HeLL No on Season 2😢 I appreciated your breakdown I'm glad you did NOT like this hot garbage season finale. I agree with you about the positives in the show: I liked the witty banter between Apollo and Patrice, and Lillian, his Mom. I didn't even mind my confusion with things like, why were the women on the island acting as though they were being held against their will; because I wrongly thought it would be explained later. I enjoyed the music. Was it Apollo's intentions to cheat Patrice out of his share of the book money; because, he never mentioned anything about finding the book, until after he was going to commit suicide; only then did he just give Patrice the book. Then when the book was being sold Apollo was again sucked back into the whole books deal - being the better book seller. That storyline didn't go anywhere. Then Apollo rows off the island, and went back to baby Brian's grave??? rather than going to find baby Brian?? Again, Why did Cal even tell him where Emma had gone? Did they just need a place to stick that tidbit of information into the story?? Convoluted Storyline. smh. I enjoyed the William character; then this episode, in the end, he literally fell flat on his face. It's like the lyrics from Lupe Fiasco's song really, for the answers to all the unresolved mysteries 'I don't wanna care right now.'
The finale felt more like a mid season finale. During the long writers strike I wonder how many shows were originally canned was released just so they can continue to have new shows. This episode was complete let down. The show leading up to this ep was so intriguing. It captured me from ep 1. But to end on this note regardless of a strike was a huge disappointment.
This episode was so ridiculous yet it didn’t surprise me at all after the placement of last week’s episode. This is a story with a great idea for a streaming show & they did a great job of digging deep and giving us so much to think about but it just seems that they didn’t know how to complete a season. Seemed like maybe we’re missing something? Idk, if they encountered troubles why not just delay the damn thing till they get it right!!! ??? This episode sucked and really last me on the show. All of the growling and taunting by William was silly, if he really wanted to kill them why didn’t he charge after them ?? The same goes for the business of Apollo calling out that “I am the God Apollo & I have come for my revenge!!! Stupid!!! Half amazing story, half stupid childish unexplainable behavior with this show. I’m probably done, I’d say don’t bother with another season. They won’t get enough repeat viewers.
Loved the acting, loved the writing-up to a point. But the whole thing went downhill for me in the last 2 episodes. The finale was horrible and I wish I’d never seen it. Spoiled the show as a whole. My favorite part was Lillian’s story. Totally awesome acting on her part. An Award winning performance in IMO.
A complete let down. I was so excited for this show after the first episode. Every subsequent episode was a bit worse than the last. I’m ok with leaving some things to imagination. But, we never got a single answer to anything. Also, much of the show just didn’t make sense. Why did Emma need to beat Apollo with a hammer? Why can’t Callisto give straight answers to any questions? The photo in Norway?
This finale was trash! I actually don't give a good-goddamn about a season 2! TBH, I lost interest long ago, but I tried really, really hard! There were some great elements to season 1, as you mentioned. The acting is great!!! But, it feels to me that the writers of this show went on strike around episode 4 and the producers had ChatGPT finish the rest of the story! Seriously, this finale is worse than the finale of Lovecraft Country, while LC ruined everything, AT LEAST wrapped up most of the storylines and left off on a new cliffhanger.
Fck season two. They have drug out what could've been a good story but trying to be all cryptic and deep to drag this another season is where they have lost interest of viewers. If lakeieth wasn't lead actor people would have lost interest by the 3rd episode.
I've read the novel. While a little more is explained there, its ending is also really disappointing. If the show continues for a second season, it will probably go off in some other direction. I don't know how interesting that would be, to be honest. Nothing in the show quite matched the first episode.
With everything that was left so open, a person could really write some amazing storyline just based on what we didn't get. What was in the suitcase? That could be expanded so far inwouldnt be surprised if it was a land of magical beings small enough to fit into a suitcase that mom was supposed to protect in exchange for whatever deal she made with whomever she made it with. It could be so big if they decide to take the creative licenses to expand.
I was thinking the same! I read the book as well and honestly the ending wasn’t that good. All these different ideas everyone has about the story is better then what actually happens in the book.
I still want to know why Emma’s friend greeted Apollo by saying “There’s the father of the bride!” 🥴😂 The UA-camrs definitely dived deeper than what the writers presented. It’s like we got a bunch of misdirections bc there are way too many loose ends to be tied. Also, they wasted those first 5 minutes with that “recap.” Everyone’s was like “we knew this already!” 😂 Overall, very disappointing but the silver lining is finding UA-camrs like you who dive deep. So here’s to watching other shows/movies and watching your commentary and theories!
It is absolutely insane to me that they decided to make the finale the shortest episode with the least amount of answers. I’m wondering if they ran out of money or something by the time they filmed this episode. I loved literally everything about the show up until now so this was extremely disappointing. Season 2 better be an absolute banger to make up for this mess of a season finale.
I was so excited to see this series and was truly engaged for the first 6 episodes. I even watched the episodes twice so that I didn’t miss anything. When episode 7 hit I was let down. I always dislike stand-alone episodes and even worse, this was the penultimate episode. When I saw the finale was 30mins I tuned out. What a letdown! We don’t even know if there’s going to be a Season 2 so I’m not holding my breath.
Awful, they sacrificed wrapping it up on the presumption their gonna get a second season really disappointed, a 90min finale closing it up would have been fine for me…Lakeith Stanfield great as always though
I found the show's finale quite engaging. The intense action left me eager for the answers we've been waiting for. Although the teasing was a bit frustrating, I'm excited for the possibility of a second season and will definitely tune in if it happens.
Ya know... I'm so over these shows not answering 1 question at the end of a season. AND it was short to begin with! If there is a season 2, I'm just going to wait for someone to say it's AMAZING in order for me to binge it. Or just come on here for all the spoilers and entertaining breakdowns. A total waste of time!
It feels like we're missing 2 episodes. Maybe there we're originally 10 scripts, but it didn't fit with apples 8 episode strategy, so they had to cut. Character driven episodes like last weeks ep 7 usually come two thirds in, not towards the very end. I bet they had to cut down the story they had planned for season 1.
Alright, people listen up!😂 I could have handled the short episode if...... Firstly, during the flashback at the start, they should have stated what Emma's third wish was, even though we pretty much know what it is. Secondly, at the end, when Apollo finally starts to find his strength again, I would have loved to see his character end the season with a golden/fiery glow in his eyes as he starts to awaken for season 2. How many times have we heard him say, ''I'm the God Apollo?'' Emma's been glowing for days, haha😂. Both scenes could have been enhanced with these two simple things, but instead, they build it up just to let us down.
I haven't seen so much of nothing in such a long time. More vague Norwegian mythology, same imagery, new vague imagery. At this point, everybody is dead and we are in purgatory with a giant eyeball. The actors are wonderful, the cinematography is beautiful but nothing happened. This is worse than From. And I'm going to watch s2, because something is wrong with me. Now I got to look up kindergarten.
Fine I’ll say it, this show sucks, it started out with promise but the last 3 episodes went downhill. They didn’t explain or show anything, the third wish, the troll, is Baby Brian alive, Apollos father storyline which added absolutely nothing to the story, I’ve lost interest, I even read a book review after this episode and it seems there’s nothing more to the story…
Severely disappointing finale. Kinda felt it would be after last weeks episode, but had a little hope still left because i really enjoyed and/or was intrigued by the first few eps. But man, wtf was that?! No answers, stupid misdirects, and just cheesy dialog and "action". Such a let down.
Soooo Disappointed… feel like the investment in this series was a waste of time.. A creature you never really see, a baby you never see again, a third wish that is never revealed… it’s like they ran out of money and they wrapped it up with the resources they had. 😭
@MovieFiles Unsurprisingly the finale was weak. Sadly, the writers would be wrong to assume the audience will return if there is a season 2. The trailer gave me the impression that this show might be similar to American Gods but it's nothing like it -- the fantasy elements are lacking. The acting performances are good, but the story arc didn’t go anywhere like the carousel at the end.
No need to apologize E for sharing you honest feelings about how bad this was. Yup.We got LOSTed. I agree the production was great as well as all the actors. I didn't read the book but this smells like someone who was not able to make a good screenplay out of a book. The penultimate episode was placed poorly, boring and longer than the finale. The recap at the beginning of this was odd and off-putting.The fact that they brought back the teasing of the third wish was pointless. When they got off the cliff they could cut out the whole scene of cal taking the group to the boat.Time is of the essence why?Why did we need to see that? She could have just told them head to the large boat I have something to do with Apollo.Having her shoot William with a revolver from 1000 meters away was laughable.Middle aged woman who needed a rope to get down then did parkour up the side of a cliff? What?Could we not even see the so called monster? Again they didn't have to answer everything they should have answered some. They answered nothing.Zero reward for a loyal audience. No season 2 for me.Silver lining is that this is based off of a book.Im off to wikipedia now for answers.
I am glad I read the book! I wish season 1 was more episodes!!! It better have a season 2! I think the author is trying to sell more books because I only bought it because the season was moving too slow. The acting is great I don't know why this episode was so short. We will see
Totally agree 👍 finale was garbage I didn’t even realize it was the finale until the end. They wasted time with the montage/recap and was that a dragon a troll a smoke monster or their imagination? So many unanswered questions great acting but haphazard writing and development at times all that being said I’ll watch season 2 if it’s not 2-3 years from now and has an actual resolution
Welp Hollywood needs to pay the writers their money, because you can tell by this finale, AI is not going to be able to compete with human imagination and ingenuity. This season finale was atrocious. They must have went on strike after they wrote epusode 7. Because i can not see how that information tied in with the season finale.
Terrible in Finale, just terrible. The show got cringer as each episode was released Everybody is a girl boss. The men are bad and don’t listen, to women. The show ended up being a time up and believe all women series. It ended up being me Terrible series. The episode was short because they split it in half. The previews that we are seeing are part of the season finale trash.
I knew the last episode was going to be disappointing. Where the makers of the show went wrong was episode 7. They interrupted the flow of the series by diverting from the main story with Lillian's journey. Episode 7 was not only weird, it was unnecessary. If they stayed with Apollo and Emma's storyline, we would be much further along. I can't believe they wasted an entire episode on Lillian when Emma got only five minutes at the end of the season with no real answers given to us. Disappointed!
The show is a complete waste of time like the book. Not sure why this book was even made into a show. Even the changes in the show from the book, still can't save this mess.
The last two episode were filler and should not have been there I read the book and they are trying to stretch this show it could have been wrapped up perfectly in 8 episodes but it feels like a cash grab or something because the stuff they are adding isn’t necessary to the story
This show had so much potential and could've been written better. I don't think I'll be tuning in if there is a second season unless they stop with the draaaaaaaagging and get to the point.
The show was really really good, a throwback to the trippy mind bending movies of the late 90s early 2000s that I was really into. However, the half hour finale was NOT a good ending. It made me look up the ending in the book to see what actually happens lol. I never do that. Performances were great, production, etc but if you’re going to bend our minds we need a payoff to bring it all together otherwise it’s not brilliant.
I never watched a show that grab me up and be so excited to watch, just to be like, this bullshit! The title of episode 8 don't match the episode. Had me telling people about this shit 🤣 All over the place with leaving reality going into fantasy with no fantasy 🤦♂ Will did an entire change and nobody explain what he was, nobody talked about what was chasing them, and Cal killed William, I think just to kill herself 🤣🤣🤣 Than they show Apollo getting bit by something and walking in an tunnel and see an eye. Cal claws were so trash when she stab William in the stomach. Shit went from sugar to shit in 8 episodes!
When I was watching the finale I thought the intro was something I could skip! I was like what are they doing?! We don’t need a reminder and it was damn near 15 minutes long! They could’ve used that time to answer some questions. I was not happy about the finale and I really hope we get a season 2… they really messed up with the finale imho.
Waaaaaaay too many unanswered questions for a season finale. Very disappointing, anticlimactic and dropped overall rating for the series. Yes, I'll be here for a season 2 if there is one because up until the finale, I was enjoying the series & I need answers!
I think the episodes are out of order and now with the finale we can watch it as it should be in a linear timeline. The episode last week just blows me away
Oh my god, when I saw how short it was I got immediately upset but then after watching I feel so freaking disappointed. I was really holding out hope that this would be a 10 episode series but ending it like this is just disappointing beyond measure.
Agreed 100% with your assessment. The acting was great but the story was terrible. The first half was great. I think episode 5 was the last one I like. The rest didn't make sense to me. Too many plotlines and mysteries that were left hanging. Very frustrating!
I think the author was influenced by Beowolf and therefore William is a monster (I’m thinking baby troll), his mother ( who’s in the water) and a dragon. Not sure cause it was late by it was an impression. Is this crazy?
I'm starting to feel like this is some sort of story out of a book, and apollo is the author and emma along with the other characters are real people in his real life. Because we don't see who the monster is and he keeps yelling he's a God like you would when you read a book to a child or children, I don't know but this episode just sort of felt fake to me lol
Thank you - excellent analysis. So many loose ends and unexplained things in this series. This is one series I have not enjoyed. Most of Apple TV series are excellent- but I could care less if there is a second season& I likely will not waste my time watching. The acting is great , but the writing and production leave a lot to be desired. There were some brilliant moments in the series and I thought the earlier episodes were better. A show with a lot of potential, but many unanswered questions and preposterous scenes.
I just binged this series this weekend and although I was extremely captivated and impressed with the beginning of the series, this ending, and if I’m being honest episode 7 as well were so disappointing. This episode was so short and there was no true resolve or satisfaction at all! Not sure what happened but it definitely looks like the writers and director lost their original steam.
The way this show ended I was confused and upset. They lost me in episode 7. We didn't need an entire episode to know that his father tried to hurt him what a waste that should have been an earlier episode before Apollo went to the Island preferably!! I was completely done by episode 8!
I was confused after the first three episodes and wasn’t sure if I should invest anymore time so I decided to come look for comments to confirm my assumptions…thanks not gonna finish
This was such a disappointing season finale. In fact, this episode should have been shown before all of those filler episodes. However, it has a season 2 I would watch to see if it answered any of the lingering questions.
The end scene with the giant creature/eye: Are we sure this is Apollo making his way to the creature? It could be William. The end scene of William on the computer could also be a flashback since he seems younger (full head of hair, no scars from fighting Cal, etc). They could have condensed those two scenes together via using the voice over for the William computer scene on top of the William crawling to the creature. This way each character get one end scene. Giving William 2 (or if it's Apollo in the creature scene) confuses the ending even more.
This finale was almost ALMOST as bad as Game of Thrones....I hope they have another season. Ps...you should do an analysis of Twin Peaks. Thank you for the breakdown. The actors were great, the script definitely needed some work I would give it an 8.5 overall.
Great review. "A nothingburger with a side of ridiculousness " You are crazee! Yeah, the show started strong, but fizzled out. It lost its footing, somehow.
Sorry, but your review made me rather angry, like you've turned into a troll which I never thought possible . It should have been patently obvious to any viewer - especially after the last couple of episodes - that this was never going to give us any answers. It's plainly just the first half of the novel (which I haven't read), so any answers will have to wait for season 2. You (and others) may well think this was a rubbish season finale, but I for one disagree. It perfectly set up the second half of the story with plenty of plot strands left dangling. I will most definitely tune in for season 2!
This finale was a troll. I’m glad you enjoyed not getting answers and give passes to series dragging things along in hopes for a season 2 that may or may not happen.
How very optimistic of you lol. Safe to say the chances of a season 2 are slim to none. Why would anyone tune in after an underwhelming ending with very few answers? The whole point is to captivate viewers and judging by the comments you seem to be the only satisfied viewer so I think the real troll is you
@@MovieFiles Well, we will have to agree to disagree. Also, my apologies for sounding a bit rude in my comment, I meant no disrespect! I see your complaint about this season not offering any answers whatsoever. Now, if this was an original series, I.e., not based on any source material, I would wholeheartedly agree. However, it is based on a novel, with the author of said novel heavily involved in the show (he is also the voice of the narrator). As an adaptation of the first half of a book it probably just follows the structure of the source material (as have other adaptations before). I daresay it was conceived like that from the start. And unless they had 2 seasons greenlit from the start (entirely possible), it's a strategy not without risk. We'll just have to wait and see...

Both scenes could have been enhanced with these two simple things, but instead, they build it up just to let us down.
I hated this finale because if there is no season 2 we will never have answers.why couldn’t it be 10 episodes to flush the story out?
Knew something was wrong when the last episode was loaded up as a 30min finale 🤦🏻♂️
So disappointing
Yeah Im not a fan of come back not time to find out 🤦🏽♂️
I knew I was gonna be pissed 😤 cause I am 😡
And no I do not need a season 2😵💫
the acting performances were great, cinematohrapher (shoutout Melina Matsoukas) the writing, the mother's episode esp but ugh I'm so disappointed
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts and for supporting the video
I am glad I read the book! I wish season 1 was more episodes!!! It better have a season 2! I think the author is trying to sell more books because I only bought it because the season was moving too slow. The acting is great I don't know why this episode was so short. We will see
Yeah loved the acting but the writing in the finale was ridiculous
They literally gave us a filler episode as a finale. I’m still mad about it. 🤬
Yeah very disappointing conclusion
this show started off so promising but that finale was so trash...
William Webster Wheeler = World Wide Web (www)
I just finished the episode… what the hell did I just watch? 😕
🚮
The first 4 episodes were good then it went completely downhill.
The overall show made no sense to me. What was the point or message behind any of it?
This show had so much potential and could've been written better. I don't think I'll be tuning in if there is a second season unless they stop with the draaaaaaaagging and get to the point.
Yeah such a disappointment
They must of ran out of money after episode 6😂
That was beyond bad. And it was the shortest.
I was disappointed .. it was terrible
Yeah very disappointed
❤
Didn't meet my expectations
Lol
When I was watching the finale I thought the intro was something I could skip! I was like what are they doing?! We don’t need a reminder and it was damn near 15 minutes long! They could’ve used that time to answer some questions. I was not happy about the finale and I really hope we get a season 2… they really messed up with the finale imho.
The fact they thought it was a good idea to recap everything we literally just watched lol
a troll with reptile eyes????
Waaaaaaay too many unanswered questions for a season finale. Very disappointing, anticlimactic and dropped overall rating for the series. Yes, I'll be here for a season 2 if there is one because up until the finale, I was enjoying the series & I need answers!
Yeah, “come back for more” is so frustrating
It left me with so many questions hoping they have a season 2
The finale was trash…
This review is way more entertaining than the episode itself! Your take had me laughing out loud. Totally agree with you.
Appreciate you watching my breakdown
I was livid! I did a full season rewatch and this one connected nothing. This episode gave nothing. I was so upset.
Yeah a complete waste
I think the episodes are out of order and now with the finale we can watch it as it should be in a linear timeline. The episode last week just blows me away
Yeah the back half felt so out of place
They should have told the story right. Everything now a days be getting cancelled so I am not hopeful for a second season.
Her last wish was a life full of adventure!!!
I assume you read the book or saw this somewhere online?
Wth was is so short and incomplete. I hate we never really got any real answers.
Agreed
It SUCKED
Oh my god, when I saw how short it was I got immediately upset but then after watching I feel so freaking disappointed. I was really holding out hope that this would be a 10 episode series but ending it like this is just disappointing beyond measure.
Wished the ending revealed more, but I’m not disappointed. Makes me eager for next season. The performances were great and I can’t wait to see more.
I NEED ANSWERS!!! A season 2 is definitely needed. Great breakdown!!!
Appreciate
Agreed 100% with your assessment. The acting was great but the story was terrible. The first half was great. I think episode 5 was the last one I like. The rest didn't make sense to me. Too many plotlines and mysteries that were left hanging. Very frustrating!
Totally agree
I think the author was influenced by Beowolf and therefore William is a monster (I’m thinking baby troll), his mother ( who’s in the water) and a dragon. Not sure cause it was late by it was an impression. Is this crazy?
I'm starting to feel like this is some sort of story out of a book, and apollo is the author and emma along with the other characters are real people in his real life. Because we don't see who the monster is and he keeps yelling he's a God like you would when you read a book to a child or children, I don't know but this episode just sort of felt fake to me lol
At this point, who knows 😂
Thank you - excellent analysis. So many loose ends and unexplained things in this series. This is one series I have not enjoyed. Most of Apple TV series are excellent- but I could care less if there is a second season& I likely will not waste my time watching. The acting is great , but the writing and production leave a lot to be desired. There were some brilliant moments in the series and I thought the earlier episodes were better. A show with a lot of potential, but many unanswered questions and preposterous scenes.
I had no idea this was the last video!! I’m in total shock. I was looking forward to answers in later episodes……fuck
Given that William is so hard to kill, what if he, himself is a changeling.
Yeah I mentioned that in episode 5
@@MovieFiles ill have to go back and watch that, thanks for letting me know!
This was such a disappointing season finale. In fact, this episode should have been shown before all of those filler episodes. However, it has a season 2 I would watch to see if it answered any of the lingering questions.
this was a worse season finale than Game of Thrones... never thought we'd ever say that
I stopped watching at ep 6 Got bored of the torment and confusion I see it didn't get better
Read the book
Shouldn't have to read the book. Most shows now don't stay too close to the events of the book anyway
Horrible finale
Agreed
The end scene with the giant creature/eye: Are we sure this is Apollo making his way to the creature? It could be William. The end scene of William on the computer could also be a flashback since he seems younger (full head of hair, no scars from fighting Cal, etc). They could have condensed those two scenes together via using the voice over for the William computer scene on top of the William crawling to the creature. This way each character get one end scene. Giving William 2 (or if it's Apollo in the creature scene) confuses the ending even more.
I'm so angry! E8 was thee worse end of a series of the year!
This finale was almost ALMOST as bad as Game of Thrones....I hope they have another season. Ps...you should do an analysis of Twin Peaks. Thank you for the breakdown. The actors were great, the script definitely needed some work I would give it an 8.5 overall.
Appreciate the support 👏🏾
Great review. "A nothingburger with a side of ridiculousness " You are crazee! Yeah, the show started strong, but fizzled out. It lost its footing, somehow.
Yeah this left me so confused and frustrated with how this ended 🤦🏽♂️
No sense 2 last 2 episodes were 🗑️🚮
I defo wanna see a S2! Sooo many questions…
Spot on, thank you
Appreciate you watching
I'm happy to see that the "smoke" monster got another gig after 13 years. (insert eye roll here)
Loli
Great recap, thanks dude. I sooo want to love this show but it’s nothing but frustration at this point.
Appreciate you watching the breakdown
@@MovieFiles Appreciate your great content about great shows
Sorry, but your review made me rather angry, like you've turned into a troll which I never thought possible .
