  • 12 hour smoothed brown noise for sleep and focus, made from my wind recordings of a winter tree in Shoeburyness, Essex, UK. I used contact microphones and Sennheiser mkh ms stereo microphones. I believe that using nature as the source for ambient noise makes for a more fulfilling and soothing listening experience than typical brown noise, which is just a digital random noise signal.
If you listen through headphones, you may notice the sound warping and ducking in the way wind does, but only slightly, as I have taken care to remove anything that could be distracting, as the purpose of this video is to improve your ability to sleep or focus.
Brown noise is a deep sounding alternative to white noise, which can help in many scenarios by masking intrusive external noise. It can help with focus and study, with relaxation and meditation, with adult insomnia, and for parents it can help your baby sleep.
As a professional sound recordist of 10 years, I have collected some good nature sounds of waterfalls, rain, ocean, wind, rivers, streams, and more. I’m looking to utilise these in many more videos to come, so do subscribe to stay updated.
