One thing I would do is threaten to have him do embarrassing things he would never forget, like making him out to be a goodie two shoes and making it seems he wants to be best buds forever with Goku or something. That and threaten to intentionally lose fights against extremely weak opponents to hurt his reputation.

yeah kid goku in DBZ killed Gero's son when he attacked kame house and Goku does the kamehame wave on the battle ship. As you said, DBZA made a scene about it. Gero obsessed with revenge building androids to kill Goku. Guessing he made his wife a android that had Majiin Buu's bubblegum powers at some point which raises the question why didnt she fight with Gero when he woke up 17 and 18? But the reason is because the concept of 21 wasnt made until the game came out.
