- Ah yes lagoona. She’s pink now. Love that. No truly do LOL Anyway we’re looking at lagoonas new core doll for G3! I hope you read this in a an Australian accent (even tho she’s no longer Australian)

I miss the webbed fingers. I’m hoping that they eventually add that later, like what they did with G1 Clawdeen switching her from human hands to the clawed hands.
i think they made her fingers not webbed so that she could hold her accessories easier!:)

@@cosyken Thats reasonable, but honestly I would have been satisfied with a cheap material that moves so accesorries would fit. Tho I do like the scales.
Kids these days are into bright colors. The cross section surveyed by Mattel preferred the pink doll over the blue one. Some of the other doll UA-camrs were invited to Mattel headquarters and they were told all about why the company made the decisions they did about the dolls. At the end of the day it's all about what appeals to kids. They're still going to continue to do things with the G1 line in the future. I think the new Lagoona is cute but it did take me a little while to get used to her. I'll say this though: when I went looking for G3 dolls at a local Target last week, Lagoona was the only one that was sold out (until I bought the last Draculaura that is).

I may not have any of the dolls, but I like the combo of mostly coral pink and the azure skin tones 🤔 Just wish they’d make the bluish freckles and forehead scales equally noticeable.

Lagoona was the first G3 I chose to purchase specifically because she is really a different character. Her design is totally different, her personality is totally different, her background is totally different- the only thing she really truly has in common with Lagoona is her name and species. If I were to be in charge of the next Monster High reboot, I'd honestly just have both of them coexist as two separate characters, I even came up with a name for her: Mariana Peixes. Mariana is both a reference to mar (sea in Spanish) and to mariana's trench, while peixes is fishes in Portuguese, both names being of latin American origin just like her.
She has the same story of a sporty exchange student, she's just Honduran rather than Australian.
Honestly, keeping her actual origin story the same is good, even if the rest of her changed.
I really like this doll and her character. It's just that she is so different from the OG that I don't think my brain will actually ever accept her as "Lagoona Blue."

G3 is just an alternate universe, these things happen all the time with different gens, each gen of my little pony has been massively different. They may have made this lagoons into a new character but they have the rights to her name so they want to keep using it. there are tons of Peter Parker’s that are vastly different though they are still technically the same person.
Me too I love the character and I’m okay with most of the changes they did make to the character but it’s gonna take a lot of adjustment to get used to the pink skin tone. She just doesn’t look like a monster like in g1 she looked like a monster the blue fishy skin and those big yellow eyes. Now she’s a pink bubbly monster, when I first saw it i though she looked like one of those “monsters” you’d see in like a Barbie movie, the monster everyone fears but is actually really nice
@@sofia7816 it’s funny cause i think this lagoona is a little more blood thirsty and has rows of needle sharp teeth. Kinda wish they painted fangs on her face. I just feel like this lagoona would blend in with her surroundings of coral and vibrant sea life more than og lagoona. Based on her bio she grew up in isolation and only read fairy tails and watched telenovellas to teach her how to live with other people. I display her surrounded by bones of her latest hunt. :P
@@jiggerblayne Yeah but every version of the same character in MLP at least has one trait in common besides their name. G3 and G4 Rainbow Dashes may be completely different in personality but they're still azure ponies with rainbow hair and cutie marks.
I'm pretty sure her name references the Creature from the Black Lagoon(what Garrett intended her father to be before finding out that it's trademarked) & the Blue Lagoon(an obscure movie that got remade a few times actually).
I prefer Piranha Neptuna, I don't like how Littlest Pet Shop the new pets look.

I love the G1 Lagoona design, but this new doll is super cute. She looks a bit to me like if Ariana Grande were part fish…probably the high ponytail. I’m not a huge fan of the forehead scales, but those are easy enough to remove. When the initial leaks of G3 came out I wasn’t super impressed, but they’ve really grown on me a lot these past couple months! Lagoona and Draculaura are my favorites.
I actually just got my 1st G3 doll earlier today (Lagoona) & she's drop dead gore-geous! For anyone in Aus looking for her, she should be in stores very soon aswell :)
Update: Be careful with the paint around her blue legs like Jay said, as that scratches easy, from experience cause mine scratched 😭
Yeah I think she looks really pretty I love the details and the clothes, as a doll she looks amazing. But as Lagoona it’s just gonna take some time to get used to the pink skin
Same mine just came in today (she's also my first g3 doll) had to get her off us amazon as I'm in the UK and the side of her right leg paint has scratched off sm and I've had her out of box for a couple of hours 😭

I do like they gave her blue fins and blue legs though to make up for her new main skin colour. I actually do like her and it works for the monster she is.

All of the g3 characters are different from g1. They explained that g3 is in a different universe from g1 and that's why they're all so different
The reason why she is pink is because when they were testing the dolls, kids wanted a pink doll and wanted it to be her. That is also why Frankie and Ghoulia are the colors they are. That is what I heard the most

I got Lagoona today and I love her! I've finally been able to get into monster high and she's my second doll, and I think she's my favourite character. I love sea creatures so that's probably part of the reason. It said she was sold out everywhere so when I saw her I was so happy and surprised that I had to get her
You can use the bathing suit to put on nude dolls! So people dont get triggered when you wash hair! Hope you see this🥰 love the videos and the editing it's so amazing like you are!

I prefer pink Lagoona. I actually prefer this whole design over G1 tbh. However, I'm more interested in seeing what you do with the hair. I know you said it was saran, but a lot of people have been saying her hair is way less manageable than even Clawdeen, which is very curious to me.
I think lagoona just has product in her hair and its a little lighter than draculaura and ghoula but once you wash it and brush it the hair is soft and lovely. The lightness and the length make it a little more prone to tangles from the box but it’s not rough in anyway.
@@jiggerblayne Interesting! I also wonder if maybe it depends on the batch? Like, maybe some dolls had hair that came from a batch that settled better than others. Same things for the fading and chipping body paint. Either way, thanks.

She's pink because according to Mattel's research, kids preferred the pink doll over the blue one. Just like how they liked green Ghoulia over grey Ghoulia.
Lagoona is pink because of kids in testing. Also her last name has nothing to do with her skin color.

I don’t know everyone likes her but she’s my least favorite. I just don’t like the shade of pink for her skin. And all the colors just don’t feel cohesive. She just feels a little all over the place. 😅

I dont like the disconnect between the dolls and the art. Like I'm glad that they arent sacrificing details in the dolls for the sake of simplified art but at the same time some of it is SOO different. It's weird

They turned Neptuna into a prey animal. Maybe they wanted Neptuna to be the opposite of Lagoona to compliment her. But from the clips Ive seen about Lagoona, I would expect her to eat something as nonthreatening at her pet. She also seems more like the type of want something seemingly threatening
I hated her at first (im not even a g1 collector) but now she is my "representation matter" doll. Im also a latina who loves romance and would eat everyone when pissed, then use their bones as decorations. But its ok cause im just here chillin with my childhood plushie so I wont do that.
So my Frankies legs rubbed off but that's okay since I can just chrome up that leg like you did but I'm a little disappointed about my Lagoona's legs chipping really easy and fast I'll have to eitheer airbrush a new layer of pink paint on or just rub the rest off all together 😭

I dont like this pink and the original design was the only thing I liked about her, never cared for the character and was one of the few characters who I found annoying. The main reason why her color was changed was because they wanted/ had to change the Frankie design due to them no longer being able to make them green with bolts. They didnt want to make any main doll grey cause they are oriented to a younger audience, so they made frankie blue and gave the green color to ghoulia, and to prevent having 2 dolls with the same skin tone they made the decision to change lagoonas design. Lagoona became pink ( a different tone of pink than draculaura ) cause if any color was going to be repeated was going to be pink cause of product testing. They tried to keep the blue cause lagoona was always blue so they added the blue details.
Lagoona "blue" should be lagoona pink now...🤡
