Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

- Chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookies imbedded with walnuts. These heavenly cookies are a yummy classic. Enjoy them fresh out of the oven for instant happiness! I added toasted walnuts for some extra crunch and loved the result. You can bake yours with pecans, macadamia nuts or plain!
WHAT MAKES A COOKIE CHEWY?
Adding ingredients that hold moisture like brown sugar, eggs, and more flour will give your cookies a cakier, soft chewy texture. You can also decrease the baking temperature and increase the bake time.

"If you don't like chocolate, Why are you watching this video!?!?"
Best line ever lol
Who doesn't like chocolate like WHOOO
@@ss-yr7ec My boyfriend doesn't. He says chocolate makes phlegm. Weirdo~
BTW, both my grandma and a friend of mine love chocolate but hate dark chocolate. That's really weird to me, too.
@@Jeffffrey0902 are you gay?
Why does it matter if a person is gay?
Because he is cute as can be!
There are a few things that I enjoy about your videos; the first is the realism of your environment, i.e. your kids crying or playing in the background, things going wrong and you recovering, flour all over, etc. This is like our home and makes me feel that you are like me or the average household. The second thing is using your teaching skills to break down the tasks and explain the cooking process. Feel free to add more of your science background. It helps us understand the 'why' behind cooing. Keep it up. I am enjoying your videos.
He is awesome!🤗
Martinez Mc yup But sat to say he’s married 😘😘🤫

Definitely sad to say ☹️

“Burn ‘em!” 😂 I swear I love you, your personality is the icing on the cake. Your delicious recipes and your personality...a winner for sure!
I was going to tell you to stand in line and then I saw your name was Marlene, then I started cracking up because every time I want to write the same comment on other videos, I end up deleting it.
The fact that he doesn't hide that he can be a messy baker, is what makes him so unique and realistic!
“Tenderly adding those calories in...just for you”

“Tenderly adding in those calories just for you” 😂🤣👌🏾

"I'm disgusting like that.." 🤣 We all are, John. We all are.
One i love how in every video he always has a smile on his face. He just seem like a overall happy guy. 2. I love how he loves what he does
Tried these without the pecans, these were so good. Soft on the inside and crunchy on the edges...YUMMM
I tried this recipe and its the best soft-cookie recipe ever! The outside turned out to be crispy and the inside was super soft! My cookies took 20 mins to bake though.
I helped my nieces make these, and it was AH-MAZING! We used both milk and white chocolate pieces. Yummy 😋 thanks John, sending love from South Africa 🇿🇦

I just made these today, I used 1/2 almond extract and 1/2 vanilla extract and it added a little twist to the flavor. These are by far the best cookies I have had in a long while!💕
To me your husband is the luckiest man on earth for having a husband like you: delightful, positive, humorous and a great baker just for himself...all the best of luck for you both

I made these yesterday! I have finally found a chocolate chip cookie recipe that’s a keeper. The toasted pecans made the cookies so delicious. Yum!
I like the fact that you always are smiling, and I feel it genuine. 😉
Started watching your videos a day back and I’m loving all videos i’ve seen so far. I absolutely love the fact that you use cups to measure your ingredients, unlike most other youtubers who fail to mention quantity in cup(s)❤️. Have a great day, chef.
Just made these and I’m not exaggerating when I say these are THE BEST chocolate chip cookies I have ever had!! Mine were flatter because I used melted butter and left out the nuts but wowowowow such a perfect recipe! Forever grateful!
And then... “burn em!”
That sounded so evil 😂😂
Yum! Who doesn't love chocolate chip cookies? These look fantastic.
Ikr? I've loved chocolate chip cookies since I was a kid.
Greets from Greece. We tried your recipe (reduced the sugar a bit) and it was wonderful. I also found a piece burnt beneath the silicone mat and you were totally on point,it was perfect. Keep up the good work my friend
I've been getting more and more into baking lately and your videos have inspired me so much. I'm still a novice but I've learned so many great tips watching your videos and cake wait to keep making more delicious desserts
This is exactly the recipe I use! You're right - the best cookie recipe. Thank you!
I love burnt crispy cookies!!!! They’re the best!! I always tell myself I’be burnt a few calories out lmaoooo
I always burn a batch of peanut butter cookies on purpose for my personal stash...I thought I was all alone in loving burnt cookies...haha!
I always say the act of breaking open the cookie and the crumbs falling out are the calories falling out so then I can always have just that one more cookie... 😋🤪
I followed this recipe exactly as it is and they were amazing!! Thanks 🙏🏻

My wife used to make me my own batch of PB cookies, just for me, burnt on the bottom..so delicious with coffee!!
The way you explain each details shows how professional and disciple you're💯💜
Thank you for your fabulous recipes! Most of all, thank you for your fabulous teaching style. I enjoy learning the how's and whys (i.e. the science) behind the recipes. You are a gifted teacher!
And my eyes widen when i heard “my husband” i mean in a good surprised way. 😊
Really doesn't seem like a shocker to me
@Kaitlin Relf I know right. ;)
I replayed it back like 3 times!!

Great videos John, love your honest personality. Your recipes are amazing!!!
I could watch you cook all day! Love the attitude:)
You have to love an experienced cook who says “it’s okay to burn them!”
Awesome, I love chewy cookies. Just in time for Valentine’s Day. My hubby loves chocolate chip cookies. Thank you.
What an awesome culture that you can openly love and say "my husband". I smiled when you said it. I can't imagine what my parents will do if I had this situation. Actually I do know. They will hang themselves.
Bro that hella shook me
Yeah really shocking
I never knew he was gay. I thought he was a good straight gentlemen. Wow. Really surprised me. I've always wanted to see his "wife" but there isn't one. Dang.
Pecans
Ok, fixing to try these. Wish me luck
I had macadamia nuts in hand instead of pecans. OMG! Yes it turned out great. We chilled ours for like 15 min bc I forgot to preheat the oven so I stuck the dough in the fridge while I cleaned up and preheated ❤️
I tried this recipe (minus the nuts) and it is DELICIOUS!!! The cookies stayed nice and chewy for two days (that's as long as they lasted at my house). I will definitely be using this cookie recipe regularly.
“If you don’t like chocolate... why are you watching this video?” LOL you crack me up.
Wow you have a fun personality. Thank you for the recipe.
I tried many cookie recipes, but all of them turned out so bad, but then I tried your cookie recipe and I just baked them and they smell and taste soooooo good, thank you so much for this recipe♥️✨
Sooo good! Best baking and cooking recipes ever! Awesome job John :) ty!!! Never boring either and always explain why you should or shouldnt do something or what you will get doing different things..very much appreciated!
"Your husband", is that considerate, or what? So Sweet. Like, like, like.
I'd love to see a crispy thin chocolate chip cookie recipe! Very delicious and it'd be great in my icebox cake!
I made those yesterday (just without the nuts and a little bit less sugar) and they were GLORIOUS seriously THE BEST chocolate chip cookies I've ever made! And it was sooo easy :) I will make them again soon haha
I just got a job at Starbucks and I wanted to bring a treat for my coworkers, these will be perfect :)

Love your personality, you have a calm demeanor, and I love you for that. Great teacher......
Crispy and soft. A great compromise, like a great marriage. Feeling a bit sentimental. Celebrated 37th anniversary yesterday. I like how you use all of the senses. Noticing the color and creaminess and smelling the yummy ingredients. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Ow plZzzz did you say my husband😞
I love this guy !! I feel his pain ! I too love my crunchy cookie golden brown at the edges ! I just finish baking /experimenting with a batch to make the perfect cookie . I was playing with the time for each batch to get perfect texture when I realized I forgot the baking soda 💥 🤯😭😭😭😭
Love this recipe! The cookies always come out just the way I like them!
I’d love to see a recipe for the very specific kind of cookie you love lol. My dad LOVES anything crispy and crunchy, and even my overbaked cookies.

Most amazing choc chip cookies indeed. I omitted the pecans this time but it was still delish. Melt in your mouth goodness. The last recipe was too sweet but this is the perfect balance. Now to find the right chocolate chips🙆. Thank you John. Love your work. Mel
every video i watch theres a new kitchen and a new kitchen aid
Show us the recipe for the super crispy ones!!! PLEASE.

Cook them more...
Becky Barnett he said nix the brown sugar and cook a bit longer.
skip the brown sugar + 227g butter (1cup) & 227g cake flour + 1 whole egg ONLY. do not egg 2 eggs as it will make your cookie thick and hard. Easy ratio to remember by : 1 part butter + 1 part flour + 1 egg. Multiply as needed if you need to make more. Reason why I use cake flour is because it has added cornstarch in it. It makes your cookie crispy and crumbly.
I can tell you how I just achieved crispy flat ones with this recipe. Oops! I must have left the butter get too soft because my cookies looked so different from the ones in this video. Oh well, lesson learned.
"and burn them!" Hahaha you are so funny! Great video like always!
I’ve never made homemade chocolate chip cookies before & I tried these for the first time today, they are hands down the best cookies I’ve ever had‼️‼️ also this recipe made 25 Cookies using a cookie scooper.
My 1 1/2 year old loves when we bake and use the mixer, definitely will be making these tomorrow morning with her!
I made this cookie following the recipe on your website which says to use baking soda and the cookies came out a bit too soft/flat but still nice and chewy. My niece absolutely loved them!
For future bakes though, I'd like to find out if we are meant to use baking soda (per your recipe on website) or baking powder (as instructed in this video)?
Oh no! I love soft chewy cookies haha. I would LOVE an oatmeal raisin recipe 😈
Just made these! Yum! Thanks again!!! They’re delicious
Finally getting a kitchen aid professional 6 qt stand mixer in two weeks. I can’t wait to make cookies! And other mixer goodies! Thanks for the recipe!
"personally, I like crunchy cookies" 😮 * clutches pearls *

Tenderly adding those calories... LOL! I will try this one out this weekend. Thanks!
I made these for my Dad for Father's Day 2021....made them Wednesday morning...they arrived in TX on Thursday and by Saturday morning, they were ALL GONE!!! He didn't have any to enjoy on Father's Day!!! I'm going to make more...he said they were the BEST!!! Thanks for the recipe!
I love burnt cookies!🍪my husband and daughter love chewy and soft 😜. Thank you for explaining the difference in the sugar for both crispy and chewy cookies. 😋
I tried your blueberry pie recipe with the lattice and got great compliments for it. Best blueberry pie ever!
“Tenderly adding in those calories” yes please
I’m so glad you gave a reason to use unsalted butter. Before I saw this I never understood why baking recipes called for it.
Man, I love the way you teach. I wish all instructors were like you :)
Well, John...I've gotta say, I'm going to have to agree with your hubby on this one -I'm all about cookies that are thick, soft, and even a little gooey with molten chocolate. Thanks for the video!
Oh how I wish I could be your official taste tester😛
Wow! I just baked these cookies & they are scrumptious! I didn't have any nuts in the pantry but I will be adding macadamia nuts next time. I also left it in the oven for a few minutes longer for more browning. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!! It's a keeper!
I love a burnt cookie my self, love all your tutorials super delicious thank you your amazing
