That figure seems rather high! The US lost about 400000 military in the entire WW2 against Germany and Japan from December 1941 to August 1945 . That is 3 years and 8 months in Europe, Asia and the Pacific. The Russian war on Ukraine ( a limited conflict ) has lasted 1 year and 6 months.

It is not "world" population that counts. This is a localised conflict. Ukraine with a population if 38 million ( but millions of them are refugees) and the Russian Federation with a population of about 149 million. A long way from billions. Many of the weapons used are similar to those in WW2 except for drones and the longer range missiles with which Russia targets mainly civilians. In your original comment you asserted that 400000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed ( not injured or lost). I repeat that that number seems extraordinarily high especially given that the active soldiers ( 200000) together with reserves ( not involved in the fighting yet) - (250000) is about 450000.@@TheBobsays

How would the USA have any better idea of the Russian troop losses than the Ukrainian people ? The USA is only guessing and it's a bad guess .
Russia had over 120 000 troops in and around Ukraine when the war first started they are now all gone and many conscripts have followed them so 120 000 is underestimating the losses . Add in 22 000 Wagners also . When planning war tactics the death toll is only part of the losses the real operational losses include the wounded which are also taken out of the fight but still use up human resources and supplies .
The real operational loss for Russia is more like 200 000 lost fighters and that is why they have to resort to mobilizing untrained conscripts and older men because if they loose too many of the standing Army then Russia would be at risk of an easy invasion . So far Putin has shown that he is following the Hitler doctrine of fight to the last child or pensioner . If Russia don't wake up soon they could end up so weak that Ukraine may well be in a position to invade them in 10 years time . NATO membership may hamstring Ukraine and may well save Russia . NATO rules really help the enemy .

Total Ukrainian losses are approaching staggering 400 000 KIA. The problem is that Ukraine lost almost all trained and experienced soldiers that it had at the beginning of the war. Hapless people that Zelenskyy goons are rounding up in the streets die like flies at an astonishing rate. Ukrainian army still failed even to take Robotyne and still failed to come even close to the first main line of Russian defense after wasting at least 47 000 troops since June 4. Zelenskyy started to burn through his last reserves like an elite 82 brigade that was never meant to be slaughtered in this senseless way. It seems that obsessed with deadlines Zelenskyy firmly made up his mind to slaughter all his reserves by August 24. The situation is so catastrophic that Zelenskyy even banned highly pro-ukrainian western media from visiting the frontline. Some Ukrainian soldiers on condition of anonymity were too candid with western reporters. For example, NYT is quoting wounded Ukrainian soldier as saying: “We were shot like on a shooting range.” According to his fellow soldier “his battalion had suffered so many dead and wounded that only 10 men remained at the front line”. WaPo is reporting that yet another Zelenskyy debacle caused bitter recriminations on Capitol Hill: "The bleak outlook, briefed to some Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill, has already prompted a blame game inside closed-door meetings".

The dollar values listed on aid packages are not money on a pallet, but the value assigned to those pieces of equipment by the military or other government agencies (in the case of non-military aid). The overwhelming majority of the military aid being sent to Ukraine has already been paid for, costing taxpayers nothing. In fact, it is actually saving the government money in many cases as there are costs associated with maintaining this equipment and the costs for decommissioning military equipment are usually higher than giving it to Ukraine. It's more like spring cleaning for the US military than anything.
It is also in your interest as an American in to support Ukraine in their war. Tell me this, How do you feel about the possibility of yourself, your children, or your grandchildren being sent to Europe to fight a war against Russia? If you want to prevent this, then Russia needs to be stopped now. We already know that Russia planned to invade Moldavia after they were finished with Ukraine. Who knows who could be next? Georgia? Finland? The Baltics? You could argue that Russia, or more accurately Putin, wouldn't be insane enough to start a war with NATO and that his invasion of Ukraine was a form of preemptive self-defense (which it isn't). That doesn't change the fact though that he was insane enough to launch an unjustified invasion of Ukraine and therefore could be insane enough to start a war with NATO that could go nuclear and end the world as we know it. Of course, we also have the option of helping Ukraine stop Putin before he can even start instead of leaving the survival of the human race up to fucking chance. I know which option I'm going to go with.
