Beautiful dancing, beautiful demonstration. But why does everyone look so solemn? In my experience, Scottish country dancing is a joyful experience and even the more sedate dances performed with a smile.
I have been at the Kirk, St. Columba's, Pont Street, a couple of times while in London and enjoyed the experience. Many years siince I first heard of the Scottish Dancing in the Kirk Halls. Thank you. Charlie, Aberdeen
Not at all. The mother of all square dances is the French contredanse for eight, which was indebted to English country dancing. All cotillions, quadrilles, and square dances derive from French tradition.

I didn't realize at first that this is a medley. This has to be an advance-level dance. Great job, lads and lassies.
Realized this after I’d made my initial comment.

So, tell me that Scottish dancing is the mother of American square dancing without telling me.

Great dancing, but why are those lovely ladies in funereal black!! - a bit more Scottish colour on your girls would be more than welcome
UPsss... Black does not means FUNERAL every time it is use. Is an elegant color and they all had tartans godets in their dresses.
