I'm leaving in 7 days for my first cruise thanks to your wonderful videos! No. Seriously. I Watched one of your videos and I texted my then boyfriend now fiance "I'm leaving on a cruise on this date. You can join me if you want. If not. I will be gone for a week!" And bought the cruise that night. I love your tips and hints. I'm an ICU nurse so the hand washing and getting sick is my main worry and focus. Luckily I'm packing enough hand sanitizer for the ship just in case. 😂🤷🏻♀️
We did the maths for a drink package and just couldn’t find that we would be drinking enough to justify the cost. Then once on board one of the maitre D’s offered us of 50% of the second package, so that tipped the deal to our favor. Love your videos!
Put your phone into airplane mode, otherwise it can connect to a roaming point which may not be in your phone plan and cost a bomb. My iPhone connected to Isle of Man, when the ship was near there overnight, not even docked, and promptly uploaded my photos to the cloud and I got charged a fortune by virgin mobile.
Thank you for the tips because I am a ROOKIE . Me and boyfriend leave for our first cruise in two weeks and for months I have been doing research and constantly updating myself with information about cruise lines thanks to you guys. Our cruise will be on the Norwegian Breakaway and I can not wait to go. I will continue to watch you guys because you guys are such a big help and just know that I appreciate it 💕 love you 😍
Shannon McClain my favorite part of the ship is the Waterfront. Ate outside at La Cucina. They also have complimentary breakfast at Moderno so you can grab your food and sit outside enjoying the morning sun and a nice breeze. Also loved the thermal suite. We had a spa mini suite so it’s included but you can buy a week or day pass.
I made the mistake of getting a stateroom right below an open deck 🙄 I didn’t know it at the time unfortunately. We were woken up every morning at like 4 am by people running right above us (even though they weren’t supposed to use that for running) so tip check what’s above your room first lol
So true! My agent from our cruise line made sure we were aware of where our room would be before processing our booking so we getting the best room available.
A big one for me, don't over eat! With so many places aboard the ship to eat, it is quite tempting to try it all. Quick way to feeling miserable in my book.
Great tips guys! I second all of those. Definitely research the ship you're considering and double check your stateroom location if you're choosing it. Consider noise from below and above, proximity to elevators etc and whether you suffer from seasickness. We've never bothered with drinks packages (just don't drink that much per day) or wi-fi on cruises. It's nice to switch off for a few days or just check in when in port. The seat reservation thing, on the lido deck or in the theatre really bugs us too. I'm glad cruise lines might be enforcing the rules more in this area.
We are a long way from being first time cruisers, but we enjoyed watching this video tonight. It’s a good refresher, and absolutely outstanding information for its target audience.
Great video! Great advice! We're getting ready to go on the Equinox in November, so I've been catching up on several reviews and it amazes me how many reviewers complain about how hot it is in the Caribbean ports. I just want to ask them what they thought it would be? They are sailing in the Caribbean in Summer, did they expect snow? LOL One even complained that the Dolphin encounter description didn't mention they needed swimwear! I can't imagine what they were thinking! Anyway, thank you again for a great list of tips!
One thing we learned before our first cruise was to pretreat our clothes with Permethrin spray. I'm a mosquito attractant (thanks genetics for this and the sunburns) and after using we noticed we were mostly bug free compared to the other guests. Caribbean cruises so I'm not sure if effective in other climes - but as B&D say "do your research" even if its for the ports/climates you're visiting.
Good video guys. I hate when seats are saved in the ship's theatre and the people come in after the show has started and then talk amongst themselves during the show. I think that once the show has started the doors should be closed and entry forbidden.
So I'm looking at going on a 5 day cruise soon with my hubby, this will be his first cruise. For the wifi for us it's going to I think $80 for both of us, its mostly for social media so we can text our families so that they aren't too worried while we are gone & by that time there's a possibility of them having our little one. Is it worth it? Also for seat saving can you let the staff know, so you can get a seat?
those were good ..first time ive seen anyone catch it on par..well done..Yeah if ppl are going to sit with you, they should be there same time as you.. Another thing..the running down the Ailes when they want theyre particular seat. I was worried bout that as im disabled and have ppl run up behind me was freaky. Someone had already done that on ship to me.. Just no. dont do it
What do you consider a good price? We are going on our first cruise in 57 days . I love your channel and so look forward to your videos. Your both so very informative and the videos with your family cruises are awesome too. Those children are just delightful. Keep up the great work guys.xox
I’d say it depends on the cruise line. Look at a number of their cruises to work out an average price per night. If you can get your cruise under the average then it’s cheap for that line.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the WiFi packages on Symphony of the Seas? I heard the tip in the video and now I don’t know if I should get the WiFi or not.
First cruise. We were given drink packages for two. There are three of us. I did the numbers. Way too much drinking to justify paying $800 plus for one person. Our service charge for the two is $200 plus. We can manage that much drinking, lol. We will pay the $10-15 per drink for the third person who isn’t really a drinker.
There are a few calculators to help determine if the drinks package is worth it or not. Estimate what you expect to drink in each category and it'll show what you can expect to spend on different cruise lines and if the package would save you money. One can be found here: www.cruzely.com/cruise-line-drink-package-calculator/
I just learned if I purchased 75% of my vacation on my visa they cover travel insurance up to 200 000. So no need for us to purchase additional travel insurance. And I thought that was very cool.
#5 cruising at the wrong time, I feel really sorry for teachers here. Teachers can only go on holiday when the kids are off, surely when teachers are on holiday the last thing you’re gonna wanna be dealing with is more children 😞 as someone who works in a school myself (only part time not as a teacher) I can take time off at my own expense and I far rather do that than have to share a ship with thousands of children 😤
big mistake not putting your phone in airplane mode you can run up a huge bill with your cell phone carrier for roaming or going into a foreign country while on the cruise
Don’t understand why would anyone bother about sun loungers on the first place???? It’s such a waste of time and being under a direct sunlight, it’s just not healthy for skin. The same goes for swimming pools, it’s like having a public bath with sooooo many people, it’s disgusting.....
The most irritating is the lounger supersize where they put their towels on loungers close to the cover from the walk round deck and put other items on the table under cover next to their loungers. Arrgghhhhh!
@@vandaalexander160 On some cruise ships there is a walk around deck one level above the pool providing shade to the side of the pool deck. There are sun loungers around the pool and under the shelter provided by the walk around deck there are more chairs, tables loungers etc. The pest I am talking about puts towels on the loungers in the sun and items on the furniture under the shade. In other words blocking two lots of seating
Great tips but I have to disagree on the WiFi. Leaving my kiddos home. WiFi to check in them isn’t an option. Social media I don’t care about but getting messages to my sitters is necessary.

I'm doing my first cruise in three weeks. The wifi tip was exactly what I needed. Thanks!

Diamond Small just cruised the Breakaway last month. Great ship! Food the bomb! Book your specialty dining and shows in advance of the cruise!
I'm going on the Breakaway in May 2020! What was your favorite part of the ship? What didn't you like? It'll be our first cruise too!

Great vlog ,our big mistake once was getting lower room special. Then boom one morning it was the anchor lowering lol 😂
Watching this in 2021, now I think everyone is going to wash their hands. You guys are amazing 😊
This checklist is fabulous! Excellent video! Good job guys!
Some really good advice lads
I like your videos very much ❤️
Thanks guys very helpful although very sensible if we take these tips, we pretty much have these covered.
Excellent advice - Best list to-date :)
All good tips, well done!
Good vlog. Thanks guys. 🤗🤗
I want to go on symphony of the seas from miami which is the best time to go to avoid crowd please tell

Great advice.
Great work guys

Thanks for #12 I got a wifi package included, but NCL is offering a paid upgrade to unlimited wifi, prob not... Now

Cheaper cruises will have cheaper facilities though. I won't sail on Carnival, just because of how the cabins are made. Especially the bathrooms. Ugh.

Love it love it love it
The social media WiFi plan on carnival is only about $7 per day and well worth it!
Do you know whether RC has a WiFi only plan?

The WiFi on the MSC Bellissima was a bit expensive, but was fast.
Thank you for the WiFi tip
Where y'all from?
Boose cruz!😀
I'm the only on a cruise or anywhere else who can reserve their seat just ask your nephews. ROFL😆
Rookie question: If you're cruising with a large family, and can't use your phones, how can you get in touch if everybody's all over the ship?
Just had a thought about price, most cruise lines quote prices per person, but some quote price per room based on two sharing, so always check.
I just learned if I purchased 75% of my vacation on my visa they cover travel insurance up to 200 000. So no need for us to purchase additional travel insurance. And I thought that was very cool.
fixlana have you figured out the credit card interest?
We just pay off what we spend right away and get charged no interest!
May I ask which credit card company?
@@fixlana same here, once I have the cash in the bank I charge the entire payment to get the reward points as well and then pay off the balance.

Wow, 15 drinks a day. Professional drunks don't drink that much. Will you even remember the cruise?
Haha probably boarding then disembarking.
Our first cruise in 57 Days. If i see sunbeds reserved etc i shall tell staff to remove it.
8803surri if you can’t find staff do it yourself. That’s BS to reserve a chair at 5 am then not sit in it until noon.

Ian Gill ???
New to cruising not sure what you’re talking about. Hope I don’t do it, lol

Ian Gill got it. They want sun and shade. Thanks for the explanation.
“Wash your hands” that aged well

Sorry who doesn’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom?
You would be surprised!
Are last cruise on Oasis of the seas we bought their wi-fi it was $125 plus tax for one week and one device
Royal's wifi was pretty fast tho expensive (they're all expensive), but I enjoyed!
One of my big mistake is not pre booking a cabin, our cabin was right next to the engine, now there’s a tale and a half
Lynne Mclachlan That’s what you get for sneaking aboard!
Lol No
