Thank you for this video, complete newbies to the sport and this saved us a trip to our local garage to adjust the clutch. Simple instructions and great video :)

Hey I have some questions on my sons ktm 50 mini... your videos are the closest to explain what it could be I have found. Tryingbto figure out hoe to check the timing on it.
Great Video. The upper one does not go very far after the last click anti clock wise so i dont know if the first click really is a first click. Its just a few mm and feels more like a snap, not like a click. Can you help? Is there a "zero" setting?
Sorry for the confusion but when you go all the way counter (anti) clockwise is that setting 1? which means if I turn clock wise from there its 2? or 1? just trying to clear up some confusion also what stand is that?
When I first start my 2o2o 50 sr the clutch doesn’t wanna engage at first. And when the bike is off and I’m pushing it it feels like it’s in gear. Once it’s warm it’s fine. I don’t know much about these, any suggestions?
How can you adjust the floating valve on the carburetor for the sx 50 junior 2018 model? I have always gas on the engine so i guess the floating valve don't work vell Thanks in advance
Hi thanks Richo. I sure have but unfortunately haven't got a video on it. That was on a 2014 mini, I feel the newer models are a bit more robust. Cases don't have to be split, but it can be a bit of a fiddly job physically getting the spring back in.
Hey Sinade I plan to in the future yes. It can be a bit tricky both removing the basket and dismantling the clutch pack. You will need a T45 Torx Bit and a set of Allen key sockets. In the meantime there is a great video on dismantling by Judd Racing if you search for it
Hi thanks for your video ..! Anyway is it normal that the bike goes strange when you goes full throttle… when you set the clutch at 3 clicks … thanks for answering
Hello James, great videos! I have a problem with this bike: As soon as I set the clutch above 1 or 2 clicks, the bike has big holes at 1 / 8-1 / 4 throttle, at full throttle it works perfectly. I disassembled the clutch and measure all the dimensions it's ok. regardless of the setting of the richness screw or of the needle always the same problem. stator-cdi-coil-spark plug are ok. I ordered a new piston because this one has 30h but in the meantime do you have an idea? thanks in advance (Sorry for the google French-English translation I hope it's understandable :))
HI Vale, 14 clicks may be a bit aggressive, depending on the riders skill level. Stock setting is 9, slowly move up from there. If the rider is happy on 14, nothing wrong with that
so i bought my son a 2019 ktm 50 mini, its a little small for him but i dont feel like spending another 3k on a bike. Does anyone know if you can put a ktm sr wheel on a ktm mini?
James thanks for the video. Question. With the reduction on the clutch will the bike still reach full power if the kids keeps his/her hand on the throttle. Thank Les for the video.
Hi James, my son just received from Santa a 2022 50 mini, but when he accelerates it’s making hell of a noise and need quite a deep acceleration before the bike moves, will 3 clicks move the bike with a little acceleration or should I set up factory 9 clicks? So far he is no enjoying much, the noise is scaring him too much. Thanks a lot man your videos are great.
Hey there, absolutley wind the clutch back and see how he finds it. I'm assuming the noise is engine noise? If that's the case completely normal, if the clutch is set high will take alot of revs to kick in
Nice video! When I do this on my TC 50 2017 I can feel and hear a small play when I jiggle the clutch basket, is that normal or is there a bearing problem? Thanks in advance!
Excellent video! Thanks a lot. Once we adjust counterclockwise until they stop, how many clicks do you recommend so that the bike is not so aggressive? For a 5-year-old kid
Hello, greetings from Nayarit Mexico, sorry, can you help me, my son's 2013 KTM50 runs a little slowly during his training and gets very hot, it leaks antifreeze through the radiator cap, once it's rolling hard, it doesn't, but it stops for a while. little and that happens, it could be a problem 😵💫
The manual calls for 200ml of Motorex ATF DXIII as seen here www.motorex.com/en-us/moto-line/gear-oil/atf-dexron-iii/ I will be posting a new tutorial on how to change the transmission/clutch oil in the coming weeks
James - thanks for the video - I adjusted my sons clutch today - when I backed all the bolts out counterclockwise, one of them felt like they had a longer turn back to click one. Did you experience a similar situation or did all 3 go to that first click evenly?
Hey Tyler mine all seem to move the same amount. In saying that your issue sounds minor, as long as it is clicking. How much more of a turn do you think your getting?
@@jameswharton3143 about a half a turn - i did it again and i think they are all in sync now. nothing i can do about the difference. Do you have a video on the idle and air screw adjustment? after adjusting the clutch i started bike cold and it sounded like it was engaging hard and idling too fast and i messed with idle screw and now its messed up - bogs real hard when you slam on gas
I have 2 of my bolts that click when I turn them but one does not click at all. I can kind of feel a detent when I turn it but very faint. How can I get this one bolt back to clicking??
Hi Rob, if you wind those bolts all the way counterclockwise do they eventually stop? If so you could try just setting them as normal and counting the indents as you would a click.
Thanks man. My lad has a 2014 KTM SX50 mini. And I'll be checking out the clutch for sure. ITs taking about 30mtrs, before band kicks in. His not keeping up with the 250s of the mark, haha. Dam quick bikes. Anyway, I now have to drill at retap the bolt that holds the fuel tank on. 😩 💪

I'm wondering the same thing. Can anyone clear that up?
What causes these bikes to die on the rear brake or bike on the ground? Clutch stuck engaged?
Hey Tervor there will always be some drag with the clutch meaning revs will drop. Try slightly turning your idle up
i have similar problem. did you sort yours out?
I striped out my bolts and can’t see them on the Schematic. Are those adjustment bolt on the pressure plate or the ball plate.

Can you do a video on doing a new /replacement clutch.

nice information, can you make a video how to adjust Fork or Shock KTM or HQ 50?
Hi,i need a clutch kit but more racing,where i can Buy,can You help me😁
Does this make the bike slower or just make the power kick in gradually please tell me as fast as possible
Just makes the power kick in more gradually. Full speed the same
What is the range of settings? What would an advanced rider use?
1 to 17, 17 being the most aggressive. Really depends on the rider but I think about 12 or 13 is good for the advanced kids
