I'm no voice coach but my view is Mylie was going for rock attitud rather than pitch perfection. She brings the words to life with her voice and style. Great job and I'm Sure Debbie Harry would love it💙✌

Pop songs are so heavily produced you can't tell which ones can sing and which ones can't unless you see them live.
"Midnight Sky" = a mashup of the classic Stevie Nicks song, "Edge of Seventeen."

Miley killed it. I'm 54 so this was the music I grew up on. I see she was inspired by the song, her admiration is evident. Her choice of delivery was fresh and powerful. 💘👏👏👏

I've loved blonde and never every been a miles fan. After I've heard her do this I have a huge respect for her and think her voice is super special.
She sang this song better then Blondie and that comes from the someone who finished Russian Music Conservatorium This GIRL sing incredibly well .Incredible tone of her voice, beautiful chest husky voice . Great interpretation . Well Done Miley

Miley's "howling dog in a cement mixer" attempt at a Blondie song makes me appreciate the sheer brilliance of Debbie Harry... Debbie could go from soft and gentle to raw and gritty in a single breath... and still be pitch perfect !

She’s really not missed a note at all. Pushed a few notes but as you said, going for that attitude. Might have helped her to go for the head voice at the end 🎤🎤

She seems like a lovely girl with a beautiful heart. She can do stuff with her voice I can not. She is unique and I love her rock voice. Its nice for her voice to grace planet earth
I have never been a fan of MC, but, her pipes are undeniable. I would have thought she'd go for a Stevie Nicks cover due to having similar vibrato, but, as far as Blondie covers go, she was pretty decent.
As Miley’s sound engineer’s mom I am a bit prejudiced🤣because she not only can sing as you say ( good critique) but is a wonderful person.

I am always intrigued by perfomances such as these and the critiques that follow. I recall, decades ago, a vocalist with whom I was working made a disparaging remark about the mechanics of a then-famous vocal style. My first instinct was to inquire as to her difference of opinion with said star vocalist. When I could not get a straight answer, I asked this woman with which producer she was working and what words of wisdom she might be able to impart unto such a young rube as myself. Apart from a bunch of bullshit bromides, I got crickets.
Point being - Miley came out, likely minimally warmed-up after most likely sitting in a chair for 2 hours for hair and makeup, granting 10-15 minute interviews for bloggers, being carefully vacuum-packed, zipped and otherwise having her enviably toned body squeezed into her outfit, and then kicked ass on her cover of Blondie's first big hit in FULL CHEST VOICE WITH NO FALSETTO!!! Yes - there may have been moments at which fatigue may have been evident, but Miley was spot-on. Having played with monster players and singers for the last 40+ years, I would warn against discounting Miley's prowess - the woman can sing her ass off!!

Miley is pushing (badly) because the original range of the song is simply to high for her.
She can certainly sing, but she has a lower voice. Doing a rock version hides some of the effort but only to a point.
