I saw one show of yours that was not as recent since I am watching as many as I can, starting with the longer videos, but I saw Shenae wearing a Silky shirt and it would be cool if Silky gave a shirt with each purchase. I want others to know about their brand.

Hi Joseph, thanks for your comment. The sickle on the Hayate is indeed designed to do what you described, thanks. The sickle on the Hayauchi is a bit different though and is not designed to do that. As it is made out of the same steel the blade is, it is not strong enough to cut very deeply into a branch. It is simply designed to underscore the branch and prevent bark from tearing down and to cut into small palm frond to separate the bottom fibres. Silky do not want a lot of pressure put on the Hayauchi pole saw in the upward direction, (which you would need to do, as you try to push this sickle into a branch), becasue you risk damaging the locking systems. Good script, but lost amongst all the lengthy giggles and jokes,and “whoops I did it wrong, I am so silly” ALL the way through. It’s an irritating interruption if you’re new to this and seriously trying to follow what is being said, because you genuinely want to buy one. As a woman I thought the women would be giving their experience of using it, which is why I watched it. I couldn’t have been more wrong. You’ve just made women look really stupid by picking women who clearly have never used the equipment, aren’t trying to, never intend to,and can’t hold it even, what’s the point? Or is it just an entertaining titillating video for old men who don’t do any gardening. Pathetic, but could have been so good, if they’d just read the script, and given the impression they at least felt comfortable holding the equipment, and had used it, and were at least interested in gardening. Really bad taste, I didn’t realise Australia ( if that’s where it is) was such a backwater.

The weight and top heaviness is important as a woman, as is the degree of sawing required, and the level of strength required in the upper body.. Seeing someone do this tells the watcher a lot as long as it hasn’t been edited to give a false impression. If you look at videos of weak inexperienced women, some even elderly, or frail, trying to use this equipment, you will see what I mean. When I see a picture of two women advertising equipment, I assume it’s a video to help women who out of unfortunate circumstances and necessity or happy choice need to use the equipment. This video assumes it’s a man’s job, and even worse, that a man will always conveniently be there to do it.

I have in fact used all of the products we demonstrate and even though I am not certified, I have worked in Forestry, Horticulture and Arboriculture off and on throughout my entire life, as that is what three generations of my family have done and we all work together from time to time. So yes, I have a fair idea of what is needed and important when selecting tools in these applications. Most of our videos are designed to provide information, not demonstrations. We create these videos so that you know why the product was made, what is unique about it and the pros and cons. If you would like any more information or even demonstrations, we enjoy and encourage people kindly asking for that. Our videos are not targeted to men, they are for humans. Old, young and all degrees of ability. Silky saws are designed to make gardening as easy and as enjoyable as possible. Regarding pole saws, our videos will often mention that the weight is mostly felt when the pole saw is on an angle, so we always suggest if you are not strong (male or female) then always have the pole as vertical as possible when moving it from one tree to the other. While you are sawing the tree will hold the weight of the saw and that is how my 7 year old son was demonstrating cutting with a 7.7 meter pole saw in one video. It is practically weightless while cutting. It's once the cut is finished that you feel the weight again. Also, Silky pole saws do not require you to apply pressure when cutting. You should NOT be using your arms you should simply be rocking from your front foot to the back foot and gravity will give more than enough pressure for the blade to cut into the branch. I’ve read about kick back on chainsaws, and it seems to be when the saw or chain is stopped by coming into contact with another branch or being squeezed. Does that mean if I had a small pole chain saw, that I can’t let it touch anything, other than the branch I’m cutting because it might cause kick back? If you only do manual pole saws, don’t worry. Thanks.
@@marinka424 We only sell and have in-depth information on Silky Saws, which are manual pole saws. Battery chainsaws are normally quite heavy and are not weightless while using them as they are not hooked. From my understanding, there is a variety of reasons a chainsaw can kick back, so a higher safety consideration. 🙂

The actual main reason for the sickle, is to undercut the branch being cut so when it falls away it won't tear the cambium layer.
