It gave me such sadness when he’s waiting at the table for the date because he “blacked out”
Yeah for 2 days 😂😭that was really sad
I wanted to give him a hug i felt so bad for him🥺
Captain America and Peggy carter vibes
@@pinemarv4303 Good to know I'm not the only one who felt bad for him 😢
And also the way he said that the well done steak will be good in such a kind of saddened tone
One interesting detail in the car chase is that when Steven is in control he drives on the left side since he's british but after Mark got control the truck was on the right side.
Cheers thought i was tripping because of the episode but someone else noticed as well
That's actually super interesting. Such a subtle detail most probably missed
AWSOME catch!
Easter Egg: That castle is Dr Dooms castle Doomstadt. Also in that same car case scene, the box behind him had Von D written on it.
I just scene it in another video 🤣😂🤣
@@maybachyard the name on the box is just the name of the company not von doom, you can see that in a diff scene
I'm honestly so glad that Moon Knight and Egyptian mythology has a huge platform to reach a ton of people. Egyptian myths are so cool, so I'm pretty happy with this.
The issue is, he blacks out whenever the other personalities kick in, no recollection. but it seems as if the other personalities are aware 100% of the time. hence mark knowing when to take over
its possibly because steven rejects that he has many personalities and thats what causes him to not have any recollection
@@benj0492 ohhhh yeahh
Marc probably only knows because of his connection with the Egyption deity
@@jacemonster5 yeah because khonsu is active at all times as seen with the castle scene
Just a heads up, Marc and the others are not called personalities but called alters!!
I gotta say, the Design of Khonshu in this series is horrifying, yet so good.
I guess you can say that it’s chilling to the bone

He's such an underrated actor.
Such a great actor.

If you take a good look at the scene where Steven first wakes up on the ground in Germany with a dislocated jaw... The wider shot of the castle (seen when Steven is running away from the people shooting at him) shows that the window he had jumped/fallen out of is well over 100 feet up from the grassy spot of ground that he landed on.
...Meaning that he died jumping out of that window and Khonshu had just brought him back to life (again). Which is probably why Khonshu was so ticked off that the Steven persona was the one in charge.
I wondered about that fall. Marc would have been fine. So it was Steven who hit the ground. Good on you for explaining that.
I absolutely love Marc’s grasp on the situations and helping out a lot, even calming Steven so he can become Moon Knight- he’s giving off a lot of protective brother vibes

How come no one is talking about Khonsu calling Steven Grant the “idiot” every time he switched back? One of my favorite parts of the episode especially when he throws the gun at the car through the van’s smashed windshield. I’m really hoping in later episodes we get to see the missing pieces where Mark was in control and kept saving them.
maybe Ep.2 will be from Marc's perspective
That would be a cool episode 2, fo sho.

Yes
There scene where the voices were like “did he just throw the gun?” Was absolutely hilarious
Yeah I was dying 😭
haha it had a 'Venom' vibe to it.
I just laughed at that part
💀 🤣
Honestly, I was so worried every time he was talking to the street performer, thinking with anxiety that the street performer would become fed up with him talking so much, break his performance as a statue, and get up and walk away, expressing feelings of annoyance from having to listen to Steven for so long. Which would have been even more gut wrenching for his self esteem to think that not even a human statue wants anything to do with him.
I thought he was a statue the whole time
@@nathanlegrand7444 a statue didn't collect coins 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I love how every time Marc switches back to Steven there is a brief second where we see Marc before Steven fully settles. It flashes back to Steven and he always has an intensely focused face, in proper fighting stances, no fear in his eyes and then within a second he is back to Steven freaking out, flailing limbs and nervous posture. Oscar is doing a great job of switching between the two and keep the two very separate from each other in every way. They are two completely different people despite being one body.
He’s an amazing actor
Needs to work on the American accent tho
@Samuel Famson do you mean his British accent? He grew up in America.
@@matthewevans7703 no his British accent is actually top notch

Konshu repeatedly hating on Steven was my favorite part of the episode.
"Oh. The idiots in control."

“Did he just throw the gun?”
I also liked the part where arthur said something in native language to kneel down and Steven was just figuring out what happened and said "oh bollocks" I laughed my ass off. Even these series is tending on a darker side clumsy Steven has a dry humorous side too.
“Go back to sleep worm”

The walking in this episode was something else. Ethan Hawke’s glass feet and Oscar Isaac’s walk as Steven are very unique.
Oscar Isaac shows how good he is at acting with the switches between Marc Spectre and Steven Grant i cant wait to see more!
I’ve never heard someone praise an actor’s walking 😂
Supposed to be a link of breaking glass in Jewish wedding? So many ideas, so little time... burn out from so many ideas.
@@randalllaue4042 I thought so too but then I was thinking maybe it’s a way to keep one personality in control?
@@diamondkonk1196 it’s Ethan... not Oscar. Oscar is the one that can’t stay in character. Ethan in one clip said he thought up the walking on glass, if it was in script, he would have been told to do it. Confusing. Someone else brought up the Jewish symbolism... I feel like we’re being messed with for lack of script.
I'm surprised that nobody has really talked about the fact that it's not exactly a bathroom, it's only full of sinks. That seems like a major hint towards the divide in reality and the viewpoint of Steven, Marc, etc.

I fully love how fully disconnected Moon Knight feels from the rest of the MCU, it briefly reminded of Eternals and Daredevil sometimes, but for the most part, the episode had its own identity
How did it remind of eternals or daredevil?
It's nothing like eternals or daredevil wtf are you on about
Literally as Ethan Hawkes character was talking about the horrible people in history, he could’ve brought up Thanos but didn’t. That won brownie points for me
@@Ash-of1yl eternals becouse of mythology and egypt which was part of the many ancient civilisations

Actually "Chaos" is a concept in Egyptian mythology like "mana or magic energy" so when I heard Harrow says Steven has chaos in him I kind of understand that he has some sort of power or something inside him.
It’s called Jin
Not just a feather. Your heart got weighed against the feather of truth. Amet was just the executioner. And Anubis was the person that prepared you and set up the ritual. The feather was the true judge.
the “steven waking up to chaotic aftermath” is so good. Oscar Isaac just kills the duel personalities. and Ethan Hawke is so subtly unsettling. THAT ENDING!!!! this series has a pretty great start💯

I really loved how cinematic this series was and that Marvel isn’t shying away from this following Eternals. This episode was beautifully shot and handled really well. Super refreshing to see.
the camera work during the first inventory scene and the chase at the end 🤌🏾
not was, is
that's the one thing i have not liked as much about the msu (streaming universe) compared to the mcu. that the shows aren't as cinematic and exciting as the movies. i know it's probably because these are like 5.5 or more hour long movies rather than 2-2.5
Eternals was so refreshing and tasteful and exquisite. Slightly frustrating how a lot of critics and fans didnt get it but here's hoping Marvel just continues to execute its vision as it should be
Missable detail: Steven says his name is "Steven, with a V." Likely separating himself from another in-universe Stephen - Dr Strange.
I noticed that. Barely caught it, really just the "'Steven', with a V" bit.
Yeah, I heard that too. I wondered why he made a deal of it.
Reach
Nice catch!
I think there were a joke about that for Dr Strange, he had to do the same thing but I can’t remember.
The Avatar reference: That movie touched on the subject of inserting a personality into a body and existing as one.
Avatar the anime: Though Ang was the present Avatar he had all the personalities of the Avatars who came before him in his mind.
The Wham song: I heard on the lyrics Wake me up before you go (cause I don't plan on going solo).
Meaning someone or in this case something and someone is asking for the ride🤔
Just my observation.
Good observation. Even though George Michael was actually talking about his boyfriend going to the club without him, it fits in that retrospect too :)
Also another thing I got from the song was how Steven could never tell the difference between dreams and reality and he’s desperate to just wake up
This was INCREDIBLE, I truly am blown away so far. wasn't sure how to feel about Hawkeye, moon knight and the upcoming miss marvel but so far they've all been amazing and really loving the storylines in all marvel shows so far.
I just the freshness and creativity of this series. It’s like a breath of fresh air!
This series going to be one of the best Disney have done imo, loki was great but I feel like this gunna blow it out the water
Hope so

Idk
Loki will never be topped
Well the first ep kinda didn't hit the ball. it was meh
The Goldfish Problem also refers to the notion that the memory of a goldfish is so short it can’t remember its own past- like Steven/Marc
Oh ok. Thank you. I was trying to figure out why that was the name of this episode
really? are people dumb enough to not figure that much out? but alr ty
I feel as Steven gets more aware of his condition then his mind blocks out the unnecessary reflections and becomes more focused on the reflection he truly needs to see, which is Mark. Hence why he no longer saw multiple reflections in the bathroom. It only happened when he started accepting the reality of the situation.
One more detail is that the sand surrounding Stevens bed is kind of in the shape of a cresent moon. Also if you think of the sand as a moon then Steven is sleeping on top of the darker side of it, maybe symbolising that he doesn't know of this identity yet?
Moon Knight may end up in my top 5 favorite Marvel characters if this series keeps getting better and better 🌙 👀
It probably will

He's my 1st
Me too
Same this character is so interesting!!!!
I love how the episode ends with the hunted becoming the hunter, emphasised by the jackal trying to escape while earlier it was Steven who was escaping
that Jackal didn't know who it was messing with.. :)
Noon Knight represents a major pivot in the MCU. It’s thriller/horror elements are pretty unique even among Disney shows. I’m interested to see what direction the series takes.
It’s like falcon and winter soldier took the kid gloves off and moon knight started swinging fists.
Noon Knight is like Moon Knight but after he has slept in.
Pfffft Noon Knight
Oscar Isaac give one heck of a performance transitioning from one character to the other. The camera work is astounding.
22:47 The way the camera is focused on the empty hallway (instead of the action in the bathroom) until a large rectangular object flies out from the room is very reminiscent of the famous daredevil hallway fight.
I just have that scene with the microwave being tossed stuck in my head now. XD
Yup. Cool scene, but it could try some uniqueness. Not everything needs to be a nod to other stuff.
Plot twist, it's not a bathroom, it's just a room of sinks.
that was my exact thought process!:D
The series is so promising
Oscar issac totally showcasing his awesome acting skills
Best series
LOVED how the Moonknight transition is more instinctive, appearing as more of a fight-or-flight instinct
This episode was a 10/10 for me. A ride from beginning to end. Kept me in my emotions and I felt so many different ones😂😂
So true! Looking forward to the future episodes.
Indeed!
Damn near cried when Steven missed that steak dinner date
Sameee i kept repeating the episodeit was soo goodd
Overall, Oscar Isaac's performance (particuarly in the scarab scene) where he's showing outside forces controling his body really reminded me of how Tom Hardy moved during the begining stages of symbiosis in the first Venom movie. Both actors are really good physial actors and are able to sell it scarily well.
Same lol. And another one I thought of just now was jackie chan in the tuxedo, when he plays someone using a tuxedo of a secret agent that lets his fighting do it for him.
Yes, this episode was giving me strong Venom vibes. Glad I'm not the only one. :)
Have you ever seen Upgrade? Great movie and similar. Great acting by the main character as well.
Truuuu when i first watch this scene it immediately reminds me of venomm!!!
@@flawed1465 yes true also that was also scary accurate but way scarier how he was doing things but crying at the same time
This episode was so good. The acting and story itself went above and beyond my expectations! Can't wait to see how it plays out and ties in with the rest of the MCU.
I really loved those scenes where Khonsu gets all irritated when Steven is in control....The way Khonsu says "Did he just throw the gun?" was enough to make me go 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't think we were gonna jump straight into the action on the first ep. I was expecting that for ep 2.
Exactly, it surprised me
Only 6 eps. Gotta get right to it
Book of star wars take notes
Of course. Otherwise the general audience wouldn’t like it and keep watching it. Disney is known for having great 1st episodes. Examples mandalorian, the book of boba fett, Loki, etc.
It was just an awesome episode
While Steve was reading the book about Egyptian mythology, the "stay awake" app or whatever it is called said: "Try reading a book and imaginating yourself in it, what chapter would you like to be in?" or something like that. I think this is a neat foreshadow.
Yeah that was really cool. And something relatable.
That was such great acting when he was ordering the steak. You really felt for him and connected to him. Loved that scene.
Actually in the frontal take when Moon Knight is appearing, you can see the wrappings in the mirrors. You don't see it at 22:37 because the wrappings are predominately facing us and therefore, not the mirror we're facing at that time.
There are mirrors on both sides
i think its interesting that in a few occasions marc’s reflections are split into three, potentially teasing jake lockley also being a personality in their mind.
I saw someone saying it was Jake who set up the date with that Tour Guide at the Museum, which I'd really like if true
@@ZekromAndYugiAndDrago123 That would make sense tbh, it isn't like Marc currently has the time for a relationship.

I know nothing about Moon Knight but this first episode definitely has me intrigued. So far it’s badass.
Yup growing up I always knew of him and thought he was cool but didn’t know anything about him. He seems very gritty like Batman, straight business and ass whoopings. Feel like Marvel doesn’t have a character like him yet so it’s very refreshing to see this “horror” film take on a character.
He’s pretty much a slightly super powered Batman. But crazier, believe it or not. Much, much crazier.

Thats how crazy he is 😂
The multiple personalities makes him intriguing to me.

This show is starting solid. I hope it can keep this quality of story telling and I need a hoodie that is based on Moonknight’s costume . With the wrapping and all. Looks pretty badass.
There is another clue at 5:12 when it shows the postcards one says “Hyde” paralleling his split personality to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Hyde being the evil part
Interesting. In the original story, Hyde was never an alternate persona. It was just Jekyll having been freed from his inhibitions. In the unrecognized Hyde body he transformed into from the serum, he could indulge in vices and violent impulses without anyone knowing who he really was. It became an addiction. The story focused more on the dangers of being freed from consequences and the addiction to those feelings.
In case you were wondering where that image comes from, its from Hyde Park Corner tube station, where it and other stations still have the burnt in station names from late 1800s/early 1900s in the platform tiling.
I highly doubt the writers intended to reference Split, a movie with horrendous DID representation. There are no “evil alters”.

Honestly applauds to the camera work in this ep and I like where this is heading after ep 1 they set up the mystery and a bit of the back story, though I do wonder if we'll get mentions of the eternals since clearly they all must have crossed paths at some point with these Egyptian gods and I'm saying this as someone who's never read the comics which may make this more enjoyable.

That moment when he missed his date was sad af. Especially because it accurately portraits his disorder, the loss of time is one of the main tells of the problem.
Hey guys, In relation to DID, and to Systems specifically, the “other identities” or “personas” or “personalities” aren’t just weirdly assumed things as he thinks he’s these people, these are separate parts of himself, with awareness completely apart from each other, and are referred to as Alters. DID needs better representation and Moon Knight i feel may be able to give that, but not if the conversation surrounding it is ignorant to the details of the condition.
DID is also most commonly found in adults who have been sexually abused in childhood, and those in complete social isolation. Unfortunately people seem to think the disorder is just multiple people in one body trying to control the other. When infact it is not, and alters are also not all that common in sufferers of DID, most only completely disassociating their waking life, not really changing but not being able to remember what they did as they disassociate sometimes.

6:20: I think that's an important scene. Steven also talks about the field of reeds, which is called "Aaru", the Ancient Egyptian name for Celestial Heliopolis (realm of the Egyptian gods) in the comics. And the Great Pyramid of Giza is said to be the nexus between Earth and Celestial Heliopolis.

Eternals got the treatment because it wasn't as good, not because it was different. (this is my personal opinion, I didn't like it much, I cannot speak for others). One of my favorite little nods in this episode is the little Ghost Rider sticker seen on the elevator when Steven runs to it.
Khonshus detail, texture, and overall look is absolutely amazing and just a tiny bit frightening which makes it absolutely amazing. Helpful hint for deciphering hieroglyphs - Ancient Egyptian could be written in either direction (because Egyptians loved them some symmetry). Start on the side the figures are facing. Also, even though some characters are 'defined' as vowels, ancient Egyptian didn't really use them. The vowel characters you mentioned were used mostly in words with similar characters, just to help scribes differentiate them. One inferred the vowels in most words from the consonants - this results in a lot of guesswork on the part of linguists as to pronunciation. Also, if the designers did their work right, you'll just be transcribing the word sounds of ancient Egyptian phonetically - you won't be able to understand them.
Well, the scarab itself has mirrored glyphs, so technically it fits one side or the other. :P
Considering your last point, the hieroglyphs might be transcribing English words put together from Egyptian sounds (albeit somewhat limited or distorted) if they were in fact purposefully designed by Marvel.
@@sinteleon completely missed the point kiddo

What do I do without you guys??!! Thank you 😭😭😭
The show’s depiction of D.I.D although a bit exaggerated, is incredibly accurate and very relatable so far. This comes from someone who has the disorder. Cant wait to see more!
They did a brilliant job translating his struggle with mental illness it really makes you think
