I’m with you on this. The articulation on this one was very disappointing. I absolutely love the look of Damian but after I got him in a good pose where he could stand, I haven’t touched him since.
I’m soooooo glad that you don’t take pictures and stress that all companies are great. As consumers we should always hold ALL companies to high expectations. In doing so, companies will likely produce products that are worthy of purchase. Some guys take great pictures, and stress that every figure is good, when in fact, vices are entrenched into the product. I appreciate your work because you skillfully examine the functionality and aesthetics, while at the same time leave consumers with an appropriate overview that they may make their own choice without be skewed , thx
I think I know what the deal is with the hands. I dont think theyre necessarily trigger fingers. I think theyre supposed to be a combination of fist hands, open hands, and holding hands. Essentially trying to make one set of hands with three functions, but kind of failing at all three.
I thought it looked too cartoony too, like anime. Then I checked out the comic and that's how he's drawn. They should have given him double joined elbows. Weak release. He looks great but come on McFarlane. 🤨
The Robin in the Animated Series was Dick Grayson, but the suit was Tim Drake's from the comics. Also known as Robin 2, despite Tim being the 3rd person to take on the persona, it was the 2nd Robin in terms of physical appearance. That one is my favorite.
Dick Graysen was the first Robin in the animated series and Tim Drake was the second one (in the animated series, in the comics hes 3 like u said) And this figure seems to be the Rebirth suit
I like all of Tim’s suit. His first suit that wore on the 90’s was my favorite, but his current one with some black between the red and green is my favorite.
For the Qotd I'd have to say my favorite robin suit was probably tim drakes from the animated series. I personally liked the mostly red suit with the black boots and gloves. The yellow on the inside of the cape always looked real nice to me too. Simple design, but the colors do it for me
I really do not understand why they can't seem to get the articulation and sculpts right. I have a few Multiverse figures, but I always dread the idea of getting them because I know they'll be hard to stand due to their ugly ankle/knee joints. They do not need to add ratches to the ball joints.
Maybe that DC toys no gun rule is to stop Todd from giving them all ridiculous 90's guns. "So, Gorilla Grodd, I was thinking he could have this massive gun..." "Sigh... No, Todd" "Ok, how about Superman? Hear me out, he could have these huge gu..." "Shit, you know what, NO GODDAMN GUNS, Todd. For anyone. None." And that's how all the figures ended up with trigger finger hands.
Let me get attacked real quick. A lot of these look accurate, but I think Mattel stopped just before they were going to get it right. I hope Hasbro or jaswear gets DC one day
From a distance, it looked pretty cool, but looking closely, it's very flawed. I wish the head wasn't so cartoony, and I hate how tall he is compared to Batman. Damien should be way smaller.
I think between the newest anniversary target Batman and the Batman in the Build a horse wave, we might be seeing some better figures articulation-wise in future releases And hopefully they never look back at these sub par molds
The hands you get can hold the shuriken well enough. Todd used to make figures that looked great but had next to no articulation. Since getting the DC multiverse contract he’s doing a lot of articulation. I want a figure that looks great no matter how you pose it. But you won’t get this from a figure line like multiverse because of the price point. This is something you’d expect from figures like figuarts, mafex or Mezco. The engineering of those figures in theory justifies the price point. That’s why people tend to be more critical about more expensive figures that don’t get basic things right like having limited joints whilst being so expensive.
I may be wrong, but I think the price difference comes from the accesories, sculpt, fabric, import cost and just at the end of it, engineering. Just look at the G.I. Joe classified series Snake eyes, it is an amazing figure for the same price.
@@jeanlucacanomontiel4824 could be. I always thought that it seems that a figure that’s got loads of accessories at the same price point as one that doesn’t is less impressive in other aspects. Like it’ll have less detail or the paint apps are worse etc. Interesting tho
They're getting better with giving us alternate hands as the newer releases like The Dark Knight Returns line will have alternate hands, even giving fist hands for Superman and Batman. I was strongly disappointed that Dr Fate has trigger hands with no accessories.
I believe there are some mcfarlane designers don’t know what they are doing at all. I even think they don’t collect action figures at all. How a toy designer can make a stupid thing like this and they keep doing that. McFarlane really need some professional designers in the team.
I got really suck into McFarlanes DC line from wave one. Just kinda accepting/putting up with the various flaws and weirdness. But over the last few months design, QC, everything has fallen off a cliff. I got the full 66 set and it looks awesome together - but that’s it, I’m out. The final straw was the 2nd year Batman which was just a complete and utter mess out of the box.
Damn shame. This is his rebirth suit, why don't they make him the same scale as his rebirth teammates? I have Beast Boy and Kid Flash and they seem to be similar height. Damian should be way shorter than them! Really disappointed I can't get the team together in the same scale. Will be skipping this one
I refuse to buy McFarlane for several reasons. I love and appreciate the unique sculpt and paint, but the scale kills it for me. 1/12th scale, always. In addition to that, the articulation is atrocious. I appreciate McFarlane trying articulation because I don't want statues, I want action figures. But much of the articulation is so ugly that we can't pose them like that anyway. Also, Tim Drake has the best costume. Both of his.
I'm willing to bet there's a DC/Warner Bros BeanCounter micromanaging this. I'm beginning to think the trigger finger hands are a subtle fuck you to the no guns mandate.
I would rather someone else get the DC license and make them in scale with marvel legends. I still have a couple of mcfarlane dc figures but they just look like giants next to marvel legends.
"Do you understand why all the DC figures have trigger finger hands?"
So they can shot Bruce Wayne's parents?
😂😂😂
Yeah of course
😂😂😂 Good One
I’m with you on this. The articulation on this one was very disappointing. I absolutely love the look of Damian but after I got him in a good pose where he could stand, I haven’t touched him since.
Remember when the halo figures didn't come with the trigger finger hand. Now they fixed it ... kind of :))
Lol

My favorite Robin costume is the 90s Tim Drake version.
Coming soon!
Overall sculpt of Mcfarlane Toy's are superb. But they need to add a dumbbell ball joint for the leg's to make it stand up without a figure stand.
The Robin in the Animated Series was Dick Grayson, but the suit was Tim Drake's from the comics. Also known as Robin 2, despite Tim being the 3rd person to take on the persona, it was the 2nd Robin in terms of physical appearance. That one is my favorite.

And this figure seems to be the Rebirth suit
I liked the Tim Drake Robin who was just red and black, with a yellow belt and yellow r symbol
I agree with you on Damian's suit. I think it looks really cool. I love the Assassin vibes to it as well, with the long ending of the tunic.
Favorite Robin suit is Tim Drake’s red and black post death of Superboy
I like all of Tim’s suit. His first suit that wore on the 90’s was my favorite, but his current one with some black between the red and green is my favorite.
I gotta say, new 52 jason todd Robin, that's my favourite Robin suit
I think it would be cool if they had made that a figure, still possible, but not very likely
I think he's tall like that because he's supposed to be the more late teen version like he was in Justice League Dark: Apokolips War
Favorite Robin look/costume is the Tim Drake design from the 90s solo robin comic run.
"I like Di- OKAY"
I also love di......robin
1:30 .... gd one
Todd should watch this to improve their figs
Tim drake the red and black uniform is my favorite, I think it was to honor superboy who passed away so he used his colors
For the Qotd I'd have to say my favorite robin suit was probably tim drakes from the animated series. I personally liked the mostly red suit with the black boots and gloves. The yellow on the inside of the cape always looked real nice to me too. Simple design, but the colors do it for me

Young Justice season 1 is by far my favorite Robin suit.
Maybe that DC toys no gun rule is to stop Todd from giving them all ridiculous 90's guns.

"Sigh... No, Todd"

Definitely need to get the articulation to work right.
From a distance, it looked pretty cool, but looking closely, it's very flawed. I wish the head wasn't so cartoony, and I hate how tall he is compared to Batman. Damien should be way smaller.
Yes,it's Damian.
Did you see Red Hood leak of Gotham Knights figure? It's alternate hands are fingers posed as guns instead of actual guns
5:26 leard that the hard way when i boke my copyes rights rim
I think between the newest anniversary target Batman and the Batman in the Build a horse wave, we might be seeing some better figures articulation-wise in future releases

Because of The Flying Graysons. With the trapeze.

Alternate hands are a must.
I'm just here still waiting on them to get around to doing more of the animated Teen Titans team. Poor Cyborg is all alone...
I believe there are some mcfarlane designers don’t know what they are doing at all. I even think they don’t collect action figures at all. How a toy designer can make a stupid thing like this and they keep doing that. McFarlane really need some professional designers in the team.
My favorite Robin suit is the one worn by my favorite Robin; Tim Drake.
tim drakes red n black suit my favorite
My favorite is robin from arkham city game. That suit is so cool!
I don’t understand why this one was released, I like the previous one more.. My favorite Robin suit is Tim Drake’s first suit!!
Ditch the figure stands and give me some alternate hands instead.....nuff said
For question of the day- Articulation
The cost of pumping out a billion of the same figure stand would not offset the cost of new hand sculpts.
I got really suck into McFarlanes DC line from wave one. Just kinda accepting/putting up with the various flaws and weirdness.

Well my all-time favorite Robin is Dick's original look, then Tim's look.
I have two DC Figures from McFarlane.. one is Azrarel who is great, and the then Teen Titans Animated Series Cyborg. Cyborgs arms just fall off lol
I miss the DC Icons line. They were. proper 1/12 and looked better
Good review. I dnt get y he doesn't have dbl elbows & knees
Damn shame. This is his rebirth suit, why don't they make him the same scale as his rebirth teammates? I have Beast Boy and Kid Flash and they seem to be similar height. Damian should be way shorter than them! Really disappointed I can't get the team together in the same scale. Will be skipping this one
To answer your 3rd question of the day, I'd rather McFarlane lose dc's license, he is way too arrogant to make ACTION figure anyway 😂
How can you be too arrogant to make action figures? that doesn't even make sense.
Cant stand McFarland articulation in the slightest. Horrible legs, feet etc so poses look like crap. Nope
Also, Tim Drake has the best costume. Both of his.
Tim drake look from the 90’s comic (patches on the sleeves and gloves
You like what?
1:29
The original Robin
I like Damian Wayne because he has my name Damien but his is with an "a"
Ayooo new review lets goo
Would prefer articulation!
cost cutting measures
I'm willing to bet there's a DC/Warner Bros BeanCounter micromanaging this.
I'm beginning to think the trigger finger hands are a subtle fuck you to the no guns mandate.
Could be except it was happening before that mandate. Oh well
I hope they make the articulation better mainly the ab crunch but robin is one of the worst in terms of articulation
Long #ss legs with some moon stomping boots. He literally looks like a circus act. So maybe he's actually Dick Grayson.
I would rather someone else get the DC license and make them in scale with marvel legends. I still have a couple of mcfarlane dc figures but they just look like giants next to marvel legends.
To be honest that's basically what DCUC is/was. That's what I have in my 6" display.
5/10 is too generous
Should be 3-4/10
what the hell is this articulation lmao, come on mcfarlane
I love this!!!
The weapons aren't appropriate either
Tim Drake Robin
Todd just wants to pump these out fast and cheap.
All McFarlane figures are too tall, and the engineering is terrible, no give up the license
He likes di … 😂 edit
Mcfarlane toys suck
