    Saab JAS 39C Gripen
The Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a single-engine, canard-delta-wing multi-role fighter, produced by the Swedish Saab AB (originally Svenska Aeroplan AB). It is the Swedish manufacturer’s candidate in the HX Fighter Program, aiming to replace the capabilities of the Finnish Air Force Hornets.
The development of the Gripen (“Griffin”) began already in the late 1970’s as the Swedish Air Force sought a successor for their outdating Saab J35 Draken and Saab J37 Viggen fighters. Saab responded by designing a new multi-role fighter - the name JAS is an abbreviation for Jakt(air-to-air)-, Attack(air-to-ground)- and Spaningsplan (reconnaissance plane). The aircraft flew its maiden flight in 1988, and it was introduced into operative use by the Swedish Air Force officially in 1997.
There are several versions of the Gripen available. The oldest version is JAS 39A, and its two-seat version JAS 39B. The newer C/D -versions were introduced in the 2000’s. In 2016 Saab unveiled the newest, Next Generation Gripen E/F -version.
In addition to Sweden, the Gripen is operated by the air forces of Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa and Thailand. Also British Empire Test Pilots’ School operates the aircraft to train their pilots in Linköping, Sweden. The Brazilian Air Force has also placed an order for 36 next-generation Gripen E/F -fighters, the aircraft are to be delivered between 2019 - 2024.
The Finnish Air Force first flew aircraft of the Swedish manufacturer in 1958, as Saab 91D Safir trainers were ordered for the basic pilot training of the Air Force. In 1970, the parliament decided to order Saab J35 Drakens to serve alongside the Soviet MiG-21’s. The Finnish Air Force also had two war-time Saab 17A bombers for a short period of time (1959 - 1961), which were used for towing shooting targets. The Gripen, then still in development, was also a candidate in the previous Fighter program in the turn of the 1980’s and 1990’s, to replace the MiG’s and Drakens - however, at that time the American Mc-Donnell-Douglas F/A-18 Hornet was chosen.
Ruotsin Ilmavoimat on vahvistanut osallistuvansa Turun lentonäytökseen kolmella Saab Gripen monitoimihävittäjällä. Turkuun saapuu kaksi yksipaikkaista Saab JAS39C Gripen taistelukonetta sekä kaksipaikkainen Saab JAS39D Gripen. Kaksipaikkainen Gripen on täysiverinen taistelukone ja nähtävissä maanäyttelyssä Saabin osastolla.
Gripenit saapuvat Turkuun Blekingen F17-lennostosta, joka sijaitsee Kallingessa Etelä-Ruotsissa. Ruotsin Ilmavoimien esityslentäjänä toimii Henrik Nyström, joka lentää sooloesityksen molempina näytöspäivinä.
Koelentovaiheessa oleva Gripen E on täysin uusi versio Gripenistä, vaikka ulkoisesti näyttääkin tutulta Gripeniltä. Koneen suorituskyky on noussut uudelle tasolle ja myös kooltaan Gripen E on hieman suurempi kuin Turun näytökseen tuleva nykyinen JAS39C Gripen eli Gripen C. Turun näytökseen tulevat Ruotsin Ilmavoimien Gripenit antavat hyvän kuvan Gripenin liikehtimiskyvystä kun Henrik Nyström käskyttää Gripeniään esityslennolla yleisön edessä.
Turku Airshow - June 15-16, 2019 is the main airshow event in Finland 2019. Airshow is organized by Turku Flying Club with support from Finnish Air Force and Finnish Aeronautical Association.
Turku Airshow is 100th Anniversary Airshow of Finnish Aeronautical Association (FAA).
FAA has 100th anniversary year 2019 and President of Finland Mr. Sauli Niinistö is the patron of the anniversary year.
Turku Airshow will honour the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Continuation War and the importance of air arm to Finnish Independence.
Also 2019 will be the 80th anniversary of the start of WWII when Winter War started.
Ilmailualan ykköstapahtuma Suomessa vuonna 2019, Suomen päälentonäytös ja Ilmailuliiton 100-vuotisjuhlalentonäytös järjestetään 15.-16. kesäkuuta 2019 Turun lentoasemalla. Tapahtuman järjestää Turun Lentokerho Ry, joka on järjestänyt mieleenpainuvia lentonäytöksiä jo vuodesta 1926!
Päälentonäytöksessä yleisöllä on ainutlaatuinen mahdollisuus kuulla suihkuhävittäjien jälkipolton jyrinää ja nähdä klassista taitolentoa, pelastushelikoptereita, muodostelmalentoa ja kokea ilmailun huumaa sen eri muodoissa.

All these Grippen pilots are beasts, they do that multiple times during the flight. It's amazing.

28 Degrees AOA limited with .8 Thrust-to-Weight? What’s not to like!

Its more like 0.97. The E model has around 1.1

@@thetrolle I've done the detailed math on it down to every pylon, the Mauser cannon, feed system, ammo, and different weapons configurations at 50% fuel state. It's under-powered in every one, even with just an A2A load.

@@LRRPFco52 Did you calculate it with the f404 thrust figures or the rm12? The volvo flygmotor-version has more thrust than the regular f404. Also in atleast Gripen A-C there are a war-config on maximum engine thrust output. What that does is anyones guess im afraid. How much additional thrust is required to reach. 97?

    • @LRRPFco52
      @LRRPFco52 3 роки тому

@@thetrolle I calculated both Gripen C/F404 and Gripen E/F414. Gripen E is a heavier, larger airframe so it doesn't help the ratio much unless you play with a slick configuration with no gun, no ammo, no pylons but wingtips, less than 50% internal fuel. Volvo Flygmotor assembles modules from GE. Sweden has zero capability in building High Pressure Turbine cores, and never has been able to even approach that.
