    Thank you for making this video! My 66 Charger rear windows never would go down since we've owned it 1981! I'm excited to tear it apart and making them work again!

    Paul, I have watched your video at least 10 or 15 times. I have taken notes. Today I took the time and laid out all my parts for the driver side quarter window and I went through your video explaining how everything gets connected. I then was 24:04 window. Two hours later I'm still struggling to get the clip on with the C clamp while doing so the first roller that you have put in with the vertical rear breeze came out. I have put that in a couple times because it keeps falling out while I'm working on the rest of the window. I put one screw in the regulator just to hold it in place while I'm working on these other two areas. I'm not sure how many times it took you to get it perfected but I gave up today and I'll go back at it tomorrow. I cannot believe that they did this on the assembly line to get a window into the regulator. It's almost like they put the window on the regulator and then they welded the quarter panel on. I just find it impossible to think they made 15,000 cars in 1967 and put the windows in like this every time. But I do enjoy your videos and you're a very patient man. Thank you for the help. 23:50

      Thanks, Dean. I'm sorry your clip isn't going on. But I'm not surprised. That thing is a bearcat! Your experience sounds a lot like mine, though. I had to walk away from that darn project multiple times over the course of weeks. I spent hours fussing with that one little clip.
      I have no clue how the factory did it. If they installed the glass and regulator before welding on the quarter panels, they'd need to protect those parts from overspray during paint. Plus, the regulator would get dipped in rust protectant along with the body before paint. On my car, it sure looked as thought the window and regulator were installed after paint. I'd sure like to know how they did it!

      I'm glad you found it helpful, Mike. 👍 Getting that one clip seated is the hardest part of the whole project. Hopefully yours will pop right into place! 🤞

    Thank you for doing this detailed informative video. Im in the final stages of gutting my interior and doing things right throughout after nearly 35 years. Im getting older and need help w some of the work so knowing what Im up against ahead of time is very useful, and should save time (and time = $) 🙂

      Best of luck with your project, @67charger67! I hope the video saves you some headaches. That one tricky roller that I talked about in the video was definitely the hardest part of the whole job, not to mention that it's a physically awkward position to be in while you're doing it. I'm getting older, too, and have bad chronic back pain. If you watch closely, you'll see that my outfit changes several times during this video. That's because I couldn't work for very long during any one stretch. I had to do the job over several days. That would be my only additional advice: don't push yourself! Take your time and avoid injuries. 👍

    You purchased the set from Classic Industries. Were there parts of the kit you did not use? Curious since the kit I happen to obtain via a friend does not have the black gaskets and sleeves.

    • @PaulBroenen
      @PaulBroenen  Рік тому

      You're right. The kit included those parts, which I did not use. My regulators didn't have those black gaskets and sleeves to begin with, and I didn't see how they could be fitted anywhere. I figured those parts were for power windows, but that's just my guess.

    Paul, I have to replace the rollers in my 67 Charger. Unfortunately, 2 years ago when I was getting the body work completed, I loosened my windo regulator withthe window attached and lowered it into the cavity so I could remove the cat wiskers and trim. Now I am ready to install my new rollers and haven't figured out how to remove my glass first and then the regulator. I understand now that I was supposed to roll the window up and remove two or three bolts that hold the glass? What do you suggest I do at this point toget the glass out? I tried to move the assembly up to reinstall the nuts to then crank the window up but with the broken roller it doesn't want to move up. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you, Dean.

      Sorry for the late reply. We’ve been camping for a couple of weeks. Is the regulator-plus-window assembly detached from the body? If so, I would try cranking the window down as far as you can (which it sounds like you already did), then try shifting the whole assembly around enough to allow you to reach up into the cavity to access the rollers. I suspect this might require removing the vertical tracks so you have more room to move the assembly around.
      We’re on the road now. I’ll check back when I can…

      Thank you for the late response, thus my late reply. I was able to remove the glass. Once I removed the driver side qtr window assembly the passenger side came out in less time. Now I have to re-install. I can't imagine the original installation on the factory line was completed in steps like this. One would think the whole assembly could be installed and just bolted on.@@PaulBroenen

    I spent 5 hours Saturday on the passenger rear quarterv window and could not get the window fastened to the regulator. The clip would not snap on using the "C" clamp, the first step you did, I was succesful with but then that sleeve fell off as I tried to snap in the clip. I was able to get two of the rods connected but neither of the pieces that fit on the spring rollers or the first roller. Needless to say I gave up. This is the second attempt. I waited months to do this, so I can install my interior and I will be finished with my build after 3 years. Very frustrating, not sure what I am going to do without the rear quarter windows installed. I have watched your video 40 or 50 times. I find ot hard to believe you did this video in the 35 minutes. Just venting and very frustrated as I watch your video for the 51st time..

      I feel for you, Dean! That clip is a total bearcat. Did the clip happen to get overstretched/overextended? The four little tabs on the clip can get bent too far, to the point that they no longer grip groove on the regulator’s pin/shaft. That happened to me once. The clip would just fall off.

And you’re right, it took me much longer than 35 minutes to assemble everything. I spent many frustrating hours over several sweaty attempts. (You can even see that my clothing changed multiple times in the video!)

      The two things I did that ultimately seemed to help were: 1) I made myself as comfortable as possible for the long, arduous effort, and 2) I experimented with positioning the regulator and window differently with each attempt. There’s so little room for error when aligning the components, and you’re doing it mostly blind, so it’s easy to have things askew by a fraction of a millimeter and not know it.
      Hang in there, buddy. I wish I could stop by and give you a hand with it!

      Dean, I was just thinking about your situation, and wondered if you happened to try cranking the regulator into a different position? I recall there were times when I would pop the handle onto the regulator, give it a crank one way or the other to see if things lined up better. It definitely made a difference.

    Have you done a vent window I’m struggling with glass fitting on gram with née gasket

    • @PaulBroenen
      @PaulBroenen  2 роки тому

      I have not done a vent window like this Dodge Charger's. I'm not sure I understand your comment. When you say "gasket" are you talking about setting tape or molded rubber? Is it original or new? What year and model of car?

    67 coronet molded rubber for vent window

    Those look like they are glue in glass at the mounting point or pressure fit.

    • @PaulBroenen
      @PaulBroenen  2 роки тому

      Hi, Eddie. There was black adhesive material between the glass and metal frame on both quarter windows. I couldn't tell if it was originally setting tape or glue when I took apart the driver side window, because the stuff was deteriorated and mixed with fine dirt that seeped down into the channel.
      I also measured the width of the glass and the width of the channel, and the glass was narrower. Definitely not a pressure fit.
