VIDEO INFORMATION
The Changeling Season 1 has finally come to an end, with honestly more breadcrumbs than trying to eat a Nature Valley granola bar. Was this a good finale? Ehhhhhhh, we’ll talk about that, along with some minor reveals and backstory, what to expect IF there is a season 2, and of course my overall thoughts on the series
I’m JBuck, Welcome to JBuck Studios. Thank you so much for stopping by, please click that Like button and subscribe as it really helps out the channel, and protects me from John Matrix, who is launching full trees in this episode. Now let’s get into episode 8 of The Changeling.
Straight to it, this was 100% a lackluster season finale. I mean come on, how are you going to spend 5 of the 30 minutes doing a recap and intro. And it was pretty obvious we already knew everything about William and that he was behind this whole operation.
I’m frustrated that’s all, but this is a bittersweet farewell, revenge, and reunion episode for Cal. She, like all of the other wise ones, had lost a child of her own, with all of this very much tied in with the Greek mythology revolving around Callisto. In that Zeus had masqueraded himself as Artemis, tricking Callisto into sleeping with him, and giving birth to her son Arcas. However due to this, she was cast out, and turned into her ursine or bear form. This is why Cal teases “showing her claws” when fighting William. Anyway as the myth continues, Arcas was out hunting and ran into the still bear form Callisto. As Arcas is about to unknowingly kill his mother, Zeus steps in, transforming them into the constellations of Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, which we see after Cal’s death, and this is them being reunited forever, and almost a make good for what Zeus had done to Cal.
I like this back story and nod, and is a fitting end for Cal. However one thing that is definitely not revealed, but mentioned in the book, is that Greta and Cal are biological sisters. This is why she is deeply hurt by the scene in the destroyed library, regrets bringing her back to the island, and why her fight with William is so emotional. It’s her last redemption for not only her son that was taken from her, but also the sister that was killed too. So uhh the more you know.

*THANK YOU everyone for stopping by! What did you think of this finale and massive cliffhangers??... Season 2 video is now live HERE:* ua-cam.com/video/Gl5UtweBJsY/v-deo.html
The fact they made the last episode 27 mins long pissed me off so bad 😂😂😂
Right?! Cal climbs a cliff takes up most of the run time
I needed an an hour and 15 minutes 😂
@@JBuckStudiosI’m so pissed she could’ve had jus stood up there
The show is getting on my nerves. Being artsy for being artsy. They need to tell a story and not just produce wonderful pictures and create ideas.
yessss started off great ended up mf stupid
I so agree!
Two wasted episodes just for this
I Should have just read the book and drank a V8
I absolutely wasted my time watching this🙄😑 started great but ended confusing
This season was such a letdown, which is unfortunate considering the performances were incredible. I doubt there will be a second season considering so many stronger shows still get the axe. A 7/10 is generous.
I agree, maybe I am being too harsh. But, after episode five it started to be less interesting.
I knew the last episode was going to be disappointing. Where the makers of the show went wrong was episode 7. They interrupted the flow of the series by diverting from the main story with Lillian's journey. Episode 7 was not only weird, it was unnecessary. If they stayed with Apollo and Emma's storyline, we would be much further along. I can't believe they wasted an entire episode on Lillian when Emma got only five minutes at the end of the season with no real answers given to us. Disappointed!
Episode 7 was beautiful and enjoyable when taken as the standalone character study it is. Separately, the entire season has pacing issues and the writers have chosen not to answer certain questions which I agree is a mistake but episode 7 isn't the reason we don't know more.
Emma's third wish being a power couple 😅
It pains me that the writers/author allude to and beat around the magical bush, but never actually let it take form. It's all so vague and mysterious and never consolidates these aspects into something palpable or substantial.
This season was completely underwhelming. Episodes 1-5, brilliant. After that, game of thrones vibes (trash ending). If there’s a season 2, I’ll catch the cliffnotes somewhere because I can’t dedicate my life, time and patience to this show again lol great review!
I’m gonna blame the last two episodes on budget 😩
I was waiting for the show to go full Pan’s labyrinth but it didn’t 😩
Alright, people listen up!😂
I could have handled the short episode if......
Firstly, during the flashback at the start, they should have stated what Emma's third wish was, even though we pretty much know what it is.
Secondly, at the end, when Apollo finally starts to find his strength again, I would have loved to see his character end the season with a golden/fiery glow in his eyes as he starts to awaken for season 2.
How many times have we heard him say, ''I'm the God Apollo?''
Emma's been glowing for days, haha😂.
Both scenes could have been enhanced with these two simple things, but instead, they build it up just to let us down.
What exactly is her 3rd wish?
Screw a season 2 lol this was such a disappointment!
truly.
They could have wrapped the whole show up in 8 episodes. If you read the book you know there isn’t that much left to the story. The last two episodes were so not necessary and weren’t at all from the book. So if next season is going to be all made up like the last two episodes I’m not interested
Woohoo....this episode was a bag of emotions! Happy for Cal but I truly wanted more. Waiting impatiently 😁 for season two 🤞....thanks for the break down Mr Buck.
The way the show ended, I give it a 4 out of 10, maybe 3 episodes that were really good. Shit was all over the place with no sense and the last show was so trash.
Funny enough those last episodes weren’t in the book and were by far the weakest. They took a risk, and I personally don’t think it paid off
This series had me riveted! The last episode gave absolutely no closuer on anything though so I will be reading the book and hoping a season 2 is greenlit.
The eye monster could be the huge monster in the water they showed creating that massive swell when they showed the island.
I really hope this show was affected by the writer, strike or something else, because it started off so strong and ended like it didn't even care. They didn't answer any questions, any metaphors, any dangling threads, at all. They want to keep talking in creative rhymes and maybe this may be that and never give you anything definitive. The clearest person was William and they left him in the shadows. The ending was 4/10 and that's being nice. I don't even want them to come back for a second season just a drag out all the questions and present new ones.
I agree with you great start then end had thing what am watching.
The start was a perfect attention grabber
I mean if Emma finds her way into the fairies domain amd steals her baby back, maybe even taking back some of the older kids, ivcould see that making the faries really mad, causing them to lash out at humanity for having what they love most stolen from them. That could be how Brian brings about the apocalypse.
😂 Love the intro
This is a good review. I feel exactly the same way about the ending and the last three episodes. Filler and then a rush at the end. Wtf. But still an amazing series/story and great actors
Totally agree! Maybe outrage from feeling cheated out of a season finale, will bring about a second season… great review though ❤
I can’t wait for season 2.
I was so mad that the last episode was so
Dark no matter how much I changed my brightness
I absolutely loved it! I think the not knowing is maybe for viewers to be inside of Apollos mind, like Cal said to him “once you believe”. he’s still “wtf” just like the viewers lmao also third wish I think was a “life full of adventure”
Your tripping , I gotta brother like you genuinely enjoys anything thats presented to him😂
@@Phantom-ina-Phantomlol stop 😂
Because I googled the book I already knew what they ending was kind of. Soooo I definitely am disappointed in the ending.
The best season finale I have seen in quite a long time is The wheel of time!!
Not enough answers. Too many loose ends!! I hate that!!
20 min episode, definitely not a good finale...
Are you watching the Fall of the House of Usher
I want to, but don’t think I’ll have enough time to do a breakdown ☹️
I don't get it anymore 😕
Apple+ doesn't seem to cut stories off and screw its watchers, by just cancelling stories with no resolution-like Netflix and other content sources
❤
Ridiculous, disappointing ending! A silly, tangled mess with no real understanding or conclusion???
Just tons of breadcrumbs leading us to more breadcrumbs
100% agree
The kinder garten clan give me child trafficking vibes
Definitely so
No I give it a 8.5
After episode 3, this show was terrible. Absolutely horrific. I didn't even finish the final episode because I didn't know what the HELL was going on. I won't bother with season 2 whatsoever. AWFUL 👎👎
A bs ending
