This video made me realize how much I wish there was a platform (as in like a youtube channel, podcast, etc.) that was just emcees and other rap nerds talking about the technical aspects of rapping - listen to a track and break down the syllable-placement, the rhyme scheme, the “vocal elastics” (as I call them), and all that fun stuff. I’d love to create something like that myself - and I’d do it too, if not for the fact that, y’know, I just probably won’t.
“Eminem - Biterphobia” off of his “Soul Intent” album in 1995. Eminem has always rapped fast. When he was younger he used to rap so fast you couldn’t even understand him.
I wouldnt say he always rapped fast, he for sure could and he has a few bits in songs here and there but he didnt make it a thing until round about rap god i dont think.

He rapped fast on “Biterphobia” when he was underground with Soul Intent back in 1995 and “Rap God” came out before Speedom so as much as I’d love for yall to take credit for his fast rapping, my man’s been doing it for 30 years😂
I was looking for the “Biterphobia” comment lol 👍 Eminem started out thinking that if you could rap fast, you were dope. He toned it down from Infinite on.

Yeah but when he got signed he stopped rapping fast. It wasn't until Rap God when most people heard him rapping fast for the first time. Then it wasn't until Kamaikaze came out that Em started rapping fast on a regular basis.
Yeah. He started rapping fast. When he got into the industry, essentially he was "forced" to slow it down. He is back to rapping fast now because a) who the hell is gonna tell him not to with as big as he is, and b) fast rapping has become not only acceptable but embraced by enough consumers to create a solid market for it. Anyone who has a search engine and 5 minutes can find old recordings of him before he toned down the speed. Very fast. Not necessarily as nice to listen to, he has grown a lot with his fast flows, but the old pre-break stuff is out there to be found.
I was so glad to hear Eminem become a legit chopper . I would like to think when you and Tech were doing your thang together putting choppers on the forefront that that had some influence on him to use that style. I dont know. But I know I heard Em listens to all of you guys. Much love .
Maybe it's because when he did speedom with em, he didn't hear rap god, I'm sure he has heard it since than, but him saying he never heard em rap that fast until he did speedom with him, is not him lying or anything, thats his experience, he prob didnt hear rap god to know em could rap fast, so speedom is his first experience with ems speed.
