I like that Joe didn’t try to duplicate Eddie note for note. I don’t want to see a clone. He’s playing Van Halen in his own style. Love it.

I love Joe. Saw him with Vai a few months ago. He really can play anything

Eddie Van Halen didn't play it note for note night after night.
Joe is awesome but Vic can play these songs very well.

I just wish his tone matched Edwards a bit more. But overall, stellar job. Nice to hear him play Satch Boogie.

Joe made impossible possible. He captured the heart and soul of Van Halen without slavishly duplicating Eddie. Him and the band remind all the sheer power, beauty, exuberance and depth of this era of Van Halen.

I couldn't think of a better drummer to stand in for Alex than Jason Bonham, son of legendary John Bonham.

There are just about as many Joe Satriani songs as DLR era Van Halen. Would be cool to throw in Unchained or some other Eddie landmarks

Sammy hagar won't sing those songs since he wasn't the writer. Only reason he did the 1984 stuff was because they were the biggest songs VH ever did.

Something has changed with concerts in the past 10-15 years. They're still fun, but it just seems like they rocked so much more back in the day. The audience was more excited, beach balls were bouncing all over the place. I saw Van Halen in 1993 and crowd was crazy. Not in a bad way. So many People were jumping up and down you could feel the concrete floor shaking. No one sat down and the cheers were seriously LOUD! There just seemed to be more of a connection. The new screens and effects are cool, but I like the older lighting style better. The lights blended with the music better than all the screens if the lighting designer was good. The lights were a show themselves. You didn't need a big screen constantly showing the guys on stage because the lights were cool so cool to watch you didn't really need to see the guys up close. The lights and stage were the show. Now its almost like watching them on tv. Vince Neil opened for Van Halen when I saw them. It was almost like seeing Motley Crue and Van Halen in one show. And Joe Satriani is good, but he's not Eddie. Same with Jason Bonham. He's great, but he's not Alex. They just don't sound like Van Halen. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I guess I just remember seeing Van Halen in their prime, and they sounded amazing. I remember when we were leaving I was thinking holy shit, they were good! I was hoping to hear that live again. This is good but it's not Eddie in 1993 good. And I wanted to hear Eddie's solo live again, in that huge f.u.c.k. and Balance tone. I guess it would be disrespectful for Satch to try to recreate Eddie's solo. I have to accept this isn't Van Halen or a tribute band. They're just as close to the real thing we're gonna get now. I'm glad people are posting whole shows. The closest they are coming to me is Jiffy Lube Live. That place is a terrible place to go to a show. Getting out of there when the show is over is a nightmare! It can take 2 hours to get out of the damn parking lot. The last show was the last time I'm ever going there again. I've never seen road rage in a parking lot before. It's a guaranteed fucked up mess trying to get out unless you leave early.

I never was lucky enough to see VH. I was born in 2000 and the closest i got was all the Sammy shows I've been too. Eddie was a big inspiration to me picking up guitar too

You are somewhat correct...but we're all getting older. If I do half the things today I did in 1988, i could be dead. Trust me, I fully agree with you but as time moves on, we just react differently. I will happily take this any day and Monday July 7/22/24 can't get here fast enough.

I am on board with everything you just said. I still go to concerts much as I can. I'm 52 now. General admission got chairs many years back. What a disappointment that was for me. I'm still young in spirit, but concert fare (slam dancing, body surfing, elbows to the body etc.) takes much longer to heal from. Many best memories are from all the random shows I've attended.
At the end of Balance, the screen said largely, " See You Next Tour." Sadly, this was never to happen again.
I love that at least these guys put this together for the fans. It's not, and doesn't pretend to be Van Halen but the spirit is there and backed by the heavy talent. I'd still drop a bill to shake my fists and sing til I was hoarse.
I've wanted to see Satriani play live too since his 1st album. I'm a huge fan. That'd be just gravy for me.
Anyway, I've yakked far too much. Cheers.
Party On and Be Excellent to each other!

Yeah I was a little disappointed they didn't do an encore or dreams. But still a great show. Sammy can still sing a good show
