I am a Gt1000 user and I have been for a year. Getting high gain from this thing is a struggle. It's a pain in the ass. You will get an awesome sound at home, but then live you will notice that the noise gates needs to go up all the way and they produce an odd squeak and bass response (you can just about hear what I am talking about at the end of the phrases being played during the Uber patches in this video). After a year I have nailed it by using the 'line out' output method and running XLR into the PA system for my 80s band. To get a similar setup from an amp you would need to run this into the FX loop return. In my other band I use the 5 cable setup with my 5150 and it's brilliant as the gt1000 controls the amp channels. This thing does take time to get right, but it will be fair to say that you get better high gain sounds from the Helix straight away. Where this pedal wins IMO is the easy of use. The app. The computer software. Instant patch changes. And finally, absolutely stunning mod and delay effects.
Dominic Jones. Have you connected Boss re this, they seem to be listening to user complaints and requests much more intently and professionally than they ever did on anything previous. The Version 3 firmware was quite a good update, solving issues and adding a lot of new features, it seems they do intend to keep developing the GT1000 via updates, so perhaps this issue (and others!) will be sorted out?
Bought a GT 1000 and used these settings as bases for lots of tones. So far that’s a GT 1000 and JTM 45 that you’ve given me good tips on. Thanks Leon. 👍
Hi, I recently bought the GT-1000 and searched on youtube for great advice, tips and presets. I was really impressed by what I've heart looking at your video's, much better sounds than the presets that are in the unit. I was almost disappointed after having paid such an amount of money. Unfortunately the link to your presets and IR is not working anymore. Is there any chance that you will make them available again please? Thanks a lot.
most of the presets need editing to get the sound you want. i got myself the GT 1000 and am very happy with it. many tutorial videos on youtube or you can even check the manual
Dude that Rubato is SICK! I had to pause the video ten times to try and that headstock. Went to the website and watched our quick video on it... damn $4300 is a ton of money but it looks and sounds good! You still have that thing?
BOSS has some great stuff. My go-to for jamming at the house when I don't turn on the AX8 is the BOSS JS-10. Does this have a preset named Stack Lead? I'm always using this preset.
I always liked boss products. I held off on getting this unit because someone reviewed it and said if you were a player into the high gain stuff as i am the boss gt 1000 would not be good enough for you.Seems to me from some of your preset sounds that the unit can do high gain just fine. Any thoughts?
I think the approach they took to amp and cab modelling is a little different to the other units on the market, so it takes a bit of time and some tweaking to get them sounding the way you'd expect.

@@DomTremendous I haven't played this live BUT if I was using a real amp live I'd much rather use the GT1000 for effects than having to buy a bunch of 500 series pedals and other stomps. Really shines in that application IMO.
@@LeonTodd 100%. I bought it for the value. It's worth it for the reverbs and delays alone. I was aware of some of the high gain drama before I got it. At home it's great, especially in recording mode with IRs. But live it's missing something. You should have a go at the 4 or 5 cable setup. I would love for you to do a video on it. I love your videos and I've learned a lot from you on the gt1000... Especially on the eq section.
Hi Leon, one thing that people don’t mention , which has a huge effect on sound, is the input level they use. I vary between -2, 0 and +2 and can’t settle on either for long..... any tips.?
Modeling is awesome. They all sound so good now. While I wait for the FM3, what’s your recommendation: Helix (full fat floorboard); Kemper Stage; or GT-1000?
If you can find a used AX8 it will sound great and you'll get used to the fractal ecosystem. For amp tones the atomic amplifirebox is a great one to look at, but honestly any of these will do. The Helix UI is incredible, the GT 1000 has all the Boss 500 series fx, the Kemper is amazing if you find the right profile. All so good!

Your playing always rips. Killer. I still like your axeFx tones better than this though. Of course everyone knows 80s tones are best using the ADA. 😂😉🎸💝👍💝🎸👍👍 Still want to see you AB the 80s rack unit against the new preamp pedal that also uses tubes and the company says gets that rack 80s tones. Please? 😂😉🎸💝👍👍😉💝🎸
Looks like the patches aren't available to download anymore :(. Do you mind re-hosting them or renewing the link if you still have them in your cloud?

High cut the delays, that's all!

You could make videos exploring the other amp models, mainly Tweed, with les paul strat;). Tks
Great videos, was wondering how much better is the GT-1000 compared to the GT-100 sound.
