Cheers Peter, yeah you gotta checkout this lake with your kayak and try some jigging. It's ideal for kayak fishing and so much nicer than Lake Rotorua.
So relaxing watching this video. I really liked your rig too with the flies. I've been fishing saltwater all of my life (in Australia). I really struggle here to catch trout. I have a fly rod but haven't caught anything on it. I have caught a couple of trout on my spin rod with plastics and hardbody lures but it is so rare. I'm down in Dunedin. Hopefully you guys come down this way. I really like your boat too. I'm in the market for this type of boat. Love to hear more about it.
Thanks Tim, appreciate the comment. How long you're in Dunedin for? It's actually a great place for trout fishing. Maybe the season hasn't really kicked in yet. We are planning to head down there this summer.
Yeah absolutely, it does feel a bit like those awesome lakes on the South Island. This lake and also lake Tarawera are our absolute favourites up on the North Island. Some of the Taupo lakes would make a close second but due to the separate license requirements we prefer the Rotorua lakes.
How do you fish with flies with that rod? Seems like you didn't use a float or anything. Can you please let me know? You inspired me getting the aircat 😊
Hey mate, the fly rod I was using on that day was a little heavy. But I just used streamer flies. So don't need a float. Some nymphs under a float would have possibly worked better. Yeah the aricat has been pretty good. I had mine now for over a year and still very happy with it.
@@Fishingreminder Great! I'm thinking of getting the 285 though. Okay why are nymphs better.. I heard it's not easy to fish them.. i only have a regular fishing rod and will be fishing for trout off of my boat as well 😁
Beautiful trout fishing shots.
Glad you enjoyed
Beautiful drone shots 👌
