NOTE: M4 Geekbench scores according to Mashable
Single-core: 3,764
Multi-core: 14,586
9 Core is same single core performance and ~13,435 multi-core. Still smokes my M1 macbook pro with 10 core M1 Pro...... 3:32 ua-cam.com/video/u00ch0BTKHE/v-deo.html

I bought this iPad Pro 11" because I wanted OLED. Better screens are my priority.
💯
same but 13
Yeah i wanna get one for OLED display too
iPad 13 inch was delivered on Wednesday. The display is beautiful and well worth the upgrade. Speed has greatly improved. That this iPad is lightweight is a bonus. Apple hit a home run with this iPad. Bravo!
Just ordered mine through my Spectrum Mobile 13inch for my 50th Bday today! Lets Goooo! :) so stoked!
Happy birthday!
Damn unc
happy birthday 🥳 sometimes we have to treat ourselves cause we’ve earned it
Happy birthday
great job as always Dan. Concise and professional video.
I appreciate the focus and simplicity of iPadOS. Not everyone can pull it off, but it’s working great for me since 2018.
I wish other's would get this and stop asking for the iPad to get macOS
Agreed. And I feel iPadOS and iOS are less prone to malware than macOS because they are restricted and closed - more so than macOS?!
Excellent video!
Thanks for review 😀
I just picked mine up at the Apple Store. Gotta love Space Black!
I went with the M2 iPad 11 inch even though the OLED didn’t happen. Super happy to see the OLED now available. I’ve started video editing and kicking myself I didn’t get more memory. Looking realllllly hard at this latest one. Very happy with your first impressions. Oh and your family is super cute. I couldn’t hear ‘Daddy!’ but I could feel it. ❤❤❤❤ Love your video Del. Keep it up.
I’m definitely getting the new 13” now after many years of using the the 2016 model (until now). The Pencil pro and the keyboard are a must have for my work as well. The only downside is the hefty price especially with the 1 terabyte model.
Yes get the 1 tb model because it has double the ram and an additional performance core It’s going to be a huge upgrade. I’m also going for the 1tb model
@@Progamer8012 Yes and thanks, I was kinda aware of it. I'm mainly gonna use it for design and illustration purposes and those apps are on the intensive side of things. Now the bundle cost with taxes and Apple care is close to $2800! Ouch!
My 13 should be here tomorrow, as a creative I have to say that yeah, there are some Mac OS Apps that would be "nice to have" but for me I really just want them to fix one major issue and that is allowing stage manager to multi task so I can run uploads, rendering etc in the background while I am off doing something else...oh yeah and Xcode for iPad would be pretty sweet...
I got an anti-glare screen protector no need for nano texture, and I have an external camera (which works with m1 ipads).
I need to go check on my 12.9 iPad Pro but I think the Magic Keyboard had an angle to it when close or something weird. This one closes perfectly flat now thank god
Of course it is beautiful!
The iPad Pro, at least the 11 inch, the display corners have a greater radius compared to prior years version. That means more of the content in the corners are cropped. What is up with that?
One thing I noticed was not mentioned in this video is that ontop of the 1 and 2 terabyte models offering the nano screen thing they also have a lot more ram and slightly better m4 chips so for some people that need it that will help to justify the extra cost
What is the screen like after longer use? I use my ipad Pro 2020 11 inch, which is LCD for work and leisure.
Emails, Teams, Excel, Word, movies, TV shows, procreate, and gaming. All combined, like 3 plus hours per day. Does the oled 1000 nits of brightness hurt your eyes??
Looks rad
Honestly I can do without Mac OS.. my only wish would be if Apple could fix the external drives file management.. I think it needs more work and some type of progress bar for when you’re saving pictures and files.. other than that iPad OS already has some Big Mac OS software that it’s been moved to the iPad …🤷🏻♂️
..WHY no mention of the return of the EARPHONE jack..? Have BOTH, earphone and wireless for headphones! Also, 120HZ refresh, laminated screen, bigger battery, and I would like the SILVER color for the Ipad Air ..the original color was SILVER..! Any feedback..?
I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t mind iPadOS on the iPad bc I have my MacBook to use MacOS. I use the iPad Pro mainly for work, content streaming, and gaming (PUBG and Call of Duty) so I don’t need MacOS for that and neither would I want to use MacOS for these tasks. I prefer the iPad apps since they run more smoothly than a desktop browser. As for the price point, if the iPad Pro price is too expensive for some, then there’s always the iPad Air or iPad Mini which are great devices. As for me, I upgraded from the M1 to the 2024 M4 13 inch for these reasons: OLED screen, updated Magic Keyboard with function keys and aluminum palm rest, and M4 chip so that I can use this for the next 3-5 years. 2 days in, I’m loving it.
Just got my M4 iPad 13’’… I have been waiting years to upgrade my M1 iPad and honestly I love this thing to death PLUS this is the first Magic Keyboard attachment I’ve gotten and even as I am typing on it right now I am floored by how impressive this entire package is. Trading away my iPad M1 helped with the price too.
What was wrong with the M1 ipad ?
How could you be waiting years when it’s only 3 years since it was released? Total waste of money to upgrade as the screen quality is almost identical?
Fair that you don’t care about the camera, but it is useful for scanning and the occasional snapshot when you’re already holding the thing.
I like these type of rumors.
I can’t stress this enough, iPad Pro with Apple Pencil was a game changer for college.
I thought Apple’s thinnest product ever was the polishing cloth 🤔
😂
No it was the bendable iPhone 6 😂
Apple sticker! But now you don’t get them on the iPad Pro boxes.
I just bought a 12.9" M1 2TB cellular iPad Pro for $900 and I've never felt more validated. Love it.
Insane price! Nice buy.
@@nickbitlee Right? 99% of users would be just fine with an M1-series iPad Pro. Still has ProMotion, Center Stage, Thunderbolt, the list goes on. They are much cheaper now.
The upgrades are worth the price. OLED display, M4 chip, Apple Pencil Pro, Camera scanning feature and front facing camera are notable features for me. And don’t forget that USB-C Thunderbolt port which other Tablets do not have. Do I want MacOS? Not really. I can do most of my work with an IPAD. And if I need more, I use JUMP Remote to connect to a PC or Mac. A magical thin sheet that can do all!
Anyone kinda bothered that the back of the new magic keyboard’s hinge doesn’t have that covering part on the back that the first one has? Feels like it’s missing a piece
You don't need the keyboad and other bluetooth keyboards will work. I'm tempted to buy one though... depends what WWDC says
Normal front camera? I thought we’d finally get the same camera the iPhone pro has on the front, is that not true????
I have 2018 11” it works like new lol with 64 gigs
Do you store everything on iCloud?
Just contacts and messages and some other minor stuff! No media! Using iPad for browsing internet and some social networking! I store everything on Mac
@@pasharodionov1806 same, I have 2020 ipad and I don't know if I will ever buy another iPad. I use it to consume media so more than enough.
My 2020 Air with 64 gb is fine, but I’ll be trading it in at the Apple Store for the new 11 Air. For the difference in cost I get a new battery, double the storage, and a better camera placement. I’ll only do a trade in at the Apple Store or Best Buy. I won’t trust mailing it in. and being told I’m not getting the advertised trade value. Or worse, being told it has no value and it’s not returned. With no trade in, I would buy it at Costco.
Why is every single review only showing the 13” model?
Can’t wait for apple to bring these technology (tandem OLED) to the iPhone and studio display 🙂
worried theres no other place to go next with ipad pro. For pro products, I'd prefer more features and an Air product can be the thinnest and lightest. Any thinner and lighter they will have to lose the USB-C, so I am unclear where the product goes from here esp with the many deletions this round from the M2 pro
Upgrading from the Air 4 to a 13" 256 GB.... I suspect the leap is gonna be a little bit huge lol
I have never purchased a keyboard for any of my iPads I got a Macnook and Studio for that. I use my iPads as tablets not as laptops.
I have and when I switch to my laptop I find myself touching the screen and realize I am not on the iPad - the ability to use touch and the keyboard is a unique experience - Also I find the keyboard helps for when you get tired of holding up the iPad - just rest it on your lap like a laptop. They are expensive however and it sucks that people bought them for the M2 and if they upgrade they need to get a new iPad keyboard.
They gotta take the camera away to bring it back as a feature next year with spatial shooting
I played with it at the Apple Store today. It’s pretty, hella thin and light, and the screen is very snappy. I really liked the new Magic Keyboard, and the Apple Pencil Pro was the best part of the whole thing for me. However, I need to see where Apple decides to take this thing with regards to iPadOS before I decide to upgrade to this thing; I have the M1 12.9 iPad Pro, and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what this machine can do thanks to the limitations of iPadOS. Kinda bonkers Apple, to this day, hobbles their own hardware with a clunky OS.
It's a nice device, but what I absolutely hate about it:
Like some other of the newer devices, it lacks the option in Settings > Sound > Fixed Position Volume Controls to hardwire the volume control buttons, so that no matter the device orientation the same volume button is responsible for turning the volume up respectively down.
Instead the volume button function changes with the orientation of the iPad, which destroys the association of the button with its function for me, which all the older models have had as a default.
If you keep it portrait then it’s the traditional way and when landscape it gets inverted, and it's different for each of the two portrait and the two landscape modes as well.
11” rules. I just replaced my 12.9” M1 iPad Pro and it’s so compact and lightweight. I have a 14” M1 Pro MacBook Pro, so I don’t need a 13” iPad Pro.
11 Inch speakers are way worse. I returned my 11 Inch M4 Pro
The display is the biggest difference to me so far. Have been using an iPad Air that’s almost 7yrs old & this feels like a nice bump up.
Does it have PWM/ flickering ?
Yes it does
@@Shawshank00 thanks . Do you know if the 13 inch iPad Air has PWM?
@@heidicelestino8907 NO - that's a LCD model
I think the UA-cam TheTechChap covers this aspect in his review
9th generation iPad. Web browsing: check. Email: check. Messaging: check. UA-cam: check. Banking: check. Etc: check.
Incredible cosmic Netflix viewing power
It’s essentially 50% more powerful overall than the M1 which is to say, great. Mostly I create music on the iPad Pro M1 and definitely would look to jump to an M4, where previously there was nothing sufficient to tempt me. I subscribe to the view, you can never have too fast a processor or too much power/SSD/RAM etc. This fits with modern music creation, because software instruments when they glitch are useless, and that is mostly processor and RAM dependent but also free SSD space is vital, like 100Gb free space. Hence, if you make music or video, unless you have a great additional HDD off-iPad storage system cobbled together, less than a Terabyte of SSD is potentially painful. For instance, I’d rule out 256Gb SSD without qualms, and 512Gb is a ceiling too. But, not everyone works the way I work, making numerous backups of big files as I go along, fills up the space. I go back and delete the bulk of them, but it’s about a Gigabyte per song. Good review, take care all, do you.
At this point just me run macOS on it.
I just wish it used the standard 16:10 aspect ratio like the MacBooks. So much wasted real estate when watching content.
I think the iPad Air makes more sense for most users - not sure who the true audience for this extremely pricey new pro model is, but the value proposition is very dubious
I love my new iPad Pro, especially how light it is, but I have to be honest: I can barely tell a difference between the OLED screen and an LCD screen. I was disappointed by that.
🤔
Not much difference between the mini led than the oled.
Yeah I still have my 1phoneX and my iPad 12.9 pro 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Same but I switched to 15 plus this week.
Hot take: I don't want macOS on my iPad. I like iPadOS. There are certainly plenty of things they can improve on, as well as add to iPadOS, but I much prefer the look and feel of it over macOS. If they ever put macOS on the iPad without the ability to opt out (and just use iPadOS) I would probably switch to a different device
Got my 13” with nano tech glass and am returning it. The OLED with this glass is just not as good as my M2. Was really disappointed in the poor colors-the true black is not evident, and on this model my M2 had much deeper colors.
You gotta go with glossy, it's excellent.
A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own modern smart phones??!!
Not as beautiful as the tab s9 for media consumption! Kudos to you for mentioning the tabs9 though! Not many youtubers have.
I’ll be doing a comparison very soon!
@@macrumors awesome! Looking forward to it!
Mac OS & iPad os should be merged. The iPad should be a full computer
“People are worried that it could break because it’s so thin… Don’t worry about it, it’s very unlikely… BUT it could definitely happen, it’s very thin, so be careful.” 😂 This comment made my day
I love iPad and I think that is the most beautiful and futuristic product made from Apple.
The only problem in the iPad is the software. We need the possibility to install virtual machines, to have a real file system, a desktop mode when the device is connected to a monitor and full applications.
In that case all people coud use the iPad for working and for fun, as I would do.
So it's more powerful than an Macbook Pro, but it's limited by a mobile OS, let's face it it's Ios on steroids. I have the previous iPad pro but none of these features make me want to upgrade unless at WWDC they put MacOS on it.
Without a "for work/business" OS what is it good for with all this performance and at this price?
11인치 키보드 배열이 이상해서 타자 치는게 불편했음
Amazing but expensive
Agreed
this ipad should have came out with m1 ipad
People put it in there bed and fall asleep with it next to them and significant other rolls over on it and it bends, talking about older iPads so new one will really bend if dropped funny or sat or layed on
It’s the same
Add macOS then we’ll talk.
Great video. That said, iPad OS is pretty terrible, way too limited for something this expensive
Samsung’s definitely have better screens IMO, at least with the Oled phones
A curious question: Are there people over eighty years of age who are very elderly people who own modern smart phones??!
No comment on whether the Apple Pencil feels different on this glass. (assumption - no mention / difference) In fact Dan admits beyond the review the pencil goes back in the box. The fact that paper like is still bandaging the shortcomings of the glass experience tells you Apple is not serious about fixing this since they put no resources to even improve the nib. I can buy a nib off Amazon that is much better than the stock pencil nib. This is an example where details matter to serious users of pencils on digital glass. No comment on whether the paper-like dulls the oled experience. (It does). So why give us vibrant screens that get dulled by the bandaid to make the pencil work better. And this is my major complaint - Apple does not improve the writing experience. There are many people that have moved to different devices to do serious writing (Remarkable) - They use Wacom tablets with their computers to do illustration since iPad Pros do not run the full version of photoshop, Illustrator or Lightroom. This feels like a commercial and not talking about the true context of the shortcomings of the iPad Pro. Spec bumps are not fixing the lack of serious software support or the experience of using the pencil. There is a lot that Dan refuses to cover and fails to mention. Why is that? I still like my iPad Pro. My assumption is that Apple reviews the data that show only 1% of people use their pencils for more than 1% of the time spent on the iPad so they need not worry about their market - which is why the minority complain - I review the comments and I am basically alone on this issue.
Yeah it’s very thin but anyone worrying about bending it is being precious. The truth is it’s only marginally thinner than the existing iPad Pro and that is not a concern at all
Just buy a 2018
Just insane to go that thin on a pro device that doesn’t even get a full work day of life
Too expensive. And you have to buy all the accessories again. Opted for the M1 iPad Pro instead (coming from 2018). And i get to use my old pencil.
The reason I didn’t buy it, and I have bought every single one of the iterations when they first released, is because of a comment i saw on Reddit where a guy said he bought the best iPad that worked with the software, for the money.
He had a headset jack in his new iPad Pro 2017 model.
That’s fucking sad.
For audio professionals, the lack of that mattered.
They have a powerful device and they just put the software on it just to stop it.
gray keyboard with white keys is ugly
Why doesn’t Apple make oled TVs
Apple doesn’t make their own screens on their macs, iPads or iPhones. Samsung does all of that
@@disastermaster1413 makes sense thanks man
Great hardware. Very dull software.
Aloooooooooominum
too big
the AI buzzword is idiotic. Is it going to recommend what to watch on Apple TV 😂
Paying the price of a Macbook Pro, for something akin to a Macbook Pro, but without the MacOS...yeah, no thanks.
Do it
Steve Jobs hates this -- fyi for all
You look like the wish version of Mike stoklasa
$2000 to watch UA-cam. Great hardware, weak software.
You are totally wrong. Ipad= Gaming, watching videos, note taking and sketching in a mobile factor. M4 chip is just a bonus for gaming and additional video processing power. If you need macOS go buy macbook.
That was true years ago. It’s hasn’t been true for a long time.
@@djstuc doesn’t matter. I already have M3 Macbook pro for it.
I use mine every day for my self-employed job (I’m an illustrator and animator) and it’s still cheaper and more convenient to the alternative hardware I paid for and used prior. While you personally can’t find extensive use for it not every piece of hardware is made for everyone.
Still better than the blown up phone apps and non pro Apps on Android tablets
Why is someone like this reviewing the iPad? This guy obviously only likes to use a laptop. Maybe get someone who likes to use an iPad to review it? Garbage review.
iPad os sucks, Mac OS is the only solution
MaOS is not for ipads. If Apple brings MacOS to IPad it will kill its own Macbook lineup.
A hybrid of the two would probably be best with some time of compatibility layer.
So get a MacBook
Great hardware. Very dull software.
