I copied this off of Garmin’s website: ‘With the release of software version 2.70, the alert tones for the Dash Cam Mini 2 can be disabled using the Garmin Drive app.’
Thanks for the review. Good job! I wouldn't worry about non-visible license plates, as you can just read them real-time and the audio will pick it up. I'm doubtful even 4k will pick up the plates from a distance beyond what 1080p will be visible for. I have a high quality 1080p dash cam and I can see the plates just fine during playback.
Good comparisons, but you keep calling the GoPro a garmin. It can be a bit confusing at times. Still, since you labeled each shot garmin or GoPro, it’s not bad
If you hardwire the camera into the fusebox so that it draws power even when the vehicle is off, then yes (assuming you're connected to wifi, like a hotspot on your phone for instance). If you connect the camera like he did in this video (drawing power from the 12v source on the mirror) then the camera will only be on when the vehicle is on, so parking mode would not be an option. You also wouldnt be able to get a live feed since the camera is off.
The cable you mentioned (adapter) for back-up camera….Is that a Garmin branded cable/adapter or another brand? If another which one and where to purchase? Thanks.
the beep is kinda counter productive as to be a stealth cam. i have a mini 1 on my car and it was stolen then found again. cam was still in with the sd card still in the camera and plugged in.recorded everything from the moment the theft occured till the end and the audio in the car* what noobs thief* if it was a mini 2 the sound would have alerted them and would have unpluygged it *Edit* found an option in the app setting to turn the beep it makes on car start up off
I think you have to pull the sd card out and put it in a reader in your computer/ take the camera out of your car, hook it up to a computer with a usb cable capable of transferring data and pull it off like phone pictures
Or this camera only records when something happens ? Like accident . Car hit pothole while driving ? Things like that ? For 30seconds ? No 24 hours videos ?
So I bought this same set up for my Tacoma and installed last Saturday. I’m noticing since I have installed it my truck has been cranking more when trying to start. Do you leave yours plugged into the mirror all the time?
@@Akrowdya64 depending on climate and battery type, you may need a new battery since 2018 was 3.5 years ago based on your post date. AZ killed my batteries like crazy.
Hello, I just added amazon links to the video description to make it easier. You can get it on amazon or from dognar technologies website. I hope this helps!
Some vehicles have that power cable available so that the owner can install an auto dim mirror at a later time. My 2020 Odyssey Ex had the power cable tucked behind the cabin lights in the ceiling. I just had to pop that off, untape the cable, route it out by the mirror, plug in the Dongar adapter and camera, and put everything back together.

Thank you for adding this 👍
Do you know what other features have been improved since the Newer update

Yeah, I did notice I kept doing that. After 4 or 5 voice over attempts I just gave up and put the camera name in the video.
Thing dashcam still holding up alright? Looking to buy one soon
I have not had any issues. Every time I crank the car it comes on.
I like your truck as specially the color
can you install 2 Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 in you car one in the front on in the back
how would you put a dash cash mini 2 in rear window???? for connection for power????
Fuse box adapter under drivers seat and run wire under the floor boards
So I’m curious how the live feed works.
Let’s say my car was sitting out in the parking lot. Can I go on the app and view the Live feed ??

Good review. Many dash cams will shut down after they've been recording for awhile due to heat build up. Has yours ever shut down by itself?
So far it has not on 2 hour plus drives with an outside temperature of 85F >

Dognar technologies, I put a link in the description.
Is the dongle going to work for 2021 4runner?and also i thought this has voice activation?.thanks
I’m not sure, probably best to go to their website to be certain and yes it does have voice activation
Thank you

Can you see and save videos on your phone directly?
Yes you can
Does yours not turn on with the car sometimes? I have 2 and they both have this issue
Mine have turned on every time.
Nice video , question so how do we get the full video not 30c videos but full hours videos ?
I’m uncertain I’ve been trying to figure out the same thing

It records if a incident is detected ie a bump or if you hit the save button.
Will the cam swivel on the ball mount and capture driver window if needed?
It will not swivel that far unfortunately
Thanks

Yes I do, I haven’t had any issues with mine. Possibly time for a new battery?
@@BuckcreekTV But it’s a 2018.. I wish there was a way to see if it was still drawing power after the truck is off..
@@Akrowdya64 it does not draw anything when the vehicle is off. Your dash cam has nothing to do with your “cranking more”.

Does camera or Dongar comes with the micro usb short cable or do I need to purchase it separately? Thanks
It should have the cable
Is there a way to turn off the audible beeps
There is a firmware update that adds the option of motion detection for park mode, and turn beep off
Also, what’s the max size of micro XDSC card can be used, what brand are you using. Thanks
32 gb and sandisk I think
Go pro lists max size as 512gb. I personally use a 128gb
Is the recordings saved directly on the sim card, so you can take it out and give it to, for example, the police ?
Yes
Does it show you your speed ??
You can turn that feature on and off
Where did you get the six inch usb cable ?
It came with the dongle, you can get them on Amazon as well.
does the garmin mini 2 get gps coordinates in the video ?
It does not.
I have been told you can turn the beep of
They may have updated the software since the review
Yes sir good video.. I might get me one now
Can it be used 24/7 while parked
Yes, with an additional cable.
@@BuckcreekTV which cable
Garmin’s parking mode cable you will have to find it on their website.
Any issue with the TSS?
I don’t have TSS on my vehicle
Could I use two in my car and shoe both on app ?
Yes I believe you can add multiple devices
@@BuckcreekTV thank you for the help 👍😊
If the dash cam is connected to your home wifi can you remote connect to it? Thanks for doing the video :-)
Hello, yes you can as long as the camera is on.
Good stuff.
Good video.
Great video. SMTTT

Hi, I am from Poland and I would like to know where you can buy this USB adapter attached to the mirror?
Hello, I just added amazon links to the video description to make it easier. You can get it on amazon or from dognar technologies website. I hope this helps!
I am going to buy me this product
What would be more impressive is installing on cars that don't have a plug in the rear view mirror.
Probably so, but I didn’t do that.
what would make that more impressive??

The beep is not discreet
You can turn it off now
Parking guard is useless. Don’t bother ppl.
This little. Dumb camdash doesn’t pop up in the app but it’s connected with my phone with blue tooth
It took me two or three tries to get mine to connect properly
@@BuckcreekTV does it have to be connected to the cars power ? Or does the app not let it pair on Apple phones
