Just got home from dentist with a deep cleaning and scaling. Hygienist used gel topical anesthesia on the gums. This procedure isn't nearly as bad as it looks. Don't overthink this people: Save your teeth and take care of your gums.
Yeah ur just told to brush ur teeth and floss but most parents buy cheap tooth brushes, barley take u to the dentist and ur never told how to brush ur teeth properly either, most of dental problems are probably in the gums,
Just had this procedure done on half of my mouth! I’m fighting periodontal disease back!!! I have slight mobility in my teeth and bone loss too but until your teeth are starting to fall out….it’s never to late to fight back with your dentist
@@RileyDowell-dg7mp I’m not gonna sugar coat it…id rather have to have another root canal than to go thru this cleaning again!!! It is not comfortable but you have to do something about periodontal disease cause if you don’t your teeth will start to fall out over time!!! They numb you considerably it’s just for me I’m not a very easy numbing patient!!! I feel a lot of things most patients don’t even after anesthetics
It's called a deep cleaning and I just had my first round done today.. I made sure my dentist numbed my mouth first. I only felt a little pressure not any pain. It's been 6 hrs since my procedure and I'm feeling a little bit discomfort now since the Lido has worn off but my mouth feels and smells so much better. My insurance through my job covered the entire procedure which will be 3 rounds. My out of pocket co pay was only $50 for the entire procedure. Round 2 tomorrow. I will from this day forward take care of my teeth and my gums.
I was just told today that I had gum disease. I thought the swelling was from my braces. I was wrong. Orthodontist told me that if my gums don't improve after the deep cleaning he'll have to remove my braces so my teeth don't fall out. I'm scared as hell.
I was terrified. But am now so thankfully I had it completed in 2 appointments. 8 weeks later and my mouth feels so much better. I will never let my mouth get this bad again. This procedure was completely painless. Only think I felt was the initial needle for the numbing.
Im currently suffering from a loose tooth due to periodontist. Have you seen any improvement in your gums ? have they started to heal back to your teeth?
Mayowa Odude. Being very honest. Yes I have seen a big difference. My gum color is better than its ever been. I also have not had any more migraines since having the procedure done. I am so greatful I had it done. Let me know how it goes
Rob Long I had the probing done...I've been having some of the worst headaches...did not know the aching could contribute to it. my appointment is next week for the removal
Mo Webster. Prior to having this done I had been having really bad migraines for well over A yr. Since having it done I have not even had a simple headache.
Just got the right side of my mouth done today. Procedure wasn’t that bad. Feeling some soreness in my gums now but overall, not terrible by any stretch. Going back in 2 weeks to finish the left side.
LISTEN EVERYBODY! I'm 15..I didn't have much tartar and my teeth are very weak..So I went for a scaling and polishing according to ny dentist's recommendation! I must say,she was extremely gentle with my teeth..I didn't feel any pain and not a single drop of blood came out! But I felt a slight pain on my sensitive tooth but that can't be counted as pain I guess! And now I have totally clean and polished teeth! I think it was my best decision to get this done! AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! If u have tartar, please go for this treatment ASAP..As less tartar you'll have,as less pain you'll feel! But don't let that bacteria build up on your teeth.. Otherwise you'll loose all your teeth like the patient sitting next to me had! So please don't ignore it and get it done at least once in a year! May all of u and I be blessed with a good dental health! 😊❤
Sonya Jones had my first treatment done a week ago without anesthetic. Wasn't bad at all. My gums were a little sore a day later. Dentist said he has to go deeper into my gums next time.
Sonya Jones can I get this procedure with my medical & whats the treatment call because i have periodontitis but I'm not sure what treatment to get from the doctor??? Please help.😔
this makes me a little more at ease but its sad that my teeth are messed up so much because of not being able to go to the dentist and little me was lazy af😅
To anyone watching this. I had stage 1 and 2 gum disease. They didn’t numb me up, took me about 2 hours, and it honestly wasn’t that painful at all. Don’t delay. Your gums won’t grow back, don’t be an idiot like me and get it addressed asap
Flossing is important guys. Brushing your teeth is not enough because your not getting the bacteria trapped in your gums. Just went to the dentist today and my teeth are perfect because I brush my teeth but below my gums are not. I’m lucky I decided to finally get a dentist to make sure my teeth are fine because caught this before it could do even more damage to my teeth and gums. I only have 4 bottom teeth starting to go into the the bad range. Definitely getting this procedure done so I don’t lose my teeth and definitely going to floss like crazy after this procedure to prevent this nasty bacteria from building below my teeth and in my gums.
Had this done today. Some parts where uncomfortable it it’s completely worth it because it can lead to gum disease if you don’t get this stuff off your teeth
@@StayTrue1710 no that’s not true. Mine wasn’t this bad as the illustration shows. I had gingivitis which is now gone because I had this done and I floss at night now. No bleeding and my gums are healthy and pink and not swollen anymore.
I have a huge phobia of the dentist but it can't be that bad. Think of how far down the floss goes. And also they numb you.. A dental phobia will go away when your teeth get to a bad enough point. Dont let that happen tho. Face your fears before you lose everything
I had it done today in Spain, it's not too bad .. you have to get anesthetic though. they did one half of my mouth then the other half same day. Each session took about 1hour 30 mins or so.
I had the exact thing last week. My gum was swelling like hell and yellow pus kept coming out. They did deep scaling on me (after antibiotics prescription) and now the swollen gum is gone!
Damn i got a bit of swollen gums but it was not easy to recognize the dentist told me about it and i have to get deep cleaning did you get injections and if you did how many and did it hurt?
Meet Violate the dentist said the swollen comes from old tartar that allows bacteria to grow inside it. Hence, the yellow pus. So after cleaning, the swollen gum is gone just after 1-2 days. I didn't get any injections so i just had to bear with it. It was indeed uneasy for a few hours after the cleaning. I couldn't eat anything hard at first so i ate mashed potato only then at night i started to eat normally.
I use to get deep cleanings every 3 months. I always felt go good afterwards! My Hygienist always had my dentist give me novacain so I never felt pain. The next morning I whould be a little sore but thats it. Periodontal disease is no Joke! It starts off as Gingivitis and the last stage is Periodontal. I eventually lost my battle with this horrible gum disease and had all my teeth extracted! I'm happy I never have to go through what I went through again!
If you're brave enough, you can get this done without local anesthetic. I had bad peridontal disease at one time, but my gums healed very well. I take care of my teeth better now and I can get this procedure done every six months without being numb, the whole mouth!
I have very bad peridintil disease i have dentol phobia there no way im having injection numb my mouth i been 3 times dental to have deep cleaning done hust befour having it done i skip my severe anxiaty i start feeling sick dizzy then im sent home withour any treatment dont kbow what to do im loosing bone too in no time all my teeth going to fall out i was told 2018 to have deep cleaning i cant sleep i dont kbow what to do im 53
Farida, you need to get the treatment done. I have the same problem at one time. I didn't take care of my teeth. It's not as bad as you assume. Just relax in the chair and let the dentist the do the work needed to be done. If you don't get this done, it can go into your heart and cause severe problems big time.
Yeah this is crazy my adult tooth is lose and definitely feeling deep pockets on the other teeth. Gums are mad sensitive too. I'm never going to let this happen again after treatment. Tooth pain can be unbearable. Head is pounding.
I need this done to my teeth. My teeth are so bad because I couldn't afford to go to the dentist. But now with my husband being in the military we can afford it. So I will be very happy when my taken get taken care of next month.
I've been very lucky to see the same dentist since I was 12, now I'm 38. I took great care of my teeth, but I started slacking off. I just got this procedure done, but she only did the top left side though, and I have another 3 months to get the bottom left side done. She's only doing it in sections every 3 months so I hope the top left side doesn't build up more plaque and tartar again before my next procedures.😫 After my gums heal, I'm going to floss and brush religiously. I forgot how important it is to take care of my teeth an gums.😔 This procedure is expensive so I can't afford to let this happen again.
@@visualcycles I have epilepsy, so I take Dilantin (Phenytoin) and it causes gingival hyperplasia. That's why my dentist said I should get this procedure done.
G@@visualcycles when my gums started swelling my teeth were getting loose because plaque an tartar were trapped inside. My dentist asked if I wanted a gigivectomy, I said that I really didn't want parts of my gums removed. I asked if there were more options and she said that maybe a root planing could work to strengthen my gums, as long as I kept up on them. My gums are a lot stronger now.👍
after that i got 2 weeks to go bck and check on how my gums doing.. i actually see and feel my gums healthy now.. but yes you will have to keep up with your dentists..
I just got mine done today, they gave me injections of Anaesthesia into my gums so I didn’t feel anything because my gum disease was quit bad and very very tender to even just touch my gums, it didn’t hurt the procedure I couldn’t feel my entire face for like 5 hours after though. The anaesthesia has only just worn off and my gums and mouth feel a little bruised and tender but that’s about it
Did your gums bleed a lot ? I have periodontal disease on my bottom gums, 😭😭 and I need to get this done but I’m so scared that there will be so much blood and my teeth will become so lose 😩
Sickle cell & Avascular necrosis have caused me to lose half of the front of my teeth. I hate looking like this over something a blood & bone disease did to me.. I just wish I could get it fixed already!!!!
Its about an hour treatment and they actually let you rest for several minutes. this is very important to get this done, or i wouldve lost my teeth in several years without the treatment.. i went to west coast dental and if you have a debit card, you can actually leave a deposit and they will have an automatic pay out of your account.. ask you dentist, hopefully you can get it done. Good luck 😊
Congratulations on your "Treatment Of Periodontist Disease - Scaling And Root Planing - Tartar" inspirational thanks for sharing. Morine, Janet, Kerry & Dr L Yasin. 😁
I had this done because I had nothing else needed and had $1500 insurance to spend that year. Had no loose teeth, no blood, no headache, no problems.....1 year and 3 months after it, all 4 of my upper teeth broke off at the gum line leaving me with the 2 front teeth. The dentist "cosmetically enhanced" those 4 teeth during the 2 day procedure for some reason because they looked beautiful when done and I remember seeing the blue light several times. devastating
My gums bleed moderately sometimes when I brush/and or floss and I’m trying to fix this ASAP I’ve made the mistake of not caring about my oral health for a long time but I’ve been trying to get rid of it for a few months now and my dentist says I’ve been lacking in brushing still Regardless, Will this really help? I was recommended to a periodontist and I’m thinking of asking him to show me how to brush unfortunately because for some reason I’m doing it wrong I feel ashamed But can anyone attest to this and say that it actually works? How soon did u see the improvement How long did it hurt and feel sensitive afterwards? Thank you all!
Hi..im suffering with gum disease for years now..mu dentist referred me to see a hygenist in 2017..after three sessions of root planning and scalling as shown on the video my gums stopped bleeding completely and they were in a very healthy condition..my pockets measured 0mm after and i thought my problem was completely gone..i didnt see my hygenist again and 2 months ago i started to see bleeding on my gums again when i brush..i quickly rang the surgery and booked for appointment with my hygenist..my pockets were deeper than i expected..so i had this treatment again about a month ago and i feel much difference than before again. In terms of pain yes it will hurt after the numbness is gone but ibrofen or paracetamol will ease the pain..you wont be able to eat properly for about 2 to 3 days..and after a week u will be back to normal again and your mouth will feel more fresher..the treatment works but u need to see ya hygenist often to control it..if you stop visiting than the disease will come back..i hope this will help
Most of the time when dentists say you brush incorrectly, it's because they can detect plaque on your teeth. Especially on the cervical area or where the gum margin is. Failure to remove plaque in this area will cause bacteria to grow exponentially and cause gingival inflammation as shown in the video. The solution is not only brushing vertically, but also make sure that the tip is pushed against the cervical area of the teeth so that it can remove the plague. Most patients just brush vertically without applying adequate force required for brush tip to remove cervical plague. Just google "disclosing dye" and it will show you the common areas where it's not properly cleaned. And you guessed it: cervical area.
Another thing to keep in mind is to brush correctly as to not damage the gum. You should brush in only one direction. And that is to start from the gum margin and then brush up on the tooth surface. You shouldn't avoid brushing the areas where the gum bleeds. The reason it bleeds is because you fail to remove plaque in those areas. Edit: You should use brush with medium softness. Too soft and it won't remove plague. Too hard and it will damage your gums.
After getting treatment from a periodontist, you should see results in less than a week. Your gum will have less inflammation and the bleeding should stop. Provided that you brush correctly as instructed. They will have your calculus removed by scaling your teeth. Calculus is caused by prolonged retention of plaque and accumulation of bacteria. After that they should instruct you how to brush and take care of your oral health, as to prevent calculus from building up again.
I just had this done today, it was an hour didrt feel any pain at all. i was more nervous then anything , i worked out a low deposit and low payments. thats the only way i wouldve done this today😆 feeling clean!
I am scheduled for this exact procedure to be done In a few weeks. I'm so not looking forward to it and wish i took better care of my teeth throughout my teens and early adult years. (I'm 29 now.) My deepest pocket is measured at 6mm. Because of Periodontitis is only treatable, not curable, is this stage of gum disease permanent, as in it just stays with you and have to consistently monitor it? I've read this stage of gum disease can lead to heart disease, which does rin in my family genetics and THAT alone, scares the living crap out of me. In fact, the risk is 3X greater. 😔
The objetive of treating periodontal disease is to stabilize it. You will always have a genetically tendency to it. The most important part is to have a daily proper hygiene, besides the treatment at the dentist.
Found out I had periodontitis and have to get this done, they call it a “ deep cleaning “ , I’m honestly not happy with myself that I let my gums get to that point. I was ignorant but now I have to live with it Hopefully after they clean them they retract a little bit cause I’m not too fond of the gaps , but I still smile just not all the way.

I think I go to the dentist by February need to get this fix before gets worst. the read on why I'm gonna wait that long is because my insurance just signed up.and I have to wait lol.
I was told I have this. Described as gum disease. I was also told it wedges between the bone and the tooth and basically pushes the tooth out. I was also told it's now bacteria eating away at the bone and this isn't reversible. Is any of this correct, as your video just shows/mentions the gums and not really about destroying your bone.
i have been referred to a gum specialist by my dentist because they arent trained for the procedure.. im guessing this is the sort of treatment ill be referred for? my dentist said luckily its caught early

@@Dentalk What should we do for bone loss under the root canal treated molar tooth ? Never had pain for 18 years after RCT, but discoloration is visible. Xray shows bone loss under the tooth.
I had this procedure done today under general anaesthetic on my right side. All my teeth were strong before the procedure but now two molars on the bottom side are now loose. I am scheduled to have the left side done next week but I am thinking of not doing it next week until I see the two molars get stronger again as I was told they will get stronger with time. I am confused 😕 now.
They’re loose feeling because depending on how deep your pockets were and the gum disease advancement, this might be much deeper than you expected looking at your mouth. I felt that too the first time. My dentist also warned me my teeth might “look big” when they heal and reattach to the base of your teeth (which is why you feel this looseness, between your gums and teeth had bacterial buildup acting similar to a glue of sorts) since the inflammation will be reduced. I’ve had my gums scaled twice again since as part of my six month cleaning and that loose feeling goes away when your gums heal and your overall oral health improves. Be sure to floss thorough, majority of the time bleeding w flossing is NOT from being rough but because of gum inflammation from disease, which only gets better when you don’t let that bacteria/tartar/plaque build up. Each scaling since has been less extreme feeling. Get the procedure done if you need it.
@@victoriabrown4727 Actually after a few days, the loose molars were getting firm. Great improvement. So, I went back the following week to have the other side done too. I floss my teeth every day and I also use mouthwash to kill any bacteria in between my teeth everyday b4 bedtime. It's now one month since the procedure was done and my teeth are so good. My gum pockets healed very well, no bleeding of gums and all the teeth are strong and white. I am happy that I did it.
@@winniekarundu7852 hey just wondering if when the gums tightened if you noticed a reduction with your gums and their placement around your teeth like they pulled back leaving black triangles
I was told I have periodontal diseases because some measurements came out to be 5 or 6 mm. Can I avoid tooth loss in the future by taking better care of my teeth at home and making my regular dentist visits? Is tooth loss supposed to be inevitable once you have gum disease?
Yes you can prevent its development in most of the caaes my performing the necessary treatment and taking care of your oral hygiene, among other specific recommendations for your case
I had this just week ago. I went to the dentist because there is a pus coming out between my teeth (lower front teeth) and gums whenever I press my gums. I had a panoramic x-ray before that and there's no tooth decay. My gums doesn't have pocket of pus, their not swelling or bleeding. But still whenever I press my gums there's still pus coming out between teeth and gums. My dentist said I need gum surgery to scrape my bone and allow bleeding, because blood helps to kill bacteria which causes the pus. I still didn't had the gum surgery because I'm scared..
Pain wasn't bad? I have to have it done in 2 days. I'm super nervous. Did they give you numbing shots or put you under? They didn't tell me much about it at all my last visit.
+carlielaynee No I didn't get the needle injection but they did put some numbing gel on my gums. Even though the needle injection hurts I think it works way better than the gel but I did feel it a little bit but its not bad at all, you can handle it👍🏾 if you feel any pain just ask for more gel . Good luck!
Yes absolutely this procedure worths the expense. The goal is to treat a disease that can lead to losing teeth in the future, which will be much more expensive to replace those teeth.
Hi, please help. I will have this procedure done next week and my Dentist said we don't have to take any anesthesia for the numbing. It will be fine without it she said, would it really be a painless procedure?
Depending on the person it may or may not need anesthesia, but you can ask your dentist to put local anesthesia so you can get this procedure done more comfortably
Riley Chase Fuck that shit. Iv had a clean done with no anasthesia, i was bleeding, sweating and tears were coming out my eyes, after the clean i had fever and did not get out of bed for teo days. The dentist lady who did it was fit though
Depending on the extent of the disease it could be enough. For advanced gum disease a surgical treatment is usually performed, some dentists use laser to perform the treatment and other the clasic surgical treatment.
Had this done recently. It sucked! My hygienist also went back and “touched up” the other half which fucked sucked balls! The blot clots were also oh so dandy…
I did the left side today an numbing gel was used along with something else but it was a needle some sore ness and couldn’t really eat on that side but doing the right side TOMORROW!!! wish me luck 😭😭😭
Went for an examination today for this and it's $1147 $588 each side..hoping my insurance will cover something if not maybe a payment plan I can do..my teeth have been sensitive lately and have calcified build up in the back of my teeth.

To anyone watching this. I had stage 1 and 2 gum disease. They didn’t numb me up, took me about 2 hours, and it honestly wasn’t that painful at all. Don’t delay. Your gums won’t grow back, don’t be an idiot like me and get it addressed asap
I've heard gums and bone loss don't grow back..but did this help at all?
Bre I prefer to rinse with mouthwash. That gets everywhere.
How was it
Buy a water flosser 65 bucks
Had this done today. Some parts where uncomfortable it it’s completely worth it because it can lead to gum disease if you don’t get this stuff off your teeth
What you talking about? If you need this treatment you've got a bad case of gum disease already.
Thank you. This helps ease my fear. Great job on the video!
+mascottie Thank you!
I have to have this procedure done in September, I'm so afraid but this video helps to ease some of my fears. Thank you

Dont be fooled . It fucking hurts like fuck
If you're brave enough, you can get this done without local anesthetic. I had bad peridontal disease at one time, but my gums healed very well. I take care of my teeth better now and I can get this procedure done every six months without being numb, the whole mouth!

Farida, you need to get the treatment done. I have the same problem at one time. I didn't take care of my teeth. It's not as bad as you assume. Just relax in the chair and let the dentist the do the work needed to be done. If you don't get this done, it can go into your heart and cause severe problems big time.

I had this done because I had nothing else needed and had $1500 insurance to spend that year. Had no loose teeth, no blood, no headache, no problems.....1 year and 3 months after it, all 4 of my upper teeth broke off at the gum line leaving me with the 2 front teeth. The dentist "cosmetically enhanced" those 4 teeth during the 2 day procedure for some reason because they looked beautiful when done and I remember seeing the blue light several times. devastating
My gums bleed moderately sometimes when I brush/and or floss and I’m trying to fix this ASAP
I’ve made the mistake of not caring about my oral health for a long time but I’ve been trying to get rid of it for a few months now and my dentist says I’ve been lacking in brushing still
Regardless, Will this really help? I was recommended to a periodontist and I’m thinking of asking him to show me how to brush unfortunately because for some reason I’m doing it wrong
I feel ashamed
But can anyone attest to this and say that it actually works? How soon did u see the improvement
How long did it hurt and feel sensitive afterwards?

I had this done this week. Two visits. First visit was pretty quick, but the second took a little longer.
I was ignorant but now I have to live with it

1. Not brushing behind teeth
2. Brushing too hard.
mr k damage started when I obsessively used tooth pick
And harsh brushing were the true cause 😭😭
I was told I have this. Described as gum disease. I was also told it wedges between the bone and the tooth and basically pushes the tooth out. I was also told it's now bacteria eating away at the bone and this isn't reversible. Is any of this correct, as your video just shows/mentions the gums and not really about destroying your bone.
Unfortunately it is true. The damage is irreversible. Luckily you can stop it from progressing and place it into remission instead of active phase.

Literally I am watching this and I'm so concintrated I'm giving my angry look

I had that done I had him treatment my gums were bad people don't know candy and not brushing yo teeth after you it that stuff hurt you in long run
So after the treatment ends the gums "collapse" towards the tooth's, filling the gap between the plague and the tooth???
When the gums heal, they shrink towards the space that was contaminated with tartar and bacteria, and the inflammation reduction also affects.
Just got all four quadrants done earlier today it wasn't so bad and the aftermath turned out pretty good my gums aren't swollen at all
