Never Just Replace a Blown Fuse - Must Watch
Вставка

- In this video I'll explain why you never want to just simply remove and replace a blown fuse, how it could lead to burned wires, damaged components inside the circuit or worse an electrical fire. I'll also show you how to check for and find a short to ground using nothing but a test light.

I just ran into this with my mom’s car. Blown fuel pump fuse. 1st shop replaced and said sometimes they just blow. 140 dollars. Took it to dealership, after a week they got to see the pump with power not running. A stalled motor draws more amps because no counter emf to resist impressed power. 1000 dollars and fixed for real. She’s in her 80s and can’t mess around in below freezing temps with a non running vehicle. Fuses only blow because the circuit is drawing too much current.
As usual, such valuable information 👍👍👍👍(I'll probably have to watch this again couple times to get it right but this is just what I need)
glad it was helpful.
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing this with us.
Glad you like them!
some nice tips in there
I tell my coworkers never just replace the fuse troubleshoot it. But they like to say ' I did the fuse is blown🤦♂️ '
ha yea thats asking for trouble.
@@myRatchets that's were I come in after they put a 30A where a 5A went or current limiting, fast acting or slow blow never getting it right...
Nice video❤
You are amazing bro !
No, You are m friend :)
Still remember how 3 years ago I found an electrical issue in my c6 Corvette...problem was after an accident I got hit by my side (driver side) right on the rear quarter panel which is the side that has the Sirius XM box alone with OnStar both functions inside the same device, after not having radio functions I decided to remove the radio and have it checked, replaced the radio fuse which was blown and yes radio worked for two days after that period of time I had no more radio signal and the electrical functions in my car stopped working...every single thing was completely dead, problem was the radio and OnStar box had a short circuit and all the wires got melted with the rest of the main wiring harness so every time I replaced the wires it melted again and again...I traced the wire that was getting hot after 5 seconds of starting the car and realized that a single shitty box that I don't need was the cause of the whole car issue ...removed the box..replaced the burnt wires and no more issues...I even remember I was replacing the 15 amp fuse for a 25 one ,,so my advice is.. instead of just replacing fuses or relays find the source of those getting blown ...thumbs up for you sir... I'm a loyal subscriber cause you really know your stuff you are a school made person,, happy new year
Stoked you're back in force :) Really valuable content, too.
How are the trees going?
Really think you naid the explanation. Thank you, good luck with that mess, I thought making a new wiring harness with better wire would be advisable.
Glad you liked it
Good vid
thanks

Great job, usually I just keep replacing fuse with a larger one until it stops popping 🤣 haha just kidding! Look forward to seeing the rest of this one or did you just tackle off camera? 💕👍
having this sort of issue in my LS400 but for the HVAC "heater" circuit and i have no idea where to start... damn
question what happens if my fuse will not blow but burn and smokes i pull fuse and it stop i though it was my hid box or blubs because the lights would flicker but i replace the hid box and wireing from hid box to light. bulbs and bulbs as well i though the hole system was bad so i removed replace in all it till doing it burning in the same fuse i replace burn fuse to test and i cant put the battery on as soon as i connect battery light come on with switch off and continue to burn same fuse and smoke WHAT AM I MISSING
how come the owner did not smell all that wire burning ,cause normaly you smell that when wires overheat and melt there is smoke

🍪🍪🍪 Arkansas cookies bless your soul🥰
I bet you find some crazy stuff that people have done to these cars
Not enough views on this, need to show it at my dealership
Somebody used to pop fuses in their car back in the day. I forgot who. 😄⚡👀
lol
The factory fuse is labeled as a thermal breaker on the diagram. It should automatically reset after it trips. Is it even bad? Did someone bypass it with a fuse just because it kept tripping?
I didn't get it on camera but it was bad.

Fuses are there to prevent fire.
I totally called it! Well... 40% called it 😉
Never replace with a higher watt 😢
thats right
Amp, not watt
@@timd1833 oops 😬
Technically as its 12vdc as a constant... higher watts is higher amps 😉
Good explanation. The Jag has always been a poor quality car. The owner should get a Toyota.
Scotty?
@@myRatchets Nope, but he's right about Toyoytas.....lol
Bullshit! I repair Toyota's regularly in my welding workshop. Toyota use CHEAP JUNK STEEL, cheap junk plastic and cheap naty switches. Their designs, awful cars to look at, ride in and drive. They might have an edge on reliability, but they are cheap throw away cars. I don't know ANYONE that would want to but an old Toyota to preserve or just enjoy. People love Jags and then people like you hate them!
1. Immediately pull off the Interstate. 2. Have car towed to the dealer. 3. Call a cab. 4. Get a Hotel room. 5. Rent a car for a couple days. 6. Pay them to replace the fuse and send it on its way. If that new fuse doesn’t blow, they’re not going to tear down your car only to find out it was an overload and not a short.
If a fuse blows, replace it with a high rated fuse 😅
