Abridged version on the lore of why the worm familiar scene is so interesting: the previous lore we had of the Hive's origins from the Books of Sorrow said they made a pact with the Deep and the worm gods to survive a coming cataclysm. That scene tells us that this lore (told from the perspective of the Hive) was not the full story. The cataclysm that drove them to the Deep was a lie; the Traveler was actually coming to their home planet (they "will soon be claimed by The Light.") So to get to them first, Rhulk (the raid boss and an absolute Gigachad) single-handedly subjugated the work gods and then used them to take control of the hive. Through the pact they were tricked into making, ascendant Hive are now forced to feed their worms or die and the he literally has the worm mother captive in his pyramid. It's very fun to re-read the Books of Sorrow knowing the full story.
It's very cool that since a Pyramid ship was discovered on the moon in Shadowkeep, that The Witness's influence spreads into other music tracks since then, reminding us it's coming Also pls check out The Witness's theme in the ost if u haven't already! It's track 32
If you wanted to look up that theme you were jamming to starting at approx 6:58, that's Abberant Path. Which on the soundtrack, is the first combat theme you hear! Also Savathun's fight theme is called the Dethroned, which is a fantastic allusion name wise to Regicide, Oryx's fight theme
Man, we gotta get you into Vow of the Disciple. The art designs, encounters and god, the *music,* it is a truly spectacular experience. The First Disciple is by no means the only banger in that collection.
Honestly, one of my favorite raids. Definitely agree that he should jump in and experience it, although Idk if you can 100% take in the music when you've got your mind on mechanics.... although on second thought, maybe if you're stuck at an encounter long enough, the music really does "come through" lol...
If I could I’d help him run it but I don’t think he really has an intentions on running the raid. Iv carried all sorts of people through many raids so I’m very experienced with first time raiders by now

All throughout Destiny, the Light has always been a string instrument played in a major key. This time, it has been twisted to be used against us, twisting it into a minor key instead.

Something that I really have enjoyed about the soundtrack the last few years is how good Bungie is at telling their story through it. We first heard that Darkness motif at the end of the vanilla D2 campaign when the pyramid ships woke up. It wasnt until Shadowkeep that we started hearing that again, and ever since, as the Witness drew closer, that motif slowly but subtly started making its way into the music more and more as time went on. Songs thats previously didnt have the motif in it got remixed to be more distorted and play those synths. You really got to feel how the influence of the Witness was coming to its peak.
Man, so glad you finally got through this campaign! It’s honestly amazing, and the music gets me hyped everytime. We gotta get this man through some raids everybody!

Little piece of advice: Taipan is a LFR, it's only a good DPS option if you're landing crits, otherwise you're better off with any other heavy, and you don't need an LFR to kill a thrawl.
@@MarcoMeatball it is the best at DPS as unfortunate as it is you don’t like it. It is one of the top top top kings of DPS. Where as doing 14k to the body it does 40-70k to the head, on average around 60k
For anyone new or old that thinks Destiny 2 looks pretty neat (and it is). The Witch Queen expansion has been made free for all until February 26th! Xbox players will have to check out the store on their console to claim and other platforms should be able to simply login and start gaming!

Marco, since i'm pretty sure from seeing you fire your sidearm that you arent using it, recently Destiny added a full-auto toggle in the setting for all guns. makes some guns much more comfortable to use
Your breakdowns of the music are top notch as usual and I agree the music is phenomenal in this expansion. But I think another part that really cements this expansion as one of the best is Debra Wilson as Savathun. She's really the perfect pick.
A fun fact. Any lore entry that has "O {title} mine" anywhere in the chapter is canonically altered by Ahamkara to not be true lore. It is a 4th wall break even in the physical books. e.g.: "And thus the Ahamkara were made extinct, their call silenced, their solipsistic flatteries erased, their great design - if it ever existed - broken. Of this you can be assured, oh reader mine." On a more related note, Savathun knew this about the Witness and the Worms. You retrieved more of her memories. Being resurrected by the light, she lost her memories like everyone else who is brought back. She is actually the reason why one of the main villains is trapped, it was her doing to keep one of the Witness's Disciples at bay out of spite. Her lost memory is a detriment, as was you killing her.
The "pain" part hits really hard considering the hive lore... They were forced by witness to obey a strict and primal rule named "swore logic", which is: "might makes right/help each other or stand alone (but helping each other is a dumb thing)" To the point of their entire society and relationship is founded on it, to the point that they regard death is same as love. Parental relationship? Swordfight, or straght-up wage war to death! Interspecies relationship? Engage in a war of extinction! And savathun's trying to save her species from it...
Marco my man... There was a third wizard to kill to get a buff in order to multiply your damage against Savathun... You really went and ignored the whole fight's mechanic just to damage her normally. Such dedication! 🤣 Well I guess it means more time listening to this track, so it's cool! The last part of this extension really has amazing tracks. Between Dethroned, Abhorrent path and Seeking the Light... Damn. Great analysis as always. You were really into it and it shows. I know you won't do much gameplay videos after that, but I'm glad you got to make this one about the WQ campaign!
Savathun was basically trying to "trap" the Traveler in her own Throne World, Throne Worlds work as the "Owner" of them wants them to work, so Savathun wanted to get the Traveler in her own world, where everything acts by her own rules, making it unaccessable or something else, ofc we don't know if that was enough to stop the Witness or not but at the time it seemed like it. Add to this the fact that the Witness is about to collide with the Traveler in the newest trailer(s) the whole "The game is yours to play now" really hits hard. The Traveler could've been saved, maybe in the wrong hands but saved nonetheless, but we took it back and we might've bit off a more than we could chew. Atleast it stands with us right?! Because it stayed? Well... we don't know if the Traveler stayed because it believes in us, because the Witness said "It has nowhere else left to run".
It’s probably a bit long for a react video, but if you ever get the chance I’d give my highest recommendation to listening to Destiny 1’s 49 minute Music of the Sphere’s. It’s an 8 movement piece and Marty O'Donnell considers it to be his magnum opus even above his work in Halo. The entire work was a collaborative effort between Marty, Mike Salvatori, and Paul McCartney. Who Marty managed to recruit from an off the cuff comment taken seriously that ultimately lead to every star falling into place. 😂
My favorite thing about the Witness is he is so “alien” looking that it’s hard to explain what he looks like. Almost incomprehensible. So different from everything we’ve seen in the game thus far.

With the way the story’s going I wouldn’t be supriesd if we let Savathun be revived and offer peace for the hive and humanity to stand against the darkness they have the cabal scorn and taken we have the other half of the cabal the elikni. We kinda need the hive to even the odds for us

Little tip for gameplay, your heavy weapon you have on, does 5 or 6 times the damage if you hit headshots
