Love Fee's brutal honesty. It seems he would rather have a good time than deal with all the drama.
Loved "shes a beauty" it reminds me of a very youthful time in 1983 and being in the Philippines as a military boy. Thank you Fee!
What a fantastic interview. You rarely see musicians speak with such honesty. Great to see Fee is a bright, grounded guy who still loves the music and performing.

Fee and The Tubes will forever be AWESOME! It's too bad Quentin Tarantino or David Lynch or P.T. Anderson couldn't get him into one of their flicks, as I think he'd be an awesome actor. Or at least be really funny. He's seen it all, he's done it all, and he keeps on keeping on. Too bad they got so screwed in Canada (4 times - Yeah, we suck alright! And on behalf of Maple Syrup, Back Bacon, and Quebecors wearing cowboy hats, I sincerely apologize) Rock it fully Fee!

With Bill Spooner imho the Tubes were at their best , regardless if they weren't selling records or popular . rule of thumb - big money and popular doesn't mean good .

Being from the Bay Area, The Tubes are like a local band to me. They always got airplay at home so the concept of a "hit" is kind of irrelevant. Appreciate the nod to Nash the Slash (RIP). I loved his work with FM.
Fee has a very wicked sense of humour, I don't believe he means all he says!
I saw these guys in the early days in Detroit. They were FUKKKKINGGREAT!!!!!! Then, I had the pleasure of jamming once at a San Francisco rehearsal studio with Rick Anderson. About 1983 or so. A great guy. But, I am sure he would NEVER remember me if he saw me!!

April Wine had some great tunes!
I wish Fee would come to Canada - I am Canadian, I'm not complaining! But I would show him such a good time he would never leave - That is how we Canadians build our country! People come here and don't fucking leave!! We try to send them back to the states but they won't go! Fee seems to have had a bad experience with "Canadians" who are from the USA! No surprise there. Nash the slash was very cool in his day - very clever, very few know what he looks like with out the bandages.Fee however doesn't sound like he knows this great land and doesn't care, but that's only because he doesn't know any better. And hey - some times this is a good thing - If you don't want to come here - we don't want you. But Fee is an exception I know many who would welcome the Tubes with open arms...But the clock IS ticking it's cold outside so I think I'll step out and grab another "cold one" don't tell anyone but that isn't a Maple leaf on our flag, and Canada has the best beer in the world!

Hey Fee, I like Heavy Metal and Death Metal, I’m an American and I consider myself to be intelligent, not a brain surgeon but fairly intelligent, I also listen to Classical, Jazz, Blues, Honky Tonk, you name it, a huge genre of music depending on my mood, so, there you have it, my thoughts. It’s all good though.
I loved the end of What Do you want from life.

Fee... sorry you had such a hard time with Canadian promoters, but John Candy is Canadian, as is Rick Moranis. I like some Tubes tunes, but ffsakes get it right. and btw, cutting down other artists will never make you look better.
I adored The Tubes since the late 70s! Then I met fee at a meet & greet post show signing. I sensed that negativity we see here in just a few seconds! Some may consider this guy as a bit of a vein person... He's just down right a ROTTEN PERSON. No respect for his fans. Or anybody in general.

Fee's a little (okay a lot) misinformed about Canada.
Everybody at SCTV (Edmonton) was Canadian! I remember shouting "Mr. LaRue" across the mall to John Candy. Every Monday, after class, we'd see him walk through campus. He'd wave, sometimes stop and talk for a couple minutes. He loved the CFL and they just stole Vince Ferragamo from the NFL. I digress but John was a prince.
Fee should bone-up on Canadian rockers before wielding the April Wine brush. If they're not your cup o' tea that's fair, but he shared a producer with Bryan Adams! Rush is widely respected, in the R&R Hall of Fame, and probably outsold him 100 to 1. Nash the Slash is every bit as groundbreaking and creative as The Tubes.There are great, diverse, (Beiber's a major embarrassment) Canadian acts out there so no one should pigeonhole The Great White North!
If anything Fee should be a little more introspective with regard to getting ripped-off in Canada. He should be looking to his management team with regard to bad contracts and cancelled gigs. Methinks that today his "management team" is named Fee Waybill.
That said he is a great guy with a great band! Canada forgives!
I became aware of The Tubes watching that SCTV episode. Sushi Girl stuck in my mind, and I bought the album.

Some brainy people like nerdy things like Planet of the Apes, the Twilight Zone, and.. THE TUBES... And some (nerdy) people enjoy heavy metal klichés.
LOL, laughed my ass off about his heavy metal comments. Tubes always 've been super-professional, highly talented musicians. Back in late 70s beginning 80s I was simply blown away by their style (way ahead of their time as many said here). Musically I came from Prog Rock, Jazz Rock and ZAPPA and have known they are a freakin awesome band in every way when I heared them from the first note on...thx for that, Tubes ;)

I'm a huge fan of the first 2 albums, saw the Tubes at Maple Leaf Gardens.Rough Trade and ZON opened for them.I used to love Fee, but after watching this interview my opinion has changed.
In my humble opinion you Canadians are a little hyper sensitive. Fee is the man, he just didn't have a good time in your country. Flippers won't even let me in there 'cause I got busted in California in the nineteen seventies!
