      I recall watching the F-111 and MIrage at a Richmond Air Show back in the late 80s. Hornets were just arriving and were the new toy on the block. Good times.

      @@MondoRockable We may have been at the same air show. I remember they had a Hornet and Mirage in a turning competition to highlight the differences in turn performance, which were substantial.

    Pakistan is the king of mirage repairs and maintenance, i saw another youtube video which showed the extent, lots of new parts being made. Well done.

      Yep, Pakistan got all those in 90's and rebuild them in Mirages rebuild factory in PAC Kamra.

      I saw the hours of each plane. I could be wrong about 5000 hours on each one. That is just ridiculously low.

    hey rodent ? kirgs here i was very proud to have flown the French lady !! most beautiful aircraft of its time !!!! lol think alot of the kids nowdays on technology where as we back then relied on our own tuition & instinct !!! lol that made us superior !!! i hated the F18 Hornet had no guts ! we do mach 2 in level which was faster than a hornet !!! lol 2.14 to be precise !! mine ??? A3-17

    These was sold in the early 90's for $50 millions dollars to Pakistan. Recently they was used to teach the Indians a lesson in 2019 after their botched an airstrike before their general elections

    The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bought them and (as of 2021) is still flying them even as the RAAF replaced the last F/A-18A/B (HUG) with the F-35A.

    Put some extra fuel tanks and another tank to store luggage and you got yourself a pretty quick way to travel, as long as you don't need to take a dump along the way. Sweet ride, in any case.

    In the 80's I went to a school positioned at the end of the Darwin airport runway. Before the RAAF had other runways at their disposal across the Topend. We were so lucky to see many of the old school RAAF aircraft fly only 100 meters above us. F1-11's, , Caribou, C-130, brand new FA-18 Hornets, visiting US aircraft like the Phantoms, F-14's and the behemoth that is the B-52. And of course our own Mirages. The Mirage would scream over Darwin. As a kid I thought they were the closest thing to what i see as a paper plane. A triangle but with a bucket full of horse power.. Wish I had a spare 3 mill.

    I spent a bit of time at Woomera when the Mirages were being collected and "stored" prior to sale. One of a few RAAF Edinburgh based Air Traffic Controllers looking after the airfield at the time. Remember the last flight of the last Mirage there as well. Great to see a light hearted view of the time there. Thanks for posting.

      Museums got a few as well, and some were scrapped. There were plans to fly one privately in Australia some years ago but unfortunately that never happened.

    These Mirages were involved in Operation Swift Retort 2019 where the Indian Army Chief was targeted, forewarned and allowed to escape. Such fun. Pakistan zindabad!
