What a lot of tourists do not understand is that these people are not actors or performers, they are real soldiers on duty. This is one of their deployments, but they have usually served elsewhere in the army. This job is hard and thankless, they have to wear a very heavy full dress uniform in any weather and mostly guard against tourists who behave like children and treat them like objects.
There have been a couple people yelled at in the US by the soldiers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in DC. Talking loudly, laughing, no sense at all of what they’re looking at or where they’re standing. Seem to think they're at a shopping mall or something.
They’re stupid because they think the soldiers are tourist attractions, these are real soldiers with real weapons that will hurt you if you come anywhere near the Queen and her property.
As someone who works in that area and see tourists mess with these guards all the time, don't do it. The golden rule is look but do not touch, these are active serving service personal and would not think twice of letting the horse stamp all over you. I once witnessed the horse bite pickup and throw a small woman at that exact spot. Also if you do disrespect a guard, expect a good shoeing from a Londoner. We are very proud of them. ~Trooper
Good for that horse! You never, ever, ever interfere with a working animal. I hate to think about all the flap that no doubt resulted, though. Though I'd love to hear that the woman had been slapped with a large fine.

Beautiful, beautiful animal!! Quite why someone would grab at a military horse's bridle is beyond me. Well done to that guard for doing her job and keeping the horse calm and to the police officer who checked all was ok. I bet the guards hate doing this duty!!
My understanding is that these guards are combat trained and serving military. The behavior of people is a display of their ignorance and a sign I would like to pin on their back, "Too stupid to live".

So difficult for the horse and rider to stay calm and collected with the swarms of people wanting their pictures taken with them. Why a person would grab at the reins is astounding…..what did she think she was going to accomplish by doing so? I’ve bred and raised horses all of my life and I still ask the rider if I may approach them, it’s common courtesy and a safety precaution. I felt it was very well handled for all concerned.
The rider did the right thing! The horse is his responsibility, not her's! But I think she grabbed the reins for having control. The horse moved his head quite much so probably she was insecure.
I started riding hoses when I was six years old, and one of the first things I was taught was to always ask, rider may I approach, never run up to the horse, walk then let the horse smell you before you pet it, and NEVER try and feed the horse anything unless you ask first.
@@colaislife not her job to control the horse , that's the Guards responsibility. It was another example of Me Me Me ... must have been a Yank . Lol I can say that becouse I'm a yank also
She looked over at someone in the crowd before she grabbed the reins. My guess is that she was trying to move the horse's head at a better angle for a photo. People like that seem to think that the world exists as a backdrop for their souvenir pictures.
In New Orleans there was a police officer on his horse. Some guy slapped the horse on his rump. I had the great pleasure of seeing a horse spin around and expertly pin the man up against a brick wall where he was promptly arrested for assaulting a police officer! It was awesome to watch.
When I was 5, I got away from my parents and hid behind one of the guards, the ones with the big fur hats who are not suppose to move. So they were running around in panic looking for me, with no idea where I was. Finally after some time the soldier said quietly "hey" to my dad and motioned with his eye to look behind him. My dad profusely apologized to the soldier who had returned to be stoic.
That horse is a character.. he inspected every person that came up to him that was so neat some of them he even nosed at.. his blinders were totally in the way but he was still trying his best to get as good of the look as he could and everybody.. great horse !!!... People couldn't just get in there and keep a few feet away you know and take a good picture they had to get right up in there... That lady grabbing hold of the reins had no regard as to how her actions would affect the horse and everyone else... Not just your ordinary horse... Of course no horse is just ordinary... Pay attention people my goodness...lol🙂💜✌🏻
That horse seems to know what a camera is and was posing. The horse likes people , and probably one of the more experienced horses there. Beautiful horse.
Physical barriers are ruining experiences - the guard handled it perfectly and so did the horse. The problem in the world today is there is too much protection. People need to learn boundaries exist even when there are no posts and that doesn't happen unless dumbass people like this learn the hard way.
The idiots are everywhere, and I’m ashamed that a great deal of them seem to be fellow Americans. Condolences to the citizens of Th United Kingdom on the death of Her Majesty, The Queen.
How jolly good that would be. A bloody good show! 😂 No more dumb insensitive tourists and the King’s Guards won’t have to deal with their stupid antics anymore. Someone should drop a note in King Charles’ suggestion box, hopefully he’ll read it and immediately order all the palace gates be electrified. I’d pay to see that! 😅
To me, if they want a photo shoot booth, they should invent one. A person on duty, doing a job, is being constantly blocked and insulted by interference.
They are for photographs for tourists. You just aren't supposed to touch the leads or it will lead the horse out of their respective positions, only the guard's can control them.
@Real Aiglon no it is not! There duty was to protect the Queen and now the King, horse and guard are there doing an important job! So their duty is not to be a photo prop! 🙄🙄
I've been watching these clips for a while now and I find it reprehensible that the public gets away with all the disrespect for the guard and horse. When is the royal family going to do something about this. After all, the horse and guard are protecting them!!!
I remember being on a tour of the Tower of London a few years ago. Our Guide was one of the Beef Eater guards. A teenage boy on the tour made the mistake of jokingly touching the uniform of the Beef Eater tour guide who absolutely yelled at him accusing him of assault on an officer of the Queen. The poor kid was visibly shaken and learnt a tough lesson. Hands off!!

Yes, because in today's world it seems most appear to think that they are no different to the actors playing roles in Disneyworld/EuroDisney. And not just the British military, the Norwegian Military in dress uniform come in for a lot of comments comparing them to Disney/Hollywood guards in fairytales (recent visit for the tattoo when they visited their commander in Edinburgh Zoo - several offensive comments about him as well).
The horse and guard are there for their amusement, they're a tourist attraction. The police do the actual guarding and respond to threats, all of these areas are swarming with heavily armed police. Having said that the guards should be treated with complete respect, and the horses even more so. They add a very rich layer of history for visitors, but they are doing a job and should be admired from a suitable distance, something that seems to be too difficult for the selfie generation.
@NattieChristopher such a shame. I was thinking about that horse just standing there on one spot. It didn’t seem right. I hadn’t thought about the bridle. Certainly their could switch out horses every helad hour to hour. So their stalls are small and they don’t get room to walk or run?
@@reflectionsinthebible3579 They do get switched out every hour, they do NOT spend all their lives in a tiny stall, they certainly turn out far more than a couple of times a year, and they spend their holidays up on the beaches in Norfolk every year. A bit being used by uneducated hand can cause pain, in educated hands a bit is barely noticeable to the horse. In any hands a bitless bridle will impede the horses airways. So life long education of rider’s including constant refreshers on the fundamentals is what animal lovers should be advocating.
I am an equestrian and former trainer. There should be a soldier standing beside the horse out there ordering people around and keeping the peace! The horse is very irritated! You can see the anxiety from all that chomping on the bit!

I once spoke to a trooper in the Household Cavalry. He told me that women would put their phone numbers down your boot. The problem was trying to remember who were the good looking ones. That tall lass with the back pack would get it for sure.
Exactly! But it's a female on the horse. She just has to use a lower voice to exert authority. USAF Veteran here and was expected, trained to use the same tone when calling cadence, marching a squadron of 5 flights. Still use it when having to, just a few times, needed to yell "Back off!". I was in danger from a stranger in public. Make a scene Claire. It will keep you safe. God bless.
I say this all the time….Didn’t anyone ever teach these people to look and not touch? I work in retail management and people think absolutely nothing of coming in and destroying beautiful elaborate displays that take many hours to create, moving merchandise around, touching everything, and pretty much turning the stores upside down leaving others to come behind them and clean up the terrible mess’s they’ve made. Ignorant and entitled doesn’t even begin to describe the general public nowadays! It’s truly disgusting!
My father took me on a visit when I was young, and the wife had a collection of cut glass animals. The wife asked if I would touch them, and my father said, "no she never grabs nick knacks." I immediately rushed over and began grabbing them. I'm sure I usually didn't touch, but perhaps those where too lovely to not want to hold. 🤗 I did manage to embarrass my father, who recounted the tale every time we were near the house, even into my late fifties. 😁
The Horse may bite, but the bark from the King's Guard is terrifying. Do we need a couple of yellow dots or feet either side saying 'Stand here Dipstick!"
As a rider what that ignorant woman did was incredibly dangerous, firstly she stands in the way of other tourists who wants a picture because obviously she feels entitled to have her picture taken before anyone else who is waiting for a turn, but the danger of grabbing the the face strap of a horse which is obviously not at a petting zoo who is at least 2000 pounds is unbelievable. I don’t care how well a horse is trained, they can and will spook at anything, she put not only herself, the rider, everyone around in danger, but in my opinion as a horse lover the horse itself in the most danger,I think those horses having to stand on concrete or rock surface is cruel anyway, horses hooves are not made to just stand on concrete continuously with who knows how many people continuously pawing at their muzzle or ears or necks etc.
All I can add is the act of grabbing the reins could be seen as an attack on the horse and rider. There's a large notice on the wall informing people that horses may kick and bite.
Nothing about these horses with bits of metal in their mouth, ( and yes, one can see horse is clearly not only irritated but uncomfortable too…watch it’s mouth) shoed on concrete and standing still for a length of time is right…they’re just props for the ceremonial nonsense that brings in tourist revenue ….whose knowledge of horses one could write on a stamp with room to spare. There’s always one who goes to the top of the thinking impaired though…full in horse’s space, grabbing the reigns …I wish it had thrown its head weight against hers in full blown panic mode , despite the rider enforcing maximum painful control of its head.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't think that is a good idea letting the public so close. I couldn't tell that is a female soldier. Looks very young
Great respect for the guard and her horse, who both behave with selfless honour and dignity there. 🐴🐎💂👏 An absolute credit to the armed forces and our country.
@Real Aiglon no, it is not a tourist attraction - it is an aspect of the military of this country, with a role and tradition that goes back a very long time indeed, long before tourism became an industry. The fact that tourists are able to do what they do (in terms of getting close, taking photos) is merely fortunate for them, not deliberate on the part of the authorities.
@Real Aiglon You are either thick or stupid, which one. It's not in their job description or their horses to put up with stupid and ignorant tourists. There should be something there to stop tourists getting near them, they are there to do a job and it's not to entertain people.
Now she is on you tube. The soldier and horse are there for a purpose to guard the palace, not a photo op for ignorant people and screaming kids. Show some respect to these men and women that have protected the queen and now the king.
And often fought in Afghanistan and Iraq (most recently). They are often regarded as only there for show, actors acting a part, and very few bother to look and check exactly who/what they are when they AREN'T doing public guard duty. So ignorant - and not just of the guards in London, I've seen similar comments about both the Swiss Guard in the Vatican and the Norwegian servicemen (when they were recently in Edinburgh for the tattoo and were videoed at Edinburgh Zoo presenting an award to their superior officer, which really garnered some very offensive comments from the totally ignorant and disrespectful). They seem to think that because they have a long tradition and wear dress uniforms that reflect that tradition they are no different to Hollywood/Disney actors playing a part at Disneyland or Universal Studios. Utterly pathetic and seems to be something that is becoming more and more common, certainly when I was a kid (and I grew up in NZ) we knew that all the the guards - no matter how fancy their dress uniforms - were serving officers in their respective countries militaries.
That horse is a working animal. It is a security guard. Would she stroke a big burly man's cheek, when on duty, or would THAT image spell out more clearly where the line is drawn. Some tourists seem to treat "The Monarchy" as Disneyland. It is Centuries of Tradition, which you disrespect by debasing it to Mickey Mouse.
I suppose putting a hand on the horse's reins is like trying to put a hand on the soldier's gun, or some other extension of his/her equipment. Looks like people are permitted to stand close by for photos which is fair enough. But who thinks it's okay to take a high-pitched squealing child and put her face next to a horse, with a sign 'watch out for biting and kicking' right next to that? D'oh!
Of course people will want to take a picture of themselves with them and they understand that but you should also remember to keep and good distance for them and give them the respect they are duty.
Putting yourself in the picture shows a lived experience. That's like saying, "I went to Disneyland but you can't see me in any pictures because why would I put myself in them - it's about Disneyland." The woman who took a million pictures with her selfie-stick definitely overdid it. Many people got their pictures on the other side of the horse before she finally went away.
@@mortimerbrewster3671 Just the fact you were able to take the pictures is proof of the experience. If I take a picture of a building, site, or event, it's because I want a reminder of the building, site, event. I don't need a picture of "me." And if I show the pictures to anyone else its to show them a picture of the building, site, or event, not a picture of me. Imagine looking in a magazine or book and the photographer used a selfie stick so they were in every picture.
@@daniel_sc1024 Pictures in books and magazines taken by professional photographers aren't taking them for their vacation memories. They are a purpose that they are getting paid for. I look at pictures of my grandparents (who are all dead) on their trips and value them because I get to see them in their lives and experiences. These pictures are not just for you but even if they were you will look back at them 10, 20, 30 years down the road, remember the day and maybe even laugh that you wore that awful outfit or wore your hair that way. It's for your FUTURE memories, not now.
@@mortimerbrewster3671 It all boils down to what the focus of the picture is. If I want to remember a cathedral I visited, I want pictures of the cathedral. I don't need to see myself to remember the trip to the cathedral. Just imagine how hard it is for those horses to stand still for hours this is not in the nature of a horse. And then for total strangers to pull your reins. Those horse guards are extremely well trained top military members. They don't like it when you touch or come to close to their horses.
The horse is extensively trained too!! The horses are more than capable to do their duties. There is a time change, so they don't do it for hours on end with no relief.
I am not unaware of how much training goes into these horses. The horses are five year Olds bought in Ireland by a special purchase commission they are always black and a lot of attention is paid to their temperment. 25 new horses are bought every year to replace the horses who are retired at around 17 years old. The riding staff assume that the horses have not previously been saddled, and take them back to basics: being walked in-hand and growing accustomed to the voice, lunged and then saddled. The horses are young and some completely unbalanced and seem to be “running to stay upright”. A horse called Sultan threw his rider five times in as many minutes. The process is a painstaking one and some of The Queen’s horses need longer than others to train and eventually pass out in the full dress saddlery. From purchase to first parade normally takes eight months. The training of the men of the horse guards is also extremely intense since they are a deployable part of the Blues and Royals. They go through the 12 weeks of basic military training after which they attend 6 weeks specialist Royal Armoured Corps training as either an AFV (Armoured Fighting Vehicles) Driver or a Gunner. They then start there training for the horse guards at Windsor to complete a further 16 weeks in Riding School. Here you will have your own horse which you must feed and look after at all times, to help you understand the animal and build up a working relationship.By now you will have learned to think for yourself. On a horse you need to think for two, which requires patience and practice.A final four weeks are spent riding in ceremonial uniform before your Passing Out Parade in front of the Commanding Officer, as one of the most highly trained soldiers in the Army. I have been around horses as a rider later a trainer of horses since I was 4. I know that the horses work on a 2 hour on and 4 hour off schedule. But still this is an amazing thing for a horse to stand for 2 hours
Beautiful horse. I see he’s hoping for snacks from the onlookers. I don’t know why ppl have to annoy the guards & interfere like it’s their right to do so. They show absolutely no respect.

Sorry but that woman had no right to grab the bridle like that especially when she could clearly see that the queen's guard is on the horse also it is highly disrespectful to do something like to Royal guard and horse on duty and that woman should have known better and if the horse was in any kind of trouble the guard would have taken care of that it's not up to the people in the public
Sorry but You should never ever touch any of the royal guard's. so the guards reaction to the women is normal telling people to get off does not work on it own with some people or a lot. I am from the uk.

Some tourists seem to treat "The Monarchy" as Disneyland. It is Centuries of Tradition, which you disrespect by debasing it to Mickey Mouse.
Pretty much my response. Just imagine her trying that with a K9 detail. Pure entitlement.
Give me a break. The monarchy has no more importance than an insect crawling on the ground. They are Disneyland. It's all a show. Wake up.
For us. Brazilians, the English monarchy is nothing more than a samba school parade. The guard was stupid, rude.
The woman posing with her selfie stick is so funny. Lovely smile and then she spots someone in her view, then the face changes somewhat.
D'oh!
Haha. Good on this guard for protecting her horse from the entitled, not so bright tourist.
I can understand wanting to get a picture of the horse and trooper, but I don't understand the need to get a picture of yourself with them.
It would be different if a particular event in my life was the focus:
"Here's Daniel scaling the fence of Buckingham Palace" or "Here's Daniel getting mauled by a bear."
Unlike 99.9% of the world I don't feel the need to validate my existence by taking selfies or even being in most or any of my own photos.
Well done the female horse guard.xx
Brilliant control of a difficult situation. That's why the British army is the best in the world.
How do you know it's a female
@@TrailBoss1860 her voice so makes it obvious

@@jy8010 Oh yes there are, in all the guards’ regiments. Quite a good number as well.
What a great horse, So stoic and proud. I can't imagine grabbing onto the reins or bridle of another person's horse. Loved the guardsman reaction. Im sure he hates having to sit there while people get in his space with their cameras. So disrespectful to the rider and the horse.
That he is a she!
Well done to the guardsmen made me jump
Just the rider is a female
She is a Trooper
@@teresafell2514 Why did you feel the need to mention it was a female?
It doesn't matter she is doing a great job she must be very proud 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@Dante-vf4sd how do you know in this day and age?!? Might be a dude with a vagina or a chick with a dick or it might even legally identify as a papaya lol
Please please please let the guards use that sword on the occasional tourist. Great entertainment value.
I would be angry too if some random person started grabbing the reins on my horse. If someone grabbed the reins of a horse you don’t know or even horses you do know you don’t always know how the horse will react. It’s also just disrespectful. You don’t pet or feed unless given permission. The horse may bite you. Horses can have allergies just like people.
People never seem to understand that this is a soldier and his mount on duty. One should NEVER interfere with rider and horse in this situation!
He’s a beautiful and well trained horse.🥰
Obviously they're ok w ppl taking pics w the horse. If not, there would be someone there keeping them away. Im sure it happens EVERY time the horse comes out. It's not a new thing. And its very easy to prevent. Don't be so sanctimonious.
@@trawlins396 hardly sanctimonious, just stating a fact, pictures are one thing but grabbing the reins is an absolute no no. Did you happen to notice the sign reminding ppl that horses will kick or bite, have you ever seen that happen, because I have.
Obviously these magnificent horses are well trained.
@@joaniegoodrow548 grabbing the reins is a lot different than just standing there and getting a pic. She was the only one who did something wrong. If they wanted to stop tourists from taking pics, they'd stop it! They understand how important the tourist economy is. Everything about the Monarchy, the Palaces , etc are a HUGE draw for tourism. That's the reality.

I was impressed that the police officer went over to the queen's guard to check everything was ok
Do not ever touch or grip the reins, bridle or any other part of the tack on any horse. Well done, rider.
That solider must have patience of a saint!
Just imagine how hard it is for those horses to stand still for hours this is not in the nature of a horse.
And then for total strangers to pull your reins.
Those horse guards are extremely well trained top military members.
They don't like it when you touch or come to close to their horses.
Those horses are extensively trained also .
The horse is extensively trained too!! The horses are more than capable to do their duties. There is a time change, so they don't do it for hours on end with no relief.
@@kells1784 do you have any idea how much training goes into Horses Before they are even allowed in public ?
@@pat36a yes I'm aware!
Sign says (beware horses may kick or bite ) ….. stands next to horses face for picture 😂
Beautiful horse. I see he’s hoping for snacks from the onlookers. I don’t know why ppl have to annoy the guards & interfere like it’s their right to do so. They show absolutely no respect.
How would these people feel if a complete stranger came into their office or factory and started interfering with their job.
Well done Trooper! 🇬🇧
The horse is so gentle. That must be very difficult for the horse to stand there for long periods of time with a lot of people around him.😊
I love how all these ppl all have scowls on there faces in front of each other but once its selfie time in front of horse its SMILE!
It’s a ROYAL GUARD! And they have a serious job and she is a very good horsewoman . You tourist’s have no idea of the discipline she has undergone to achieve his status. Well done!
Are they not a woman?
Whilst it's stupid to grab the reins, what exactly is her "serious job"? Sitting on a horse in an archway pretending to be guarding someone?
@@rogueuniversities6866 Fooling the LOW IQ zombies
How do you know "she is a very good horsewoman"? She sits there like a sack of potatoes.
The horse has such dignity, such a beautiful animal
Don't blame her. She's controlling a powerful animal in a difficult situation for the horse. You have to take control and be in control at all times.
Please nobody is blaming her, it,s quite clearly the idiot visitor. How dumb can you get. Same with the dad holding the screaming kid up!! 🤨
Sorry but You should never ever touch any of the royal guard's. so the guards reaction to the women is normal telling people to get off does not work on it own with some people or a lot. I am from the uk.
What blame? She was doing a great job with her horse and the horse was outstanding, too!
@@bobbieellcey I'm starting to think - having watched a number of videos of different guards in different places around London all being treated as though they are make believe - that they should be training the horses to bite - HARD - anyone who approaches within reach of those teeth.
I was there, yesterday.
Perhaps it's time for the mounted guard to stand behind closed gates, at peak periods (10am-2pm), the crowds are too large and too close; the sentries at St. James' Palace, Clarence House and BP are all behind gates, for their security, these days.
