Sooooo much good information! Love it my friend, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world! And I've never done the lens cap trick holding all the cards! Stoked on that!
How in the world can you bang out so many of these videos. Seriously, it is very impressive. Hard for us to manage an edit or two a month for our ski travels and here you are able to get out one a day. I bet you have a segment on that.
I think the same but I am starting to believe that whenever you do what you love, you will be even surprised how come you can be finishing everything up just my thought
Wow Peter! Amazing video, surprisingly covered quite a few things I have been curious about!! You have great insight on the videos we would like to see!
I started out making videos not that long ago so I'm short on tricks. I appreciate these so much Pete! They'll help me infinitely. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I'll use the blanket thing later today actually (it might get weird... it might not 😜)
You are such an amazing teacher, learning so so so much from you Peter ! thank you so much for all the knowledge you share and inspire people ! BIG THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One thing that makes your videos stand out is your b-roll. It's simple but effective and makes the video so much more interesting when you're demonstrating what the fridge you're talking about.
Hey peter luv you man!! Just wanted to say that you have helped me with my channel a bunch and have become someone I and im sure to many other people! Thanks man!!!
I am new to cameras and this amazing art of filmmaking and photography. Your videos are amazing, funny, addictive and easy to understand. Thank you sooo much
Hey, Mr.Peter could you do a video on showing us some of the photos that you have taken...please... and by the way, you always give great advice...Thank you
Hey Pete! Just wanted to say thank you for all the videos and tips you put out there. Since discovering your channel this last month, I've literally binge watched all of your videos over the past 2 1/2 weeks. Soo good! Soooo good! Keep up the amazing work! Much love from a fellow Canuck. - Erik
Those aperture lights stay super cool. Got a beast of a heat sink. But he should specify that in case someone throws a random blanket on an old school bulb.
finally someone , most lamps generate good heat depending on the power and the fans most of the time arent great or good repleacable( speaking of old bron lamps) soo be real careful with covering fans
Another cracking video Pete. I would love to see a video about how you prepare for a video and tips on how to come across relaxed and authentic on camera.
1. Duck clamps - to hold back things and mounting gear 2. Soft reusable cable ties - organise things 3. Duct tape - taping cables down - tape gopro to wall & shoe etc 4. Cap case - body cap nestled with a lens cap to keep sd cards and small things safe 5.Grip Head - tons of mounting option to mount boom mic or foam cord etc very handy 6. Accoustic blanket - throw the blanket over a somthing making too much noise or block light out from and exit sign etc 7. Friction arm - clam the friction am anywhere and clamp camera or monitor and configure them like lego just watch the video its short and easy to watch
Peter I just want to say I'm still loving the content and the creative way to produce your footage. But I'm absolutely loving the end scenes you are having at the end of the videos, so funny. I'm just excited through the video to see what funny or buttery shot you're going to put at the end. Thank again Peter.
hey peter ... i m requesting you to do a tutorial of video shoot and then how you post process it ... it will help us alot... and thank you for everything... keep doing this ... we love you ... yayyy ....😊😄🤘
Hey Peter. As an up and coming film maker, you give me inspiration and hope. I mostly just wanted to pop in and say thank you for being someone I can look up to and aspire to be.
these thing are hardly available here in India, so I will definitely gonna find 6 other things other than Lens cap :) Thank you Pete, you're a saviour :)
The leans caps come with the lenses. If you somehow don't have them you should go to your local camera market (In Delhi its in Chandani Chowk but idk where you're from) Cheers!
I am pretty sure you have more then 7. Good Video I have Little Bits Of Grip stuff. The tape I have a lot of and it’s a must to have not only Multiple colors but black is the solid one for taping cords down. I got a few Clamps as well. Some times I have to tape over those. Hope to be able to work with someone like you.
Peter, Have you ever gone out for a shoot, gone home and realised that you have bunch of footage that doesn't connect well together to tell a nice story by the time you sit down editing? Super frustrating, keeps happening to me
How have i only just found this channel? i may not be a Photographer, but as i just started vlogging, the videos on this channel have been really helpful! Thank you Peter!
Excellent video Peter! Thanks man for taking the time to make this. One, I never knew duck clamps were called that (or that they had a hole in them - the smaller ones don't - at least the one I bought down here in Brazil doesn't). Two, the lens cap/camera cap trick is awesome. It cleaned up my desktop from stray SD cards and adapters from cluttering up the place. Take care and God bless.
My friction arm and clamp cam in the mail yesterday! I love that I can mount my camera in tight spots now! Next up on my list is that Grip head. That's a must for a one man band like myself to hold my reflector!
These are a good bit cheaper than the red table ties you used, can be found at most stores that sell tools or camping materials, and have a variety of sizes! They are most commonly referred to as ball bungees/tarp ball bungee cords. 25 for $8 on Amazon! Super cheap at Wal-Mart too if needed same day!
There's this guy i watch on youtube, his name is Peter Mckinnon and he is the most awesome person ive ever seen. Hey peter hope you see the comment it would meen alot i really look up to you ❤️ from Curacao
i carry so much unnecessary stuff to shoots that make me look absolutely ridiculous! this video surely helped me man! thanks alot! gonna go use the link to buy those friction arms and an acoustic blanket
I just stumbled upon your channel today, and I gotta say It's one of the best ones I've stumbled upon in a loooong time. Great stuff my dude. Just binge watched a bunch of your stuff and it is so unbelievably helpful and informative. Many thanks! Cheers, Tarnaseus
hugely helpful shopping list for basic stuff that you might not have that COULD just make your life easier AND your shooting more creative.... coool. thanks man!
As always -Brilliant! I want them all! A hiker tip I now use is to wrap a couple of feet of duct tape around a hiking pole . Thus I am ready to deal with a torn tent, ripped trousers (aka pants) or even falling-to-bits boots or a leaky canoe!
Literally used the cap case trick on a shoot yesterday! My friends camera busted the day before we went so he swapped our SD cards out and that was the only way to keep my card safe! Saved my life, Pete.
Great video! Very helpful ideas for useful things! Could you consider doing a video on traveling with your gear? Cameras, batteries, drone etc. What the airlines require you to do to take those things on a plane..that kind of video? Thank you for what you do for this community!
Peter you have inspired me so much. I had bought a canon t5i before I found your videos. I had gotten a good grasp of manual settings, editing, and just going out to shoot anytime I have the freetime. Working on a website for myself currrently, was even asked to do a wedding just yesterday. close friend so no charge, but this could open a huge door. Figured its time to also upgrade, on a budget should I shoot for an 80D or a 7D. I can't afford to go full frame yet. As much as I'd love too. I gotta worry about my bills first 😂. Also if for some reason you're in the maryland area at anytime. let's do some broll.
As a tiny UA-camr hoping to blow up one day, I must say that you are a must watch for me. I have definitely benefited from your tutorials and suggestions. Thanks.
Great vid, dunno why I want those cable ties so bad. Love to see a vid on how you consolidate all your footage from different cameras/devices in premier pro. Like mixing 4K camera footage from different cameras with 1080P slow mo footage etc.
If I dont want to record with a blanket over my head and I only have one blanket, where's the best place to put it? Behind the mic, on the ceiling, etc.
Sooooo much good information! Love it my friend, thanks for sharing your knowledge with the world! And I've never done the lens cap trick holding all the cards! Stoked on that!
Thanks, bud! Everyone needs to go check out Devin's channel immediately. He is Yoda with a camera.

Yeaah man :D :D
LOL!
This is why you got so popular so fast! Providing everyone with genuine, high quality content that we can take into our own channels. Thank you.
I watched this while under my acoustic blanket. Sounded great. Like Dolby Digital surround sound.
You should make this same series for things you need on the go for travel, vlogs, and easy access!
WAYYY ahead of you! sort of.. lol :)
And photography I think.
YES pls
Jeez, this is super helpful. Others have mentioned it, but the lens cap trick is a total game changer! The audio blanket tent is also pretty nifty.
*puts an acoustic blanket over a humming light*
*Blanket catches fire*
*oh great, extra light*
Thanks for your open heart Peter... You are giving us a lot of great information which I believe will bear a lot of fruits! God bless you my brother!
How in the world can you bang out so many of these videos. Seriously, it is very impressive. Hard for us to manage an edit or two a month for our ski travels and here you are able to get out one a day. I bet you have a segment on that.
Alba Adventures it's a lot harder than it looks I'll tell ya that much!
And the fact you took the time to respond to us! Smokes.. I owe you a beer or two..
I think the same but I am starting to believe that whenever you do what you love, you will be even surprised how come you can be finishing everything up just my thought
Wow Peter! Amazing video, surprisingly covered quite a few things I have been curious about!! You have great insight on the videos we would like to see!
"You can never go wrong with gaff tape..." *goes wrong with gaff tape*
IKR? Bwahhahaha! My thought exactly when I saw this, and that's what makes it so damn funny

Ive been doing the lens cap trick for a while and I use it to hold all my SD cards too hhahhaha CRAZY good tips!! Thanks Peter!
I allways get so excited when u upload! your videos are so fascinating and incredibly use full. Thankyou
I started out making videos not that long ago so I'm short on tricks. I appreciate these so much Pete! They'll help me infinitely. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I'll use the blanket thing later today actually (it might get weird... it might not 😜)

Approximately how many cups of coffee did you have before filming this video?
Haha 1 pot :)
He has a standard chemex, guess it's around 8 pots.
maybe he had... a HOST of cups!
Who knows.....I'd guess it's a 1 gallon pot.
i would not measure that in cups
You are such an amazing teacher, learning so so so much from you Peter !
thank you so much for all the knowledge you share and inspire people !
BIG THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What song were you using in the background for this video, Pete? Great backing track

New film maker, love the way you present fella I’m always excited to learn when your teaching. Thanks
Dude your video quality is ALWAYS on point!!
Very helpful tips. As an experienced amateur photographer moving into videography on a regular basis this was exactly what I needed to know.
That lens cap one was like an epiphany moment!! 😃
Hey Pete! Just wanted to say thank you for all the videos and tips you put out there. Since discovering your channel this last month, I've literally binge watched all of your videos over the past 2 1/2 weeks. Soo good! Soooo good! Keep up the amazing work! Much love from a fellow Canuck. - Erik
Do NOT cover your lamps. You can set everything on fire. The lamp needs to vent off the heat.
Besides that. A lot of great tips.
Those aperture lights stay super cool. Got a beast of a heat sink. But he should specify that in case someone throws a random blanket on an old school bulb.
In between the lamp and the acoustic blanket, put a fire blanket! problem solved 😂
finally someone , most lamps generate good heat depending on the power and the fans most of the time arent great or good repleacable( speaking of old bron lamps) soo be real careful with covering fans
Another cracking video Pete. I would love to see a video about how you prepare for a video and tips on how to come across relaxed and authentic on camera.
your personality makes your videos man
1. Duck clamps - to hold back things and mounting gear

4. Cap case - body cap nestled with a lens cap to keep sd cards and small things safe

6. Accoustic blanket - throw the blanket over a somthing making too much noise or block light out from and exit sign etc
7. Friction arm - clam the friction am anywhere and clamp camera or monitor and configure them like lego
just watch the video its short and easy to watch
Why was Cinderella thrown off the basketball team?
She ran away from the ball.

Peter I just want to say I'm still loving the content and the creative way to produce your footage. But I'm absolutely loving the end scenes you are having at the end of the videos, so funny. I've heard about those blankets! It's so nice to see creative people using creative accessories on set.
Where did you learn all of your photography knowledge? Is it all just from experience?
By far the most informative videos!!!!!! AND you make it everything sound 100% less dull. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
Peter, Have you ever gone out for a shoot, gone home and realised that you have bunch of footage that doesn't connect well together to tell a nice story by the time you sit down editing?
Super frustrating, keeps happening to me
Storyboard
I love you videos, colours and sound. What lens did you use to shoot this video? Is there a reason that you don't use the rule of third in your setup?
where do you shop for clothes? all your stuff looks comfy. all saints?
StrangerSinTV nailed it lol
oh shit for real? HAHAH nice dude.
What brand is the watch?
Gaff Tape and Grip Heads/c stands are HUGE. They help so so much when you are lighting and with everything else

Good tips as always McKinnon. My trusty Multi Tool always came in handy, knife, screwdriver, saw, and bottle opener (beer to end the day) all in one
3:48 - "I know that that's not gonna get lost"
3:57 - Actually it get lost xD
My friction arm and clamp cam in the mail yesterday! I love that I can mount my camera in tight spots now! Next up on my list is that Grip head. That's a must for a one man band like myself to hold my reflector!
Smashing that like button
Cheers! :)
it disappeared
WOAH. I don't know why I reacted so much to this but the fact that lens caps and body caps fit together is soooo satisfying. Great tip!
There's no problem out there you can't solve with gaff tape!
NK CREATIVITY world peace GAFF TAPE
We tapped a gay to a wall with gaff tape
*guy. Not gay
Gaff tape your girl if irritating. 😂

OMG your channel is insanely helpful. I loved all of these tools. Now I have to start collecting them. The acoustic blanket bit was hilarious.
hugely helpful shopping list for basic stuff that you might not have that COULD just make your life easier AND your shooting more creative.... coool. thanks man!
the bit where you were under the acoustic blanket made me lol! good stuff as always Peter! cool magic tricks btw.
Peter I really love your videos. I wanted to thank you for the helpful ideas and tuts. Bless your Soul. Hope all is well.

your vids have always been great but man you are raising the bar to a whole new world recently. keep up the amazing work!
Even the edits in a little showcase like this is very well crafted. I like it!
Gaff tape is literally the first thing I plan for and pack - after my camera and lenses. It's magic!
already seen this... but i'm rewatching because there's so much awesomeness in it!
Peter you have inspired me so much. I had bought a canon t5i before I found your videos. This was SO good. I'm falling in love with you and your videos. Deliver every time. I can see a path to making my comedy videos look goooood!
I loved the little magic tricks here and there.Awesome!
Good things to go with. I need to supplement myself with the stuff mentioned. Thanks for sharing.
If I dont want to record with a blanket over my head and I only have one blanket, where's the best place to put it? Behind the mic, on the ceiling, etc.
I really like the cap idea for microcards and other small crap. I now need a grip head. Don't know what I'll do with it, but I need one. Great vids!
