Yes they did invest in Steiger. That deal was put together in 1971 I believe, and was part of the Steiger-IH partnership that launched with the 4166 which was built and designed by Steiger with an IH engine and transmission (and a few more IH bits). Steiger built their current factory with the influx of IH cash, and opened that in 1976. Ironically, IH sold their Steiger shares to Deutz in the early 1980s, a few years before Tenneco bought Steiger and merged it back with IH. You can find the entire story in the book Red 4WD Tractors.

Great video. Thanks

We looked at a 4386 but went with a John Deere 7520 , it was $10000 cheaper .
Octane Press, Did IH buy into Steiger around 1974? I think it was around 30% of the company. Cool video.

@@LeeKlancher4366, they built frames for all articulated ih tractors, it was a service agreement, not ownership.
The V800 could not be lugged .it would squash the rods and mains
Wait a minute. Was this staged or real?
Poor engine needs a repower
These tractors were the biggest money pits you will ever see. IH Intentional Hazard.
