Joker: Folie à Deux | Movie Review

The sequel to 2019’s wildly successful Joker film is out now. But why? Also heads up that I go into heavy spoilers around the 7:45 mark so end the video there if you haven’t seen the movie.
Joker: Folie à Deux is a 2024 American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Loosely based on DC Comics characters, it is the sequel to Joker (2019) and stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the titular character, with Lady Gaga joining as his love interest Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role from the previous film, while Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener join the cast. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Joint Effort.

My first thought when they announced the sequel was that there was no need for a sequel because the first movie was a perfect standalone. The only scene I didn’t like in the original was that sixth sense scene.
I’ll probably still watch joker 2 in theaters but at least my expectations are tempered.

@@DouglasCarter69 yes. Original was good on its own, telling its own story. I guess Todd Philips also wasn’t sure how to progress the Arthur character so he went backwards 🥴
