Thanks for the review and greate video! But I'll probably skip this set. Just like the sets of the last few years. A tip from me: Buy the 42110 and 42099 and upgrade the Landrover with RC and planetary gears. Instruction for this are here on UA-cam. Seems like much more fun to play with.
Yep. That will outperform this everyday. For me the appeal of this set is building it yourself to understand how the mechanisms work and also to mod it to oblivion to increase performance 👍
I have an RC for bashing that outperforms any lego RC set that has ever been released combined but for a crawler I easily could see myself using a lego one. It's just more fun this way, building it, upgrading and rebuilding again for even more upgrades. Crawlers aren't meant to be super sturdy or have insane speed, exactly what lego can deliver. Will a normal crawler RC beat even the best lego construction? Sure. But will the RC owner have as much fun as the lego guy who built a custom truck and upgraded it's performance 100s of times? I'd love to see a segment with "interesting parts", like rare or very old parts, that we haven't seen in a long time. Wait what, Ackermann steering, and locking diffs? Never seen that on a LEGO set. 27:32 😂
Hey sariel long time fan here, do you see any interesting uses for the new parts in mocs? I'm curious about how useful the new beams with alternating holes will be structurally. I think it's obvious that the new CV joint is going to be useful in suspension systems, but the new beams are interesting. I've seen stuff like that in knockoff sets which intrigued me, but it's nice to see Lego experiment with such basic parts like that. Also, are there any new parts or improvements to old parts you'd like to see Lego to make in the future? Thanks, again an old fan here. I must have watched you for about 10 years or more.
As usual , the big RC car sets always get a negative final note/scores 🤔😀 so lego needs to make a RC 4x4 vehicle in the future which performs like a beast
Actually more impressive TBA than I was expecting with the Ackermann steering and remotely locking diff. I think the 6×6 prototype would have made it too similar to the Azure Tow Truck a few years ago. PS @Sariel: I've been watching since your own Trial Truck days and was wondering if they still happen? I'm sure 10 years of improved pieces, motors and controllability would make it very different!
So many small improvements to be made... Might as well start over 😂 Although I would be much happier with a bit lighter a pricetag; PU being expensive will always be a constant though, I guess. 7/10
It seems that the truck was initially developped as a 6x6, after that it became 4x4 without shortening the wheelbase, strange. And why not using portal axles (front) for more ground-clearance. The big radius in steering is a shame. It needs a lot of modifications to get acceptable.
