On a dual carriageway with central reservation, 3.5 ton van speed limit is 60mph .If your doing 68mph in your van, even though you are over limit, do they go by the normal car speed limit which is 70mph or every class vehicle will get looked into as to there speed limit ? This is with the speed camera vans
If you are approaching a van in distance on other side of the road on a dual carriage way. And the van is facing towards you, if you slow down to speed limit well before you pass but while you are at front of it will it clock you. Do cameras face out front and back or just side and back?
Hi, just wondering about something in relation to the gosafe speed vans. Drove past one the last morning around 6:30 am, so it was still dark. I noticed the lights on top were flashing Amber and the interior lights were on, I could see the fella inside and pretty sure he had his back turned to the camera. Would the camera be still operating or was this a sign he was still setting up? Cheers
I'm guessing the vans work the same in the UK? Though I believe the vans here use laser technology rather than radar, as you mentioned was used in Ireland. Not entirely sure though.
I got a speed fine im 99.9 percent that a picture was taken before I came into the boundary of 50km reason being I past the van on my way to my destination so I knew it was there and on the way back you can see the van miles away before you hit the 50km boundary this happen to anyone do I fight it or just suck it up which is very unfair thanks
Thanks great video, do you have a calbration cert or know the company that issiue the certs, the Garda told me no video in back of vans , there are two agd radars in the back ,
Can a speed van on one side of the motorway scan the speed of cars going in the opposite direction - on the opposite side? The van wouldn’t be visible to cars going in the opposite direction
Potentially yes, the new vans have the ability to measure vans in both directions, but it depends on the location and each location is different. But, potentially yes.
Driving on the road seen the front of the speed van in a 50 zone. I was doing 60. I breaked twice and I slowed down it was 50 before i pass the van and 46 when I passed the van. I hope i dont get fined judging by this video I will get done for speeding.
If you are driving over the speed limit towards the front of the van and then slow below the limit passing the rear of the van can you be caught for speeding by the camera?..
hi Johnny, thanks for watching! From my research, it seems that currently you can only be caught speeding from the rear of the Van. But technology can change so quickly that it wouldn't surprise me that in the not too distant future, you could be caught from the front as well. Thanks again for watching!

Do you have to actually pass the van to have a picture taken of your reg plate? Thanks for watching! There is a bit of leeway, some websites say that there is a leeway of about 10 percent, so therefore if you were doing 110kmh in a 100 zone you may be ok. Obviously I can't say for definite if you were caught or not, but once you can see the van, its likely that it can see you. Hope this helps to answer your question👍

It really depends, but I have seen generous leniency while others have reported very little to none at all. A lot of it also depends on the calibration of your car’s speedometer. You could be reading it as a few KPH over the limit but your true speed is a little below that.
Can a speed van catch 2 cars at once from the back. Eg. if a car was overtaking another car and he was speeding but they were side by side passing the van. Does the over taker get caught?
Are you only caught when u are right at the back of the camrea and the picture is taken? So if I’m doing 130 in a 120 zone break when passing the van doing like 60/80km will I be caught?
The Points system is harsh but I can accept it. What I can't accept is that it raises your insurance. The government regulates you to have mandatory insurance while not regulating the insurance industry at all
i personally think they should be unmarked, such as plain white or gray, it would work way better. but unfortunately people complain about privacy infringement or something.

Yes, the speed guns are only for a live reference for the Gardaí to pursue you. They don’t keep your speed and reg on record.
