My son Tyson, at 6 won king of Missouri at flat nasty kids class last weekend, with your trailmaster pro 1700kv motor, turned down to just 30% with a 2 cell it has an enormous amount of torque and speed over the stock setup in his trx4. We're both ecstatic with all of your motors.
Some good caps, hot battery and programmable esc are what lift the front wheels off the ground, the kv on a brushless setup keeps them in the air and a programmable esc provides the tunable throttle curves that you need. Hell, even a stock motor with programmable esc and some hot high c rated batteries should pull enough rp.m to do the trick. Given at least 15 turn 5 slot or like 33 turn 3 slot. Right on man!
Think I only ever sold one rc in 30 years....MIGHT have atomized a few of my toygrade ones as a boy though....thanks again Mr. Konrad for beeing part of and sticking to your grandson and me's "tiny meteor-story" after that sudden hole in your lawn to the very end, true legend, I know you're still laughing with us about it up there somewhere haha..!
I bought a 79 Bronco TRX4 and immediately put in a Mamba X and 2850kv Slate motor. Also swapped a new Blazer body on it and sold the new Bronco body! Can’t wait or see this thing on the channel testing out prototypes!!
Oh wow Number 1 👍!!! Awesome Job John love where your going & what you're doing! Great Parts & Awesome service, Thank you for impacting the rc Hobby! My personal favorite. 🤜🤛👊👍 & exactly what's in my Vs410pro!!!! & love it.
Awesome, love to get this set up for one of May TRX 4’s I have two 79 Broncos the one the speed controller is burnt out, I also have on the way the new axial early bronco can’t wait to get that one appreciate you sharing love your videos I’ll be watching more
87-92 , my dad had an 89 in 92 got my license in that truck, my have done things in it like , doughnuts (9inch rear-end) drove down the street on 2 wheels (getting sideways from gravel to pavement.....scary!) Mud passed the door jams in a gully and got out. Jumped the table top at local dirtbike track and cleared the flat spot landing perfectly (softer then hitting speed bump) oh yeah and I totaled it too! Opps. But really it was a tuff truck from the abuse I'd put it through every weekend!
I also hated the motor plate mesh idea. But it friggin works awesome. Not to tight and not to loose. Just perfect! I find the trx4 easier to swap than the scx10.
Awesome choice of body style. I just picked up the black 79 K5 Blazer, basically for the nostalgia factor as well. Can't wait to see you tear the body off with that combo installed!
I just got this setup in the mail and everything is installed in the Bronco and calibrated per the instructions. Is there any way to use the brake functionality with this ESC and the TRX4 transmission? I had to reverse the throttle channel like you did but that also means that the brake function only works on reverse which is a big problem. Instinctively hitting the brakes to slow down when going forward would result in instant full reverse and likely damage to the transmission or portals. I am an RC airplane guy so I’m used to being able to swap any two brushless motor leads in order to reverse the rotation. It seems that this is not an option with a sensored motor? Thanks for any suggestions.
If your drag brake is strong enough you will never actually use the brake function. But, reverse the throttle channel back, go into castle link programming and reverse the ESC direction, then adjust neutral trim on the radio until it arms.
I found a Castle Link. It worked like a charm. Problem solved. The TRX4 on the stock 11T pinion is perfect. It now creeps at impossibly slow speeds in first gear, goes cartoonishly fast in second. On 3s, my GPS says 24mph…but it looks and feels so much quicker than this number indicates.
Nice!!!! My nephew has the same one. It is a killer looking and performing rig. I think this combo would be a great giveaway!!!! Just a suggestion bro!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have been so indecisive about going full size Bronco or Blazer....first. They both look great, and even worse, the Orange/Whie and Black/Red Blazer both look killer.
The orange & white looks like a cream-sickle !!! 😆 Obviously, I like the Red & Black TRX4, but I already have a bad ass crawler with stock overdrive in 1st gear, and a (1:1) in 2nd gear !!! 😁 So, unfortunately I won't be buying a TRX4 anytime soon !! ☹️ They are solid rigs, and can DEFINETLY take a beating !!!! 👍🤘 - I really love my GMADE (GS02F), it is EVERYTHING an RC-er could want in a crawler, except the extreme durability of the TRX4 does not exist in this GS02F chassis !!! 😔 But, for example, I would not trade my GMADE for a TRX4, - NO WAY. The GMADE (IS) the BEST STOCK RC CRAWLER ON THE MARKET, due to the "functionality"of its' drivetrain and location of all components !!!! Easy to work on as well !! - Check one out !!! You will not be disappointed !!!! 😉 👍🤘 💪🇺🇸
Looks great. I didn't think you can bind (calibrate) a different ESC to a traxxas reciever. I am waiting for the Traxxas Bronco 2021. And yes, I have sold RC's. Thanks for the video.
I run the 1800kv Revolver paired with a SW4 in my 1979 Bronco . . Seen you mention missing body clips but new it has 2 and others are in parts bag . . Also heard the departure and approach clearance . . Pull the bumper mounts and move the front to back and install upside down . . You might have tonadjust body posts or mod the body after the bumper mount swap and flip . . Think it would be cool if you seen mine in action on rocks where i crawl here in southwest Oklahoma . . I have a couple vids of it running with the Revolver
very good video, am very inspired , I have a question! I own a RC4 WD Bully 2. with moa axles, would like a controller and motor for each axis and motor which ones would you pick?
An awesome free rear bumper mod is to unbolt the rear bumper from the tow hitch and just use the tow hitch as the bumper and make sure to mount the tow hitch in upside down. Only major draw back is the body is no longer protected on the back.
drop in replacement, that is a great choice. But if you have the 2 speed it will wear brushes fast. I would recomend a crawlmaster sport 550 version for the 2 speed. less power, but brushes last forever. We have reports of them getting over 500 miles.
Man nnnnn thank you so much I just bought this motor and it was uncontrollable with stock trx4 sport kit gearing. Thankfully the first gear set seems low enough!
Not sure about that. There are so many avenues of contact and the page was becoming problematic. Not sure how to handle it where it won't cause a big increase in labor and headache.
Was wondering for a trx4 sport for crawling and slow trailing, what engine would you recommend? Thinking of changing my esc also and that copperhead looks really neat!
That old school gold casio bill nie the science guy watch ⌚️ 👌 😅that thing is retro as hell looking, lools lile it probably has a calculator built into it 🤓 😂sweet 🤘! Great video thanks mr. Holmes hobbies! I have had a stubby 2700kv puller pro that i purchased and have been sitting on since I bought it and i cant figure out what castle esc to pair to it. I have been thinking about the mamba x or this "copperhead 10" whata re the benefits of each one, as in putting it i. My heavy 4ws capra with vanquish everything as well as vanquish 3 gear transmission!
I have a question Mr Holmes. I have a Sidewinder 3 paired with a 1800kv revolver in a Everest 10. Its like an on off switch and has little to no low speed control. Would getting a castle link and messing with settings help with that? And if so what settings would you recommend?
Sw3 is old tech. You can copy what I do on the Copperhead and make it better. Also add torque limiting. But it won't be as smooth as sw4 or Copperhead.
Is the copper head smoother starting then the other castle esc. it seems to be to me. I have one in a ryft with a puller pro r 2700 it’s the 2 speed and the low speed control is amazing. it’s almost like driving a revolver. so I was wondering is it the motor or the esc I mean it’s got the 6shooter beat with the way it goes over stuff with out Much throttle input 6shooter is in scx10 ii Just wondering for Future build
Swap that Copperhead out for a Mamba X. Use the aux wire for the rock racing function put a splitter on the two-speed servo that way when it's in 2nd gear you turn off the drag brake.
And I still feel no want for a two speed, and omg, can we get rid of about 5 pounds of that plastic? I live on the edge of one of Washingtons nicer 4X4 trail systems. So the stupid copperhead is 5.5V OR 7.5V to rx....what buggers eh? I was certain we would be free of the external BEC requirement but nope....still only mambax and up. Did the 5.5V work ok?
I love the super low then you get 2nd gear wheel speed. It makes for an all around bad ass rig. Axial 2 speed sucks. Traxxas killed it with the trx4. I can't wait until their second generation.
Some of the mesh placements are way too tight FYI. An example for a 12T pinion it’s better to use E position as it works much better than the D position in the manual. In D it makes the truck sound like a 50’s Autocar dump truck in granny gears

Cool man I used to have a k10 blazer and a two door Tahoe both lifted. But that was before married and kids lol. I loved them so much!!
Wow... Traxxas always produce awesome RC car
That’s a sweet watch you got there John!
I love it!

I have the PP V2 3500kv and Mamba X in my Trx4. Loving the combo!
What’s the top speed on your trx 4 in second gear with that set up?
I also hated the motor plate mesh idea. But it friggin works awesome. Not to tight and not to loose. Just perfect! I find the trx4 easier to swap than the scx10.
Awesome video as always. I cant wait to see it rip.
The look I got from my girlfriend when you said "I don't know anyone who sells..... they just horde and horde..... lmao priceless
I built a sport and put a trailmaster 3300 in it. The thing is a blast!
Thanks! I might pull the trigger and get the blazer trx4….
Awesome choice of body style. I just picked up the black 79 K5 Blazer, basically for the nostalgia factor as well. Can't wait to see you tear the body off with that combo installed!
John that watch is 100% NERD OG! Love it.
I have a 1979 Ford F150 Ranger and it's a worm of art with the 351 Cleveland down in it.
I run a 3300kv Puller Pro with a Mamba X in mine. Second gear is insane!
I thought I haven’t had any problems overheating with it, stock.
Mooooooore power!

That is such a beautiful body I would have to get a spare body for bashing to keep it pristine. Especially with a 3500kV motor.
Welllll you won't want to see the next vid....
@@HolmesHobbies I'll get over it. Wouldn't miss it for the world.
It's my fault. lol great truck!
Awesome video, less than an hour ago i unboxed my trx4 Blazer. 😎
I just installed the bl pro 3300kv and the copperhead esc in my sport! This things a monster!!
If you bought it, hoard it! Also curious if your watch is from 1979 like the truck body. Thanks for sharing always enjoy the videos.
I personally like the 1978 Bronco with the round headlights.
The Bronco was my first rig getting into rc. With a 2850kv on 4s the rear bember takes a beating on asphault.
My favorite bronco, the one oj Simpson had!!!!!
Nice!!!! My nephew has the same one. It is a killer looking and performing rig. I think this combo would be a great giveaway!!!! Just a suggestion bro!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have the all black Bronco body that I bought separate. I'm really liking the red on the sides.

The Copperhead is great and all but the ESC I really want is a full sized Crawlmaster from Holmes Hobbies. Any news on when I can get one?
Working on it, but its a long project to make escs.
@@HolmesHobbies If it's half as good as my BRXL it's worth the wait!!
Does the ESC just get taped to the skit plate? Or how do you fasten it to the truck?
It was a mid-year change. The round headlights in 1978 I wish Traxxas modeled their Bronco after that one. I would like a full size as well!!! LoL
Looks great. I didn't think you can bind (calibrate) a different ESC to a traxxas reciever. I am waiting for the Traxxas Bronco 2021. And yes, I have sold RC's. Thanks for the video.

2200kv or 1800kv for straight crawling is fantastic! I'd use a Puller pro 540 or Revolver 540. The puller pro makes less noise.
@@HolmesHobbies I was thinking of the crawlmaster 550. The puller pro is better?
Also a great choice to use a crawlmaster. I was just in brushless mode because of the vid and your choice of esc.
@BEAR TRAX RCthanks!
I just ordered the 2700kv pro puller and the mamba x for my 79 blazer the stinking brushed motor just doesn’t crawl slow enough for me
Your content is almost as amazing as your shirt! :P Keep it up dude. o7

What about the brakes on reversed controls. You need to flip motor wires and reverse the throttle again. I think this is the proper way for your setup
Not a problem with how I set it up . But reversing the throttle and reversing direction in the esc would be proper
I got a trx4 blazer that after watching this video I went brushless . I bit the bullet bought the copper head 10 , 3800kv motor running it censored
