Great little video I have the same unit and had it for over 4 years I empty the tank every time I finish using it and I've never had a problem when refilling and using the machine again I see lots of people complaining about these units however is clearly down to maintenance so great back on look forward to your next few videos😊
Really enjoying the videos Mick slowly working my way through your back catalogue I came over from Hayes machine after there live the other day. Nice to see someone else doing the same as me I have been buying repairing and selling equipment since I was 12 I now do it as a side line to my tree surgery company really enjoy being in the workshop 👌 your little lad Riley boy absolutely love him always good to see him in the workshop my Boys love being in daddy's workshop start them young 👍 keep up the good work.
I took the carb off mine and sprayed with carb cleaner. Didn’t fix the staggering on throttle so took carb off again and stuck it in an ultrasonic cleaner at 50hz and 45 degree temp for 30 mins. Works good as new now. The jet or fuel lines get clogged if not used regular…this is common for all carbs not just cheap titan.
Hi Mick, my dad has a Titan Multi Tool which doesn't start, tried a new carb but no joy, not sure what pipe is the pump side and what side is the overflow. Any help would be grateful. Thanks
You can get a pack size for £8.. Fuel Line Hose Tube 4 Sizes Diesel Fuel Line Replacement Oil Pipe Hose for Mower Strimmer, Chainsaw, Blower, Outdoor Garden Machines (4 Size, 1.5m Per Each) amzn.eu/d/06gIWdn
The fuel line on mine broke off in the grommet, the plastic ages and goes brittle. Also the carb was knackered but found a replacement on ebay that fitted, although it has a priming bulb on the side of it so there's two in the circuit but it fitted, venturi lined up with head and mounting screw holes too - got lucky. New carb was tunable too (old one wasn't). Very satisfying when you get it into the sweet spot.
Got a two stroke strimmer which I’ve had for a good number of years and starts every time when I need it or a friend wants to borrow it. That was a nice little fix happy days 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍
Good fix, nothing like a fuel line job. You are lucky, I would rather get the machines with no fuel. When there is gas in them, it seems that it's always had at least one birthday in the machine.
Hi mate love the videos I’ve just started to play around with strimmers like to learn from your videos have you done any videos on strimmer head spins on tick over I’ve adjusted the carb but still does it could it be an issue with the clutch.?
I just had a gent bring 2 of these to me and he didn't know anything about 2 srokes. I turned the job down after I found out he bought them at a yard sale.
Hi Mick! Need your help. Tried everything you covered, including changing the carb, fuel lines and filter, fuel bulb, even purchased 2-stroke engine fuel. Purged the bulb and have been trying to start, it catches but does not start. Have done the quarter turn on the screw on the new carb (which is a cross-head) anti-clockwise - did not work right up to the screw was almost out! Screwed it clockwise too back to point it could not, each time quarter turns, and repeating the start up process. Frustrating. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
Mine wont start….its a few years old and hasn’t done much works at all…prob done an hour at tops….. checked spark plug other day and was clean…Ive been told by others the carb needs a special tool to adjust the mixture ….what do you recon? It’s a very clean machine …never cleaned it but because its done no work it’s stayed clean. Couple years ago it would start but not rev…now it wont start. Do you recon fuel goes off? Ive never had any problems with all my other 2 stroke tools which i leave fuel in over winter etc.

Hippotech Pack of 12 Carburetor Adjustment Tool with Acircle Scredrivers for 2-Cycle Small Engine for Husqvarna for STHIL for ECHO Trimmer Chainsaw amzn.eu/d/ih47t3J if not then a replacement carb will fix it.. fuel starts to go bad after 40 days ..
Hi Mick do you know what mix a tanaka strimmer would be bought one but forgot to ask the seller the mix I've run 50:1 in and it runs brilliant but don't know if it needs a richer or more diluted mix
Make sure you don't confused the fuel tank top with that of the mixer tank. The fuel tank has a breather hole the mixer doesn't. Makes a big difference.
Hi Mick, I have contacted you in the past about a Hayter 41 ignition start battery replacement, and you kindly came back to me. I wanted to ask your advice about my own work Multi Tool, it's not a customer repair this time. It's a Fox Garden Commander MK2, I gave it a service, new spark plug, cleaned air filter, cleaned carbie, new fuel filter, fresh fuel mix, took the carbon off the exhaust mesh, and had to replace the multi tool attachment on the stem. Its always been a little bit hard to start but when warm no problem. However, it didn't like to be started, so had to revert to shooting carburettor spray down the spark plug hole. On closer inspection, I noticed the rubber diaphragm behind the primer bulb had a small split, so I contacted the manufacturer and managed to get a spare and also a further black diaphragm behind this with a small circle grill in the middle. Took apart and replaced and thought this would solve it. You know what, it still refuses to start without the carburettor spray down the plug hole, once warm okay, to stop and start, but if the machine goes cold need to start spraying again. Is there anything you can suggest that I am doing wrong and what can I try next. On a separate note watched your excellent video on the gear box repair on Hedge Trimmer blades not working as I have got that to do on a few machines I picked up. Anyway, any of your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks John
Nice easy fix Mick but you know Claus will stroke-out if he see's that starter puck from the Honda hedger still sitting on your work table. 🤣 Good job and tell Riley we said hey. 🙂👍
Nice quick fix Toolstation cheapy. But they can be ok have had a lot of then in to repair ok if the owners use right mix and let them warm up before use.Sold a long reach one the other day i paid 10 changed fuel lines cleaned carby adusted needle and sold it for80
I have one of these that I bought from Screwfix many years ago. Repairer said he didn't think much of Titan but I've never had any trouble until now. Paid £55 to have diaphragm replaced. After waiting a couple of weeks for part to be delievered went to pick it up. It statrted after a few pulls in the shop. After a week took it out of the shed & after filling up, priming & choking it just refused to start so is now back at repairers. I have a very tall & wide laurel hedge so need a long reach cutter. While away being repaired again have been looking on the internet & found Mitox & Mountfield as a repacement if neccessay. Are they any good because as a pensioner I don't want to be spending £300/400 pounds like I've seen on the internet.
I’m not keen on working on strimmers and hedge trimmers Mick, but I do get quite a few for repairs, mainly for the fuel pipes. But still, it’s all money for the back pocket I suppose. 👍
Hi mick what screwdriver did you use to tune up ? My uncle has one of these and struggles to Rev up and every so often the chock handle moves back to chocking machine 🤔 Remember to get down and dirty 🤘
Always the same at the start of the season, little two strokes with dodgy diaphragms ect where they've been left with fuel in them all winter 😒 that titan looks much like a qualcast, id steer well away from qualcast, you can only seem to get important parts from one supplier and they are unreliable, slow and no communication whatsoever.
@@themowerman you know, a mate of mine was told his McCullock chainsaw was beyond economic repair and that he should buy a new one. It took me an hour and the price of a carb rebuild kit to get it back in action. It makes you wonder just how much dealers charge in labour.
