I lived in NYC all my life and spent a ton of time in the Herald Square area for work and pleasure. This year, I decided to visit on my birthday last month, along with the Vessel and the Edge. I was the first person on line at 11 a.m. and purchased the ticket the day before. I loved how empty it was, and it was a perfectly sunny, clear day.
I am still in love with the Empire State building and I took many pictures os the great Apple in the mid to late 1990s and in 2002, 2004 and 2008 when I went to the Empire State building with my cousin in February of 2008. Great memories!
I brought my daughter for her first visit last month and she really wanted to go to the top of the Empire State Building. We went at night, and with the new museum exhibit to visit first, it was totally worth it. She loved being above the city and, since it had been 33 years since my last visit to the ESB, I loved it too.
Gotta love Manhattan , New York! I loved going to the observation deck of the Empire State Building. The city looks so beautiful at night. I can’t wait to go back to New York City, and visit the Empire State Building again.
This is such an iconic and memorable time in both your lives. It’s fantastic that you’ll be able to look back and share these times together. The two of you against the Manhattan sunset is brilliant, it looks like you had a blast guys. I’m praying almost daily that I’ll be allowed, Covid permitting, that I’ll be able to bring my grown up family over in 21 with me. 🙏🏻🤞🏻😷.
I read that they're going to renovate the Chrysler building and construct a new observation deck near the gargoyles. It would be really nice if they were able to restore its old resturant too
NOTHING beats the view fron the top of New York City's iconic Empire State Building!!! I have been up there countless times ! Its always awesome, anytime of day or night!!! If you are planning a trip to the Big Apple definitely hit the Empire State Building!!! Thank you both for another amazing video of the Greatest City in the world!! Keep healthy and safe David and Adriana!
I remember going up to the 102nd floor back in 2018. One of the guys said you look like a 6th grader and I said " No I am a 3rd grader" And he was like 😯
Wanted to stop by and say Thank you John for your videos. My girlfriend are about to take off from NYC and the video helped in so many ways. We got a chance to do so much from the NYC City pass and everything you put in here. From hidden gems, the bars to try, helpful tips from out of towners. They were a big help and made our trip extra special for us and my best friend and his wife when they came in May. Anyone traveling to the NYC area needs to watch his videos they are amazing! Happy Holidays Here a Barr
No matter how many times I go up the Empire State Building the view just makes the hairs on my neck stand up. Even watching this video. I hope I can get back to NYC in may.
I've been to the ESB three or four times (including once to the 102nd floor) although always with massive numbers of tourists. It is definitely different (and better) with fewer people.
I didn't see the Empire State Building when I was in NYC. Literally. It was before you were born, in the late 60's, and there was a brownout and pollution mess. My Dad took us to Rockefeller Center instead and the pollution was so bad, we couldn't see the streets, the river or the ESB from the top. Thanks for the great tour.
Thanks for the tour. Since I’m a Born and breed NY’er of 70 year’s I’ve never been there. Now I don’t have to go for the next 70 years. But I do live on a high floor of a NYC high rise so do have a view of the building and the sunsets. Though not that high.
The Empire State Building is the best because of it's art deco design and artistry. Some modern skyscrapers are just metal boxes. Never been to the Edge, but it does look cool. The old World Trade Center was just a box but I have fond memories being at Windows on the World at sunset having drinks and appetizers while looking down on The Statue of Liberty. 🗽
You captured this so well. Perfect weather & visibility. So much better without the massive amount of people. I was there only a few years ago and Id love to go back and see the changed layout of that 106th fl viewing area. I guess you don’t need the express ticket either to skip the lines.
Hi Jon, I first visited NYC in 2017. Same as you were a kid, my daughter was also 8 years old and she and I were so impressed by the views on the empire state observation deck. All the sparkling lights, I still remember her saying: wow dad, the world is so big 😊 After 2017 I visited NYC 3 more times. I live in Belgium and was planning to come to NYC this year but due to the pandemic it wasn't possible. Next year I'll hope to be back. I would really love to meet you in real life! Your videos are the best. I'm always waiting for the next video to come. Keep making these! John
Great video 👍! I usually get bummed out watching these because theres an over abundance of commentary and seems you add in a lot of interaction you had during the tour and what we could experience! Loved it thank you
I've watched so many of your video and they have been so helpful. Thank you for all the great information. I have been able to plan a well researched vacation due to them. All the best to you and your wife.
I would love to see it. I’m in NY right now. But as a traveler from ATL my number one destination was that bull on Wall St. and I saw it tonight. For me my trip is complete haha.
The Empire State Building is the only observation deck that I haven’t visited yet. I’ve been to One World, The Edge, On Top of The Rock, and The Summit.
I’m glad that you were able to go up there. I usually go there once every couple of months or so to get the sunrise or sunset to do my photography. The views are amazing. The ESB has invited me as an influencer to catch the ESBvip area which is also amazing. Thanks for sharing this.
Have to get back to see the updated observation deck! So cool you can see DE on a clear day (where I live)! I just visited The Edge (after seeing your video on that). It was also breathtaking. Not a great weather day, but still so impressive! Thanks for all the great insights into NYC!
This video convinces be to take the tour(DEC 2022). By that time, there were a lot of people there. And because it was December, it was freezing. Way too cold for my Californian blood😂😂. But I’m so glad I went. I had such a great time. I took loads of pictures & got a few souvenirs.
I‘ve been to One World and Top Of The Rocks. For me the One World had the best views with Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan as well as the Empire State Building. The sunset there was terrific but in the night you had bad luck taking pictures because of the glass and the lightning, Top of the Rocks was totally different with their open platforms - wonderful view over Manhattan including the central park. To be honest: I think all of them are really pricy (e.g. 38$ for One World). So if you would have to decide: for the classic New York View: Top of the Rocks. For something totally different (water, Brooklyn, being over 400 metres high) visit One World
I still remember the old prices when I went up: in 2003 standard entry was $11 - $13ish and you couldn't go to the highest floor. In 2008 it was $19 or $34 to go to the extra height.
Went to the top in early March (b4 C19) with a EARLY morning reservation - NO crowd. The top is small and if there are fraidy cats up there, it becomes hard to navigate around them.
Hi Thank you for the great information about the crazy rental prices in NYC. I used to live in Valhalla, Westchester County, beautiful, exciting and cheap compared to NYC. The train will dropped me in 42nd St. in 30 min. Now I enjoy my sunsets in Venice Beach, Ca. Keep the wonderful videos coming.
The one time I went up there the elevators broke at the 85th floor. We were given a choice to climb the stairs to the top or not. Here I thought "Well, it's only sixteen floors, not great but, not so bad." Oh, how wrong I was!! The stairs are very, very narrow and there was a huge crowd behind me all the way up that all seemed to be younger and fitter than I was. I was literally gasping for breath and my muscles were screaming in pain by the top I got to the top. You simply could not stop anywhere and the pace all the way up was a sprint. The view was nice but, I wouldn't do that again. Top of the Rock or another local high building. No more Empire State Building except for lower floors! FYI the architecture in the building is lovely.
I’m suppose to be going to NYC in December flying from the UK and I really hope it will go ahead due to covid , it’s always been my dream to visit and I will be truly heartbroken if I can’t come 💔🤞🏻
2011 I was there I was only 16. Need to go back now because been from Ireland I want to try some Guinness in NYC gonna try go back this year around November
John hi, not sure if you will see this comment but here goes. While in New York I visited the Empire State. I wanted to visit the Chrysler building but was told it was not open to the public, then I was told you can visit the lobby and the shop which I would have loved to do. Is there any chance you could do a video on the Chrysler to clarify the situation. Thank you
Thanks for the amazing video. Yes, 5 observation decks in NYC, that's great. Would not be wonderful if there was a pass for the 5 decks, I would certainly buy it for my future visit 💖😊
Beautiful shots of the sunset! I haven't been back to the Empire State Building since the 1960's. I remember most of all the stomach dropping high speed elevator ride. Is it still that way?

Thinking about visiting in a few weeks for the Christmas market, great video.
Good luck. A lockdown is coming very soon.
Beautiful building I would love to visit so much been my dream for a long time ❤️
The view was outstanding
Definitely is a must!

Beautiful shots of the sunset! I haven't been back to the Empire State Building since the 1960's. I remember most of all the stomach dropping high speed elevator ride. Is it still that way?
Nah, elevator ride was smooth, little ear popping is all.
Beautiful view huge building
Wonderful video. Thank you! 😊
Wow beautiful 😍😍😍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🗽🗽🗽 I miss NYC 😭😭😭
I’m a bit jealous 😂😂😂 I should back there in October this year 😡😡😡 hope next year will be good
Yeah I went there and it was nice. Unfortunately when you take photos of the city, the most famous landmark of the world will not be included. :(
Lol I used to WORK at the Empire State Building and still haven't been up there. I plan to soon though
I get to go for free and bring anyone because someone i know works there. I can go anytime and skip everyone even when there is fireworks and the parades
Hopefully you will enjoy fireworks next year. At most you will see it on tv this year, especially Xmas and NY’s Eve.
Clear night should be able to see Mars Jupiter and Saturn from up there
It’s too expensive for tickets. But maybe soon I’ll visit the top of Empire State Building.
Pretty cool! King Kong approves 😀 Price bit high vs The Rock which under $40 but still worth it!
Yeah it’s the most expensive
@@HereBeBarr Maybe King Kong gets a share 😀
It's amazing!
I wish to live here one day 🤩
I think it cost $5 the only time I was there in 1971, only the 86th floor was open then.
The same, in 1985. Only the top floor was open. It was under 10 dollars.
WOW! insane views ❤
Thanks for the great vid
