    We visited the Krazy Lobster in December during our cruise on Norwegian. Spent the entire day there and enjoyed our time. Food was good and the drinks were excellent and inexpensive.

    Apparently there is a scam going around with taxi drivers selling tickets for cash and dropping you off somewhere else that does not accept your worthless tickets. Tell the driver to take you to the place you agreed on and don't let him sell you tickets for anything. Thank you for this vid. I have had poor results from visits to ports in this area. But this place looks nice.

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  8 місяців тому

      Great advice! Do you know if the scam is happening online or at the port? We went straight to where the taxi pick up was at, inside the port fence, and talked about taxi fees before stepping inside. What were the ports that gave you the poor results, so I can keep in mind, for my family’s safety?

    Krazy lobster has two price menus ...the spanish menu in pesos is cheaper than the english menu in USD. Example-the shrimp soup aka caldo de camarón is 16 USD but on the spanish menu its 190 pesos which with current exchange rate is about 10 USD . So bring pesos and tell them you want ro pay in pesos.
    As for massages tell them you want a massage for 20 USD rhats all you'll pay and they'll most likely give it to you. My ex girlfriend is a masseuse at Krazy lobster and that was their strategy to charge 30 per hour but will go down to 20 if asked. Also, they tell you one hour but she'll only give you 45 minutes to get you out and move other customers in faster. Definitely lay in cash otherwise theylly charge a 15 % commission to use the card machine.
    As for the Coronita beer it is corona just in smaller 7 ounce bottle. Coronita means little crown - little corona

      Thank you for all this! Such good info! I’d have to look into the peso menu and see if there are an money exchange businesses near that area. Thank you for clarifying the Cornita translation. You can obviously tell I have no Spanish in my family 😅
      Do you happen to know if the massage types they advertise are the same? For instance, if their deep tissue is the same as a regular massage? 🤪

    • @garycastronova7939
      @garycastronova7939 Рік тому +1

      @@ahoymommy Hi there..no problema. The massage for 20 USD is only relaxing massage ..a light touch. . I forgot what she charges for deep tissue i think the cheapest she and her coworkers charge for deep tissue is 30 or 35 USD if you ask for it at that price otherwise it's 40 or 45 USD. Swedish massage is medium pressure and priced in between. Pretty much all the massage tables along the beachfront charge the same prices, as there's so much competition. Also, she usually gave discounts for couples massage or a party of two or more. But yes it depends on how slow it is.
      Also, there is an exchange place a couple of blocks up'the malecón from Krazy lobster just ask your taxi driver to take you there.

    If you bring a snorkel mask, is the beach good for that or do you really need to get outside of the netted area and/or buy the snorkel tour to get good views of local fish?

    Our cruise is in a few weeks. What is the minimum required to spend on food and drinks?

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  Рік тому +1

      There is no minimum. Krazy Lobster does not say you have to buy food or drink. We just did it out of courtesy but our total was $9, $5 for beers and $4 fries for the kids.
      Tipsy Turtle did say it was free with purchase of food or drink but they didn’t say what their minimum was.
      Also have fun and try out the kayaks for me! I would love to know what y’all think of it! We won’t go back until December.

    Did you feel safe? We are going in July and I’m not sure if we should just stay inside the port area. We are there from 7-2pm. So nervous about looking for a cab. How far of a drive is it? Thanks I love your videos!! Water looks clear the day you were there, I seen some videos where the water looks awful.

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  8 місяців тому

      I felt pretty safe there. The cab drive was just 10 minutes. We just took the cab that went inside the port gates. If you have never been to Costa Maya, there is just one port. That port address is Av. P.º del Puerto, 77976 Mahahual, Q.R., Mexico and Krazy Lobster’s address is:
      C. Huauchinango 28, 77940 Mahahual, Q.R., Mexico
      If I were to be at port from 7-2pm, then I would stay in the port as well. The kids are happy with the swimming pools and checking out the dolphins and flamingos too.

    So when you took the taxi to Krazy Lobster it seems that you just held your children in your laps. Do they have seat belts and if not did your driver drive safely where you didn't have a heart attack holding your kiddos? Just wondering. ... we will have a six, seven and 10 month old with us on our trip. Thanks so much.

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  5 місяців тому

      I usually hold my youngest and my oldest and I wear a seat belt. When I step into the taxi. I always ask the driver to drive slower and not brake so hard bc my daughter has motion sickness. She will throw up in the car if they don’t drive so well. So far there has been no accidents in the car because of my warning.

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  Рік тому

      My toddler likes to walk, so an umbrella stroller was good for us. My husband did have to fold it up and put it in the taxi. But if a wagon is better for your family, definitely bring that instead. Bring what is comfortable for you.

    Hi @ahoymommy!, did you need to bring and put your kids in car seats when taking the cab?

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  9 місяців тому +1

      Unfortunately, we did not bring car seats in the cab. We just let them sit in our laps. We tell all our drivers in advance to drive slower since we have kids and to stop and go slowly since my daughter can get motion sickness and throw up in the car. When the drivers hear that part, they are better drivers I think 😅 Nobody ever wants to clean up vomit and have to endure the smell 🫠

    Great video. We will be going there this summer.
    I had a question about sea sickness and medication you gave your kids. I have a 3 and 8 year old. Was thinking about given them Dramamine. Any thoughts on this?

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  7 місяців тому +1

      My daughter actually did get sea sick on this cruise. I didn’t give her any preventive medicine but she can get car sick if our turns are too fast or there is a lot of stop and go traffic.
      My son has never been sea sick but for my daughter, I do give her kid’s Dramamine and a motion sickness bracelet. She has been on 2 cruises after this video and I got her to wear them to “match mommy’s bracelet” amzn.to/3UCkxvY
      I think if your kiddos get car sick or motion sickness from roller coasters, they will most likely feel something on the ship too. I get motion sickness from roller coasters but still love em.
      When my daughter got motion sickness on this cruise, the crew recommended her to drink apple juice. She did drink a little bit of it and she immediately threw up after. Only after that, she felt better. I got the apple juice for free from the bar when I told them my daughter was feeling motion sickness.

    Did you pay the taxi drivers and Krazy Lobster food/drink with U.S. dollars cash? If so, do the taxi drivers have change?
    Did you feel comfortable using your debit/credit card at the Krazy Lobster if you used it at all?
    We are going there in July...
    Thanks in advance!

    • @ahoymommy
      @ahoymommy  8 місяців тому

      We used cash for Krazy Lobster and taxi drivers. We carried a lot of $1 bills bc we don’t know if taxi drivers carry change. We didn’t want to hear them say they had no change and keep our money.
      We carried a credit card for emergencies but didn’t use it. I would not use a debit card but a credit card if you ever need to dispute any charges.
