “A” and and “E” at least 😂
The Arryk and Erryk fight is thematic and represents, in a microcasm, the whole feud. Not so very subtle by GRRM.
@@funnylilgalreacts It would have to be on their forehead.
It's a bit of a moot point now they're dead, but the way to remember it is that Arryk stayed with Aegon and Alicent: all the "A"s together.
Arryk and Erryk are played by actual twins, Luke and Elliott Tittensor.
Yay!! lots of character building with the king. Glad to give him more depth of a character even if we still don't like him.
He’s so complex! I love a well built fleshed out character!!
The twins are in fact twins.
They’d trained for this fight and their death scene since season 1.
They were fantastic and I’m sad they’re gone.
"How was I supposed to know there would be consequences for my actions" Otto probably 😂
The difference between Otto and all those other donkeys is that he's actually smart.

I think the scene with him crying is him grieving for his son, hating the crown and feeling surrounded by people who only want to use him, including his own mother and grandfather.
cares for others where lol he couldnt even comfort haelena his sister wife and mother of the dead child ….also hes a rapist 🧍🏽♀️
Smashing a sword against an object while yelling "I'll kill them all!"...... yep, Robb was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw that.
Coal poker, not a sword. But otherwise sure.

You can hate Otto if you want but everything he did and said in this episode was 100% correct and logical.
Interesting that you interpreted the dog's actions as coming from a place of loyalty. I saw it as savoring the moment. Schadenfreude.
@@JordanWylde_ Yea you're right about the first part.

Lyanna could know this and that's why she chose name Aegon, as her son was now only heir.
the look on your face when you said "I dont care if youre sad CC", shivers.....

Well Viserys was a fine king. It's his descendants who fucked everything up. All Viserys ever wanted was for his family to get along.
This is the first time Alicent's 3rd son was mentioned. Book readers were wondering if he had been cut from the show.
The acting especially emotionally the stuff is just breathtakingly good.
The rage destruction of Viserys's life work on the model of Old Valeria is both heart breaking and an effective foreshadowing.
When Aemond told Otto the twin idea is brilliant Otto looked like he's about to have a stroke.
So in the books Even Jamie is like. I'm bad, yes but I'm not Cole!

Constant family problems just passed down to the next generation from both sides.
X2 for Rhys, also. Incredible face acting all around, this season.

I love Otto. My fave character.
It's such a good show.
at this point Otto is the only sane one it seems, hate his guts but he is a good hand

25:50 showing them right after a scene with his affair kids is wild

“I swear to protect the queen with all my strength. And give my blood for hers.”
Ser Erryk was faithful to his oath until his last breath, but living with the burden of taking his beloved brother's life was too high a price and impossible to pay. 💔
Criston Cole, in addition to blaming Arryk for the death of a child HE was supposed to be protecting, made Arryk fight his own brother to the death. the brother he described as "one soul in two bodies."
Alicent is a very bad mother, Aemond, Aegon, even Helaena, they are like that, it's because of their mother who never looked at them and never gave them affection, that's why they are all like this, different from Rhaenyra's family, who are all united. is if they love each other. In the scene where Alicent sees Aegon crying he could pick him because he is her son but she often prefers to have sex with her lover than pick her son, this just shows who she really is. That's another thing, it's already good with so many scenes of Alicent's sex is Cristian Col, we, the public, already understand that you want to show that Alicent is a hypocrite and I think it's cool that they are showing why she, and even us books, is envious too, but it's already good with so many scenes like this together, they don't even They showed Corlys' scene with Rhaenys and apparently there won't be Dameon and Rhaenyra, more Alicent and Cristian Col, wow, they actually have a lot of scenes of them having sex, disgusting. justice for Team Black
Not satisfied with everything she put Rhaenyra through, Alicent even took her room to fuck Cole... and Aemond took Daemon's.
We went from the red wedding, to the red bedding 😢
Who's intro breakdown did you watch? David Lightbringer?
Episode3 gonna be crazy
(did that not sound like every asshat who defends their unpopularity by claiming "they're just jealous!") Of course culminating with the heartbreaking fight to the mutual death of the Cargyll brothers :(
Rhaenys & Corlys look like the healthiest couple in Westeros by a country mile. *To be fair, they have mutual respect and real love for each other, so #realtionshipgoals
In that vein, I'm worried for Bela, she's too bold and brave for her own good.
I think Aegon’s feelings were valid, but his actions definitely weren’t. 🙂↔️
Absolutely. His rage and pain with no comfort will only turn into more rage. Poor kiddo
Was it valid why Dany executed the masters in Mereen? Hizdar's father was innocent.
@@havok6280 No slaver is innocent
@@uninterruptedrhythm4104right wtf are they saying lol comparing a slaver to a ratcatcher small folk.
Alicent knows Cole is a blabber mouth, he told on him and Rhaenyra last time quick
Did anybody notice the hand of the queen pin on Rhaenys????
Maybe she was filling in for Corlys? I thought he was her hand
@@funnylilgalreacts I thought that too. I'll have to go back and watch episode one to see if he's wearing the pin.
Neither Cole or the queen mother take any accountability.
He rose up to the rank of kingsguard from common folk, but damn after rhaenyra dude has just fell off
At the start of the episode: I HATE OTTO !
At the end of the episode: PLEASE COME BACK OTTO!
lol not quite but at least he kept the crazy at bay
Tom Glynn-Carney played the current Aegon.
Seriously, just see the script
The way Jace looks exactly like Daemon at the council table was the best detail!!!
I'm going to talk about what Harry Collet, who plays Jace, said about his character. "I think Jace has a spark of Rhaenyra in him, but I also think he has a spark of Daemon [...] He hasn't really had a predominant father figure in his life, so I think he looks up to Daemon a lot."
16:57 This Scene with Daemon made me laugh a lot, He is Genuinely the funniest Character in the House of the Dragon, As if this man was laughing, smiling all proud of what he did until he saw that Rhaenyra was angry and then he said "Listen to me, It was a mistake "😭😭😭
Rhaenyra saying that she never trusted him doesn't make sense to me because if she never trusted him, then why did she ask him to marry her and tell him that she needed him to protect her? He's the only one who can protect Rhaenyra
And another inconsistency: being angry because the daemon was giving his own commands to guarantee the security of the castle after the usurpation because she was giving birth and incapable of making decisions, like she wanted him to wait? What if the hightowers attacked while she was giving birth?🤔
For a second she thought he had returned.
Now a child on their side has died this is a consequence of what they did
Remembering that the first attack was from the Green Team when Aemond killed Lucerys and there is even in the book who started the war in the book and saying that the green team started the war, not the black team.
In the part where Daemon says that Viserys was the failure, brother. Yes,Viserys was weak as hell and his political impotence is the cause of the dance. He let Otto and Alicent run wild,he trusted those snakes and an entire Kingdom paid for it.
I think all the interactions between the two (Daemon & Rhaenyra) are very dragonlike, you know, as if they were two dragons fighting (the real dragon's blood)
"I don't think she [Rhaenyra] realized how bad this is for her [...] She has Daemon by her side and now she doesn't, she will have to reap these consequences in the episodes to come" according to Ryan Condal, a Daemon's departure It will be a great loss for Rhaenyra!
Ultimately, it's at the hands of Daemon with his impetuous behavior.” Matt Smith about Daemyra's fight in episode 2
Matt Smith about Daemon in episode 2
“I think the idea that she [Rhaenyra] doesn't trust him [Daemon] feels quite alien to him, because he thinks he's the most trustworthy person in the world for her, genuinely, so he's probably quite hurt by that”
“Fatherhood is a very complex idea for him [Daemon] at the moment. He's still in the throes of grief, so I don't think he's a particularly efficient father this season.” - Matt Smith on Daemon's relationship with his children
23:35 In the scene with Baela and Jace I thought it was cool because it showed more of their relationship, the part I didn't like was when Baela says that she sometimes hates her father, I was like🤷🏾♀️ because in the books, Daemon is a great father but unfortunately, the series' writers prefer to put Daemon as a terrible husband and a terrible father, and that makes me angry because I wanted people to see the other side of Daemon, which in the book there is more in the series, they don't have
Harry Collett talking about Jace and Baela
"You get to see a whole new side of Jace.
26:27 In the scene with Rhaenys and Corlys, I wanted them to show their sex and it's a shame even if they didn't show it, it's another thing for Rhaenys too, who in front of Daemon makes it clear that she hates him and behind him defends him 😂😂😂 typical of even relatives (it hurts if they like their way better)
27:12 In the scene with Rhaenyra and Mysaria I noticed that Rhaenyra was jealous. (Our Queen is so jealous🤭)
and Mysaria giving a feminist speech and using Otto and Daemon as equal sides of the same coin? only saw the script
Otto shined in this episode. he used his great-grandson's death to gain popular support. he spat in his grandson's face that he wasn't chosen and that his father was right for that. and finally he told Alicent to keep her sins in order to tell the devil because he wasn't interested (and I'm not interested in knowing either) about Alicent's victimhood.
Even though she's fighting with her husband, she doesn't take off her ring, I feel bad because of the thickness of it, you can see her bones shining 😂😂😂
Wait, what made you guess Alyn and Addam are related to Corlys?
Notice the difference between Alicent and Aegon in this ep, and Rhanaera and Jace in the last? Rhanaera's instinct was to hold and comfort her son. Alicent couldn't bring herself to do it.
You can see so much going on inside Rhaenyras mind and the chaos inside her. Gosh Emma is so talented and you can see how much they have grown comfortable in the role. Like it is crazy to see them act against Matt Smith and does a damn fine job. Yeah Daemon needed a time out by her
45:18 I'm doubtful you would have been able to make that connection if their identity hadn't been spoiled for you.
I am excited to see young aemon
Hey Angie, hope you had a good weekend! ^_^
Angie? Who dat??
@@funnylilgalreacts Isn't your name Angela? fuck. Am I super dumb?
It is in fact Angela. But not Angie.
@@funnylilgalreacts I'm sorry my fault. didn't mean to upset.
Not upset at all, I just thought it was funny because I never call myself that
