I don't get the hate for this costume. Sure, I prefer the Jason Todd Red Robin look, but this one looks great too IMO. Will fit great on my Batman allies shelf.
I got into dc comics around their new 52 run and I always wanted this figure because the dc collectibles one was wayyyyy to expensive so I’m glad this came out! Better than the Gotham knights one imo
I’m in two minds in picking this up… my favourite has always been the Red Robin with the cowl- especially when he takes the cowl off and knowing McFarlane we’ll get an unmasked figure later on, so do I hold off and wait and see if that costume gets made or just say screw it ??
I actually like the N52 look and it was the first reboot I read from start to finish issue by issue. Figure looks great aside from the usual McF quirks! It’s a pass for me as I’ve given up on Todd’s DC figures but I’ll keep coming back every time to watch you review ‘em. Thanks Brad!
Love this figure, and I'm glad it is the New 52 design because that original design where he has the Batman like cowl without the ears is something I truly despise with all my heart! It just looks incomplete. Clearly, this one is better than that old one with superior articulation, and especially wings that work. Yes, the staff is too thick, but maybe that's to help prevent long, skinny, plastic thing droop. After years of being a comics fan, AND getting into (just) Batman before the New 52 launched, I never got any of the hate for that relaunch. It comes across to me similar to how a bunch of older, longtime fans complained about the Star Wars prequels because they're not like the thing they loved, or simply there was a change. There was also some truly great things in that era too. One of Batman's greatest runs, if not the best ever. The greatest run on Green Lantern finishing with a huge bang. Aquaman's greatest run. One of Flash's best runs. Probably the best Green Arrow (Lemire's run) since Grell. Swamp Thing's amazing run and the fact that his book mattered after years of not really having a true solo title. One of the best JL runs ever. The elevation of Harley to the fourth pillar of DC. The invention of the JL Dark. The elevation of Cyborg to A lister. Plus so much more. Was there crap as well? Sure, but let's not pretend the New 52 was some sort of "Everything is ruined!" era of DC. Anyway, love the Tim Drake figure. Definitely better than Gotham Knights one. I would love to see some more New 52 designs come from McFarlane!
Just found this figure at Walgreens. I'm mostly an inbox collector, but there was only one on the peg and the box was bent and dented. So I purposely got it so I wouldn't feel bad opening it lol I'm still having anxiety about it, but once he's out and posed next to his other out of box brethren I'm sure I'll be happy. I like this figure a lot for somereason. Don't have any other Red Robin figures and only one Tim Drake, while I have multiple Red Hoods and Nightwings. He deserves some representation IMO.
New 52 Red Robin is Tim Drakes ONLY unique costume. Its the only one that makes him stand out in any way. His first Red Robin costume was not only Dicks design from an alt universe, in universe it was Jasons first. And all his Robin costumes are mostly just varitions on the classic look, and honestly we dont need a Tim Drake Robin figure when we already have a Damian figure. There doesnt need to be 2 Robins (just like in the comics where its a gigantic mess right now). So honestly this was the best option for a Tim Drake costume if we had to get a Tim Drake in the line.
Nightwing and Redhood didn't really have too much of a costume change with Rebirth. Yeah Nightwing switched back to Blue but his red suit was always just a red version of the blue suit but with armor lines. So I count them as "new52" due to being practically the same suit. Three Jokers Batgirl costume is the new52 costume sans armor lines(notice a trend). So I think it also counts. But of course none of that changes the strong opinion.....he was at the bottom of Tim Drake costume lists. It's like we want a standard Wonder Woman an a standard Robin. Not the looks that lasts for a minute with no one wishing for it's return.
This is a shame I really thought about getting this figure I can’t deal with McFarlane scaling problem and lazy painting applications and often weird articulation imputation , I’m just not a Multi-verse fan if I see it in the store I’d think about it thanks for the honest review.
I grabbed this figure for my Bat family display. Right now they're a mix and match family but I think they look decent enough together. I would like to get the most modern interpretations of each character if possible but for now I'm glad we got a better Tim Drake figure than the Gotham Knights version.
Any thoughts for customizing? Would trying to turn this into a Hawkman figure be ridiculously impossible? I'm thinking yes, haha. But I love the idea of using the head for a Nightwing figure, to me that is the absolute perfect Nightwing headsculpt. Always looking for ideas and projects with these McFarlane DC figures, keeps me busy!
@@HELLO_KORO **YEA FRICKIN EXACTLY!!!! AND IT IS NOW CANON IN REBIRTH THAT OUR BOI TIM IS GAY/BI....screw that. I ended my reading comics with him when he became batman beyond ((I wanted him to graduate to that finally!! In the last new 52 run. Not perfect but I stopped at that and good enough!))**

I hope they give us a masked version. Thanks Brad for the review
This ROBIN stayed ready so he wouldn't have to get ready. 👍🏿
Hello, brad! You have just officially became my #1 dc toys reviewer, thank you so much for making things understandable unlike others! I subscribed!

Great figure! Most likely will be buying it. Tim is the only Robin I never had a figure of.
I'm excited to get him now he looks amazing
No way I actually got a Red Robin ad LOL

At the end when you listed off the rest of the rogue gallery that we needed I love you for that brad🤣😭
I think it looks very cool
Isn't the first red hood we got a new 52 red good along with the unmasked
I absolutely love this figure! Great review Brad!
Never been this early lol
I would have preferred the pre new 52 RR suit(with the cowl) or his One Year Later suit. I may try making a custom from this.
I hope they do the classic/Kingdom Come Red Robin or the Red and Black Tim Drake Robin suit
Same here
Okay cool video

I wish had classic red Robin (pre 52)
We do have a 52 version of redhood and Nightwing.
Exactly.

Are the wings removable?
I do really like this look, but I do hope they give us other versions of him soon, too.
I grabbed this figure for my Bat family display. Right now they're a mix and match family but I think they look decent enough together. also I heated up the back and took off the wings. I like it more for ground poses.
Now just paint him green and give us kiteman

I was hoping for the Tim Drake Robin from Animated Series
i wish the wings were removable
He does look like he should be hawk man sidekick though
I bought 2 Red Robins from the same store and one didn't come with the trading card. Not even the spot for it.
Great review Brad…. I wish Mcfarlane ‘s figs had abdomen and thigh articulation …. In doing so would improve quality etc… thx
Bro i have him display with the 5 pack batfamily
I prefer the classic Red Robin suit
all i want is his 1st appearance costume. these new costumes they got are WACK .
Hey man isn't that red hood the first one he did from The New 52
You should do a video on CW The Flash mcfarlane dc multiverse it came out today and godspeed when he comes out
Haha,im sorry but i really like this figure, lol ,would have loved a spare head with the over the head cowl i like tims original cozzy too though
. Only thing i dont like is him carrying a drainpipe around, lol, the staff is far too thick
Im early!
Yea .. I say no to Tim drake
There is a new 52 red hood. What are you talking about. You literally showed it
so thats a pipe- not a bo staff- Mcfarlane is really a let down (for me).... great comparison with his other versions
**THIS ---->>>>> OVER THE GAWD AWFUL LAZY DC REBIRTH.**
Lmao it was just a Robin suit with 2 R's

Hard pass.
