REVIEW UPDATE: So I'm not sure what was wrong during the video shoot (may be low battery), but I connected the keyboard using a cable and the RGB lights seems brighter, both wired and wireless! however they are still not as bright as the Hexgear X1 keyboard. one of the things I really like about this keyboard is that when you press a key the light dims as you press down, only on the last mode, where the lights are all on.
Got my K8 with brown swappable optical switches and I'm loving it. Basically any other keyboards are dead to me, gaming brands included!
I hear you man! I have several Keychrons and they are great... they can even be better with some subtle modification such as lubing and damping.
I just got another Keychron keyboard (K3) which was a Kickstarter project for an ultra slim mechanical keyboard. I’ll be doing the review in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned
Niceee
Great video! Recently been getting into keyboards. My friend let me use his red switch keyboard and it felt so good. I'm sure brown is good too.
Thanks for the review, it was much needed!
Going to buy this soon!
You got it man! Glad it helped!
Just bought it. Will be arriving in 2 days!
I own this keyboard and I didnt even know you could change the brightness. I almost never even look at my keyboard. rgb keyboards are silly. But oh man does this keyboard feel like a dream, I love it so much.
I should buy for MacBook?
Great review video! I’m one of the ealiest backer of Keychron K8 in Kickstarter. I love the monster battery of this keyboard! Greatest hand-carry TKL key pad ever!
That’s awesome. Which switches did you get?
Great video, I just use my laptop keyboard, however, working from home since this virus 🦠 fiasco made me rethink my gear. I may pick this up, thanks!
Hey did you pick it up? I'm in the same spot
Im going to have this next week! Great review sir! How long is the cable USB cable? :) Thank you!
Thank you 🙏🏼 the cable is pretty long. It’s about 4 feet or little over 1 meter
Thank you for this video. You helped make my decision easy. Great info and production quality. The audio is also very clean. Cheers!
I just got this!! Exact model with red switches. Kenya’s with aluminum frame and rgb backlit display. So Cool!! I got this for my iPad mini 5th generation
great vid man. underrated youtuber.. liked and subbed :)
also can you tell me how are you using your rode mic like that. i wanted to start streaming and i have a rode mic so i want to know how re you using that and what all products are you using for that mic
Appreciate it man
This is the Rode NTG5 and I have it connected to a Zoom F6. This recorder is purely magical and incredible... I don’t know much about audio but little research I did, this is the best recorder you can get at this price.
@@EnforcerMan ayy thanks man...
Just ordered one, mainly for my ipad but not only that. Can't wait.
Congrats mate. Let me know how you like when you get it… by the way which switches did you order?
@@EnforcerMan thanks! You’ll be happy to know that it was your excellent review that made me make up my mind. I played it safe and relatively cheap so I went for the brown non swappable switches, and of course the aluminium case.
I got this same builf but not the optical version as my 1st board. I am in love!!!
Damn the quality of this is amazing
Appreciate it mate.
@@EnforcerMan no problem
Just got one with the same specs. Good review
That’s awesome! I also ordered their new low profile from kickstart and I’ll drop a video as soon as I get it 😎
If I were to purchase either the Keychron optical browns or Gateron mechanical browns, which would you recommend, the optical or non-optical? Would you say the optical is better due to speed/durability? Are there any other differences? Thanks!
Did you find answers for your question?
@@KM-bj7ts I would recommend Gaterons, more popular manufacturer and compatible with other switches if you want to hot swap.
i have the keychron k8 wirless mechanical keyboard, and for some reason, if I press certain keys on the keyboard random letters pop up as well, for an example, for I press the letter A, it doesnt just type the letter A, it types ag or agga for no reason, please help me!!
Your board may be defective. Reach out to their support for guidance
I just pulled the trigger on this, I'll let you know how I like in a week or two.
Awesome! Let me know how you like it
how is the keyboard?
@@booker9970 Thank you for asking, remind me to get back to you. I have big hands so the chunky size works for me, the key press is really smooth, compared to the G.SKILL KM360, not that the G.SKILL KM360 isn't, it's different, but the same layout. The blue tooth doesn't stay connected even after I press fn + S + O for 4 seconds, & after a while it wont stay paired. I'm going to try it on a laptop that has built in blue tooth, the one I have in my rig is new but that might be the problem . I'll get back to you on that.
@@Dillinger86 2 months later, how is it?

I can’t spell “swappable” 🤦🏻😂
I’m thinking of getting this, looks sick and its on Catch (I’m in au so mechanical keyboards like this are expensive) and its only $119 aud (around $130-$145 usd)
It looks and feels great man! Good luck
What is the difference between gateron and optical switch? Which one would you recommend
This is the official response from Keychron (personally I prefer optical switches): keychronsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360044086974-What-is-the-difference-between-Optical-switches-and-Gateron-switches-
EnforcerMan why you prefer optical?
Kanknw it can be psychological, but in theory they are more reliable and faster because of the mechanics of it.
What does the key next the Siri/Cotrona do? The one that looks like a box
Hey guys! What is the difference of color switches between brown, red, blue?
Brown: is clicky and tactile with no sound
Blue: is clicky and tactile with sound
Red: is linear and not clicky and doesn't have a sound
which is better in your opinion the plastic one or the aluminum?
If you’re referencing the main frame I would definitely say aluminum
I am going to buy thissss
Link to the Hexgear X1? that one looks good...
6:53 how do you compare backlight with setting 2 different modes on the keyboard. Man that was a bad comparison...
Thanks for the feedback
I can’t seem to find any information on what the OS switch really does (other than the obvious) technically. Reason I’m curious is that I will be running mine through a monitor based USB KVM which lets me switch between my work Mac and gaming PC.
I currently do this with a Logitech Craft and don’t notice any issues with respect to Windows key vs Option or Command keys nor with the function keys.
Anyone doing similar with a Keychron?
I think it changes the Function keys to be independant rather than through the FN+Fkey you just press Fkey
Maybe try pudding caps for a brighter experience
TYSM
I've never been able to get the RGB to work on the keyboard lol
@7mins - Turn the keyboard around next time to show the viewer what it looks like from their angle, not yours!
Thanks for the feedback! Makes sense! Appreciate watching
Yay for Apple's auto-correct. During the iPhone typing, instead of hot-swappable, it reads "hot seatable"
😂😂😂
Kemove snowfox or this?
I haven’t tried that so honestly I can’t tell
man that side mounted usb is such a deal breaker
is there a numpad function
nope this is a TenKeyLess keyboard, or TKL
👍🏼
need to fix the camera angle!
You’re correct. This is one of my older videos. I think it’s a little better now 😎 thanks for the feedback mate 💪🏼👍🏼👊🏼
What is battery life like?
So if you go full RGB it’s about 72 hrs so if you use it let’s say about 5 hrs per day that’s about 2 weeks. The battery size is 4000mAh.
Oh anzguys video
Keyboard is dim to save on battery…if you plug it in, then it’s bright. But that defeats the purpose of having a wireless keyboard
