38 years later still holds the title of the greatest live performance in rock history. Freddie was a complete master of crowd control. There were 72,000 people there that day, and Freddie had them in the palm of his hand. Each artist that day had a 20 minute set...all too artists ..Bowie, McCartney, U2, Elton John etc...they all agreed Queen completely stole the show. Also thus was Freddie on a bad day. He had issues with a throat infection the week before, and his doctor advised him against playing.❤️👑🎤🥁🎹🎸

Queen was the best of the best band in the world. Their hard work, ambition and pure drive, supreme confidence and vision paid off. (Original) Queen and Freddie’s legacy will live on forever. Love your reaction, your mic and air guitar!

Freddie was told by a doctor not to sing as he had a bad throat but Queen did and smashed it. Apparently Freddie said it was like gargling with glass. Each act had a set time of approx 15 - 20 minutes and if they went over that they were cut off. Queen did the most songs and finished exactly on time.

Great reaction! Poor Freddie had w throat infection and was advised by his doctors to not perform. He ignored them and made history. I would suggest watching the ‘86 Wembley concert. Incredible performance 💛

It wasn’t only Queen who realized they had been sensational. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star.
“Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, because they could connect with an audience.”
An estimated audience of 1.9 billion, in 150 nations, watched the live broadcast, nearly 40 percent of the world population.

Queen had 1/3 of the world watching this concert which they performed for free to help the famine in Ethiopia that was horrific. There were many great performances that day but nobody as energetic, professional and charismatic as Queen. They really amazed the world that day! I remember dancing all over my den while listening to Freddie sing along with thousands of people in Wembley Stadium from my tv in the USA. This is the day Queen music became woven into the fabric of the world forever. What talent!

As someone else said, they understood the assignment. They were a last minute addition. They were given 20 minutes and picked hits and crowd participation songs. They were all talented and a tight band after over a decade of concerts. They were the champions of the concert.

This concert went all day long and was going on in London (Wembley Stadium) and in Philadelphia. They would alternate from one to the other so that there was time to set up the next band at one stadium while another band was performing in Philly and vice/versa. Each band was allowed 20 minutes for their set and the entire concert was broadcast around the world. Everyone I knew tuned into it. It was a great day. Queen was a highlight and the most powerful performance of the day. Freddie had a knack for amping up the crowd and on this day he showed up filled with incredible energy and immediately got the crowd engaged.

    QUESTION….
DURING “HAMMER TO FALL”, DID YOU EDIT OUT A SECTION OF THE SONG???🧐 BECAUSE THE WHOLE SECOND VERSE WHERE FREDDIE’S DANCING WITH THE CAMERAMAN… IS. MISSING!
(If you did NOT edit it out yourself, then that means that someone has “taken” Mundo do Rock’s video - without permission - and SHORTENED it! …Which, I did notice the screen looked different; I just thought that Mundo Do Rock had uploaded a new version.)
…If you did NOT edit the video to be shorter, COULD YOU PLEASE GIVE THE SOURCE - THE CHANNEL - where you watched it from? (So Mundo do Rock can be given the info.)

@@26shedanI’m pretty sure (actually 100% sure) - regarding the 20-minute Live Aid set - that there is NOT a video (of the full 20-minute set in-one-piece; there may be pieces of it?) …on Queen’s official channel. This is probably because it would be considered the property of Live Aid.
BUT… I’m also pretty sure (not 100%, but “pretty” sure) that - for some reason - there is also NOT a full video all-in-one-piece, of Queen’s 20-minute-set, on the official Live Aid YT channel. (I have NO idea why… but I’ve NEVER seen one. I’m assuming they have the songs performed, “in chunks” tho.)
HOWEVER… The official Live Aid YT channel is the ONLY place where there IS a video of Freddie & Brian’s Live Aid ENCORE (“Is This The World We Created?”) that they did later in the evening.🖖
