No matter where you are in North America, the call of the Robin is there to greet you. Nice Video Andrew. Too bad people have to be like that and destroy your equipment. I like the wrath of your vengeance though, so sweet. Awesome closing footage.
Wow, surprised about the vandalism. Amazing how many people go in there now. Cool seeing the lakes from your vantage point. I call that mountain you climbed the Faces Mountain because if you look at the profile you can see many different combinations of faces. Last year I went up along that waterfall to some lakes up there. Looks like right now too much water is coming down and probably would not make it up that trail. Good fishing up there. Fly fishing is by far the best way to fish the Winds.
Man, what a difference a week and a half makes. We stopped by Pinedale on our way from Georgia to Idaho thinking we'd be and to hang around the lakes on May 31. We couldn't even make it up the road in safely. Came up a few miles short before having to turn around. The snow was too heavy to see squaretop anyways even if we had made it.
Thanks Andrew for another great video! Tempted to take a screen shot of the view from your camp and use it for a screensaver. Good luck on upcoming long trips. Mark
Wow. That’s messed up that some vandalized your camp. I encountered that only one backpacking down to Havasupai. I’m thinking of heading to the Winds in a few weeks. Any good suggestions for backpack trip for 2-3 nights in Green River Lakes?
Can't really go wrong scenery wise anywhere you go in there, make it your own. If you are thinking of heading out there I'd personally do a trip in the Beartooths over the winds, more wild and a lot less people. You can also start your trip up in the alpine right away in a lot of spots there.
Hiked into the Winds a few years back, Island Lake and some upper basins. Had no trouble with vandals but some people like to claim some unofficial ownership of some camp spots. To me, it’s pretty strange because it looks like where you were, you could have set up along the lake in either direction and get the same view. It’s a big lake with big features around it. Regardless, it’s pretty strange. The wilderness is huge, there’s plenty to go around.
In 2016 I camped very near that same spot for a night. A couple decided to do some "adult recreational activities" within view of my camp that evening. They were close enough I could hear them discuss my tent (with my light on inside) before they started.
@@NorthwestWanderer yeah! very little smoke actually, It’s been great for sunset’s , but we are in fire ban because of draught and high temps! No fires in CO yet 🤞 I have been watching the San Juan’s have been melting very fast! Hoping to get out there very very soon And I’ve seen the floods up there too. Incredible! Glad you guy’s are in a safe area. Bring some of that moisture down here would ya! lol
Can't go wrong in the Winds....Well unless there's some destructive JAGOFF lurking. Im from PA and my son and I are flying into Bozeman tomorrow. Gonna try to get to the Cirque on Sat/Sun. Would you mind sharing the satellite app you mention. Thanks and well done!!
Man that is terrible about the vandalism. I always fear it but try to rationalize myself that it never really happens. I’d still like to think it’s a day hiker not a backpacker. I’ve been to that area and a decent number of day hikers were up there.
Do you mind sharing the satellite imagery app you use? So sorry to hear about the vandalism, that is so fucked up and super violating. A similar thing happened to me in the North Cascades, I don't understand it.
I paused it at twelve and a half minutes; nice climb; you both seem confident, is not this grizzly habitat? dangerous. I carry cowbells in washington in remote areas. I carry bear spray also.
There are some grizzly in that area but not a lot. We were making lots of noise, talking loudly and sounded like freight trains stepping on sticks so any bear had ample time to evacuate. But we saw 0 bear sign anywhere in that drainage and 0 bear sign along the ridge. We carry bear spray as well.
Man I really hate most people!! This is just incredibly ridiculous! Such beautiful country and some clown has to come ruin it! Very sad! On a brighter note, phenomenal video as always!
I've met some aggressive people in the Sawtooth's, but this is so inappropriate. Depending on the weather it could cause you harm! I'm honestly always afraid to leave my stuff behind.
I’m appalled by the vandalism incident. I’ve never heard of this happening. It almost seems like they were trying to drive you out so they could get that site. Sabotage is what I’d call it. I hope Mother Nature gets revenge on them on your behalf. Makes a person not want to camp at established sites. 😢
I appreciate you doing such a good job record the trip!💪
Enjoyed your video. The Green River Lakes is my favorite place on earth.

Shocking ! Sorry you suffered from vandalism :( it's sad really. Thank you for sharing :)
Folks can truly suck😒Just glad you both are okay.Great land there🌟Thanks for capturing this beauty Andrew👍

I love Wind River ranch. Have been there several times.
So beautiful! We have the same birds in our Washington woods.

thank you. two successful long trips down, one to go!
Wind Rivers are great multi day hiking. Great if you like long walks. They like Absaroka are real deal.
So beautiful!
Great effort on the day hike! Hope to get over to the Winds soon. WTF though!? Really hard to believe.

lol not the WILD experience you were probably looking for!
Awesome camping spot and sunset!
-Sad people get pissy about things like that. Sorry about your misfortunes but still a great video!
thanks jason. Hope the summer isn't too smokey over there, you guys look like you got very little snowpack!

thanks. I just use "Sentinel Playground" I don't know if there is an app but its a cool website especially for comparing historic snow packs
Wind River Range……paradise
Wyoming landowner and am so disappointed that happened. My GF had her vehicle broken into during a hike.

That's what happens when you try to kill innocent fish 🤣

really sad sorry too here that but great video
Is this the best trail in the Northwest?
No, whats best is very subjective to the individual and their tastes.
@@NorthwestWandererWell it looks wonderful. Excited to be visiting Wyoming soon.

I guess it means next time my wife and I just better hike in further haha
People suck 😒🙄😕😪 I'm so sorry this happened

🤦🏻♀️ vandals. Shameful
