It's hard to believe that this show is 20 years old next year!! I wonder if they might bring it back for a one-off special to celebrate the anniversary . If they did I really hope that they can get Kris Marshall to return as Nick.

A Classic every Friday night when I was a kid Chinese take out and My Family. And everyday it slips so far behind me, it's sad when you look back at memories that begin to form when your a kid when life seemed so slow, that days and weeks seemed a lifetime. Then when you reach your late teens they seem so short and memories seem to take no time to be made. Before you know it that new film you loved is three years old. All the things that will come and go and all the people I shall never know.
I am so glad that I just bought the entire box set of this show. I got it from the United Kingdom Amazon’s website. I am an American but I have always prefer and totally love the British tv shows over the American ones. Have ever since I was a little kid. And My Family is one of my very most favorite British comedies. I just thought the writers on that show were absolutely geniuses. There has never been a show made that made me laugh as hard and as long as this show did.
Didn’t you get it on BBC America in the US? As I remember there was a series 4 (the series without Janey) episode that got banned by the BBC and UKTV here in the UK (but is still included on the UK release of the series 4 DVD), but it never got banned in the US?
This show is a classic, I wish the series was on Netflix.

For fans of this show i was just informed it is showing on brit box if you have that or if you have bbciplayer it is on demand there. I just caught the first 2 episodes and started out my day pretty good so far.

I love this show. I cannot believe noone anywhere in the world has copies of this show and it isn't being streamed anywhere in the world. I spent hours searching and had no luck. In the uk it hasnt been aired in many years accd to the data I found. PBS used to play it occasionally. Now they only play keeping up appearances which they've played every year for at least 20 years. Please anyone who has this show. Upload it or copy it on dvd hell I'll take beta max and email me. I'll buy everyone you can get.

@Jimmy Forrest dunno where youre located but im in Texas. We can get brit box i just try to cheat when i can. PBS used to show all of the great brit coms but have really slacked off in the ladt couple decades. I got a uk address covered the tv license and stream the shows to me on the brit channels. I posted the fact that My Family is being airdd on both brit box and bbciplayer. I had googled it right after i saw your post. It said bbc started airing it again this year. I set up my connection several months ago only to find it wasnt airing anywhere in the world according to google. But i think its an anniversary or something so the powers that ve put it back on the air. And all is right with the world....except for the Bat Crap Fever thats killing folks.

Ah.. this show is my favourite. It also reminds me of my fiancée and how our family would turn out when we start having kids. 😂😂😂
The only problem with this video is that it don't have the insults from other characters then Ben's. That makes it look like Ben is the only mean one, while actually everyone insults each other all the time in a way for which a word still has to be invented. But for now briljant will do.

It was a shame when Kris Marshal (Nick) departed, but it's understandable that he didn't want to be remembered as a typecast role and wanted to move on to new things

Got the 22 disc DVD boxset of this - my Mum and Dad got me into it! It’s so funny there isn’t an episode in which I’m not laughing at 😂😂😂😂😂😂, this, One Foot in the Grave and Citizen Khan (the first series of which also starred Kris Marshall) are three of the best BBC sitcoms around! EDIT : due to their decision not to include the reloaded special on the series 5 dvd, I’m now also watching it on BBC iPlayer, but imo series 4 (with the exception of the Xmas special) isn’t as good as it doesn’t feature Janey (she is just 😍😍😍😍😍😍) - I’m avoiding all the main episodes of that on iPlayer and watching the Xmas special on the same day as when I watch all the series 3 episodes (which will be tomorrow)

Yeah tbh I agree a little season's 1-4/5 was great with nick but season 6-7 and a little bit of 8 were good but in season 10 they made mikey gay then that became most of the jokes in the series it was just gay jokes about Mikey or it would just be jokes of janey being a tart but that was in before but they over did it with season 9, 10, 11 and with the last episode they didn't do anything special either that was kinda sad to see since they named it "darts all folks" but in my opinion they should of ended the series at season 8 when they did the episode when Ben talks about retirement then he does but then at the end he gets his job back anyway but they should of ended it when Ben retired and kept it that way because the Christmas special was boring to watch Roger would just cry that abbie became a nun and that's all that happened after season 8 aswell shame that the series started of fabulous with good characters and great jokes then it just became repetitive jokes that wasn't even funny

Nick Harper made the show.. the entire series went downhill when he left.
The show was still good for a few more series. I think the show going downhill was more to do with it overstaying its welcome. The later episodes would have still been bad with Nick.
Disagree, it went downhill around season 8 when Abby left to become a nun. The last two seasons were awful
Philippe Hunt I think Series 9 was Ben driving the show and Michael being more arse as possible and Janey in the Mix... But Series 10/11 showed that it overstayed it’s welcome Even though i made it to the end and stood by it lmao
Yeah sad that he left because his aunt was calling him nick in real life he was annoyed with it and he also left because he said he didn't want to play a stoned loony forever but it was said somewhere that his aunt calling him nick tip him over the edge

I remember watching this show on PBS. I thought it was funny. I couldn't remember it until I rewatch Harry Potter recently and saw the mom in the show had play on Harry Potter. I now cannot find where to watch this after all these years trying to find the name of this show. Does anyone know where I can find this funny show?

No as it was filmed in front of a live audience unlike another British sitcom I was a big fan of even tho this one was ITV and not BBC, and that sitcom is My Parents are Aliens (the original Sophie from MPAA and the guy who played the Lion in Teletubbies make appearances in series 7 episode 2 of My Family)

I used to watch this first time around, when I had time. I have been watching the reruns, again when I have had time and have seen quite a lot of funny episodes that I didn't see before.
I have given up watching the reruns for the same reason I stopped watching the originals.
The show survived Janie being almost written out, but then survived Nick being written out - only because Janey was written back into more episodes along with Kenzo, the little boy fitting in very well as he grew older.
The end for me was when the sitcom went 'woke' with strongly hetero, very sharp witted Michael suddenly becoming gay.... and having a change of personality to becoming a simp. Okay, there have always been people who have appeared strongly hetero when they have been trying to convince themselves they are not gay or lesbian. Perhaps it would have been possible to get away with such a change. However, turning Michael into a simp whose lines were no longer quick witted? Was there a change of script writer/s? What a pity. It would have been better to for Michael to be written out and replaced by a nephew who was gay and a simp to have been written in.
When people come out as gay or lesbian, they don't change personality. Especially not so drastically. Even the very good acting of the parents, Janey and Kenzo could save it then.
Up until that point, it was a very funny comedy and credit to all for some good scripts and acting until such a vast change.
Kris Marshall giving that huge open smile of his would brighten up a room. He was also a good actor in his more serious role in "Death in Paradise". Put we don't see more of him in other shows, both comedies and serious. Very few actors can be both so well as he can.
Gabriel Thomson was also excellent in carrying off the quick wit - before the show went 'woke' and he was made into a simp. I hope he has the chance for such acting in another high profile tv or big stage show.
