- I decided to go with the Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 System for my #ETCGDadsTruck engine. I liked that it was a ‘complete system in a box’ that I could adjust from the drivers seat via the supplied tablet.
I hope this video gives you some insight into what you’ll find inside the box of an Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 system.

@@anthonyroller8175 Thank you!
We installed the other version of this unit on a 67 Chevelle SS. 496 ci 13.5:1 compression. System has the tunnel ram style manifold, and absolutely doesn't miss a beat. Very nice kit. Well thought out design and does exactly what it is meant to do. The Chevelle is also an E85 fuel so, no issues at all. Only needed to increase the injector size a bit to compensate.
Definitely good stuff!
I had occasion to use a wide variety of aftermarket engine parts/assemblies while in business - and there are very VERY few products that are consistently made correctly, fit correctly, assembled correctly, are ready to install out of the box, and perform as advertised, and one of those few companies that deliver as promised is EDELBROCK!
Well done ETCG!
Looks like a great system. I was considering the Holley MPFI system for my SBC but at half the cost I am now considering the Edelbrock system.
I’m falling in love with this EFI. I think I can go for it in a near future.
Looks pretty sweet there Eric!
What a kit!! Thanks for the video.
Looking forward to the installation!
In a way it's already been installed. ua-cam.com/video/h7qowMqZXRA/v-deo.html
@@ericthecarguy weird. The order of videos is all out whack and it’s messing with my head. I can’t believe I’m so late to the ETCG party. Glad I finally found you though.
Great video!!!! Now to watch the install on your Dads truck!!! 👍🏻as always!!!
Cool video. Ive always wanted one of those for my mid 70s small block chevy.
Edelbrock seriously needs to rethink their packaging within the box. I was so surprised that you didnt have any damage to the fuel rails during shipping when you pulled the box top off. Some dense foam or something that would would keep the intake from moving around inside the box.
I ordered rotors last week and UPS had to send them back due to damage during shipping before I even received them. Seriously, damaged rotors?
I do like these unboxing videos.
Edelbrock make nice quality stuff, back in the day ive seen more than a few of their Carter clone 4 barrel carbs and they were so easy to set up and tune especially with the electric choke. Holley on the other hand seemed to be way more finicky and always seemed to require re-jetting and lots of playing around to get them running right. Far as I know these Edelbrock intake setups are easy to get going and are virtually trouble free once set up. What a well thought out nicely engineered setup.
That would be nice under the Christmas tree.
the distributor , the olympic flame for petrol heads
$1800 is just the start, You need a fuel system for efi, regulator, pump relay, 10 micron filter, wires, -6 fittings, and the list goes on and on. So far Im into it $3500! There is a lot they don't mention
Unless your vehicle is already equipped with it
A caixa super gigante parabéns pelo vídeo canal cada vez mais crescendo cada vez mais
I miss your videos Eric. I hope you start back up soon.
Nice intake Eric cant wait to see the performance of that that when all said and done one the ETCGDads Truck ....
Another EFI project!
Eric, Dad’s Truck is cool as F*ck. Fine build and you should be proud.
Thanks!
I can’t wait to see how it performs.
I'm concerned that there was no packing material whatsoever around the intake. There' was LOTS of room for that thing to bounce around inside that box. That's probably why the plastic ripped off the one side. I hope everything is 100% ok Eric.
just ordered the same kit for myself
Perfect 🎉
$1800. What does everyone think of the price? Of the top of my head that doesn't seem like a bad price. Plus the convenience factor of knowing it's all new and it works together.
I thought it’s more expensive after watching this video, considering the amount of stuff and the quality.
Price is 100% on point for what you get.
1/2 the cost of a similar Holley system 👍🏼
Just ordered mine
Now we're talking! Proper PFI. Even the dizzy doesn't look too bad, although obviously a trigger wheel and coil pack for wasted or even sequential spark would be nice.
If it were all 100% Made in USA, the price would be $3k without a tablet
But wait, put that check book away!
Also included, zip ties!
Very nice unboxing Eric
I bet your dad fell in love with this truck again
@ericthecarguy hey just seen your picture on the entrepreneur wall at rosedale. Im in Engines now .. Love the channel man.. #respect
Rosedale helped get me where I am today. Great school. Good luck with your career.
@ericthecarguy definitely man thanks
That looks nice, currently fighting with '85 Mercury's 302 CFI system
my condolences
Wow , I like it 😢❤
I went with the fitech power adder 600 to save a few hundred bucks.
It has fought me left and right since day one.
It either randomly doesn't want to start, or won't run after it initially fires. Without touching the settings, its behavior changes from day to day.
I'm afraid I'll have to take the hit and pick one of these edelbrocks up soon.
What?! no Edelbrock sticker for the back window?
🤷♂️
Ed Poisson i5 comes with stickers lol
Nice product by Edelbrock so lets see it installed .....

That manifold setup looks f*cking sweet! I want this system for my 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS5 but I am not sure if it will clear the cowl induction hood with that single plane manifold. Maybe a smaller air cleaner? I really enjoy your videos Eric, great job.
Hey Eric, what are you using the control your 4L60E transmission? Maybe I have missed in a video where you mention this but unless I am mistaken the Pro Flo 4 systems do not have transmission management built in. MSD module maybe?
My thoughts exactly, getting vortec heads for my tbi 350 and was thinking about going this route. Was going to go with a Holley Sniper or Terminator but this seems much simpler and more cost effective. But idk how the transmission is going to work if there is no place to hook it up, unless the ECU or harness have a place to plug it up.
@@iDrive4fun93 I noticed after I asked the question, but in the video he has an MSD transmission controller mounted in the engine bay. Standalone transmission controller.
TripleTapHK awesome, thanks. Guess he would have needed that in the first place if he was running a 4l60e on a carbureted engine, idk why I didn’t think of that before lol
TripleTapHK for the price of the Edelbrock and MSD transmission controller, you could get a Holley Terminator which has its own ECU, TCM, and programmer all in one system. But then you would need a compatible intake manifold I guess.
Nice Acer Tablet they provided
Hi Eric. I can’t find the video where you has installed the EFI System. Can you you put a link here please ❤🎉
I have got to get one for my 78 Lincoln
Hey Erik, planning on doing any LS swaps soon?
At some point yes. The LS makes stupid power cheap. It's time I embrace that. However, I have sooooo many projects I want to do. It's hard to decide what direction to take. It'd be a lot easier if I had an editor. That way I could focus more on shop work rather than spending a bunch of time editing stuff. It takes forever. Thanks for the comment.
Very nice kit
Is only one o2 sensor enough?
the one for vortec heads is even sexier
sweet googaly moogaly; pretty cool looking Eric; thanks for sharing.
That distributor is nice
Lol at the ECU being in bottom of box instead of in the tray
„from foreign and domestic parts“ ...Is guess that tablet is a foreign „part“
Thanks for the video, Eric! I'd really really love to hear your thoughts on how well this system worked. What did you like? What did you not like? Any recommendations for other people who might use this system? Even just a quick few minutes of you sitting and talking to the camera about your thoughts on this system would be great. Thanks again! I love the Dad's Truck project.
I plan to make a follow up video about all the parts I've installed on the truck at the end of the series. I will be going over my experiences with this system in that video. Thanks for your comment.
Very nice edelbrock
There’s an App for that!
The tablet can be used as a phone if it has wifi and or a cell connection by installing an appropriate application such as Skype
SWEET !
Very nice manifold
Very impressive purchase Eric..... I love the looks of that intake. What mpg do you get in the truck with all this? Super Awesome!!
Dad said he was getting about 16mpg when driving on the Power Tour.
@@ericthecarguy I was hoping this would offer 25 mpg.
I'd also be worried about the workbench scratching the intake manifold or messing with the clean shiny part...
Hey Ik this comments a lil late, hoping someone will see it and be able to help me out, I was looking at getting this and putting it in my 89 350 only thing is it’s says it’s only for pre 1986 obviously you made it work I was just wondering how much wiring you had to do and how hard it was thanks
Thanks Eric for including the links for the fuel pump and fuel pressure PSI regulator. Is the fuel pump external I hope?
Seems edelbrook sent this to every youtuber
Great video! Would you mind posting which fuel filter and sparkplug wires you used for this Pro Flo4 build?
I thought you went with the Holley EFI system again... I done did watch every #ETCGDadsTruck... at least 2-4 times
So it's been a year how is this thing holding up? I'm interested in getting one.
Great video! Did you have to change out existing camshaft?
Ermahgod you say it wrong Eric!!! It’s not elderbrock. Edelbrock!!!!
lol, chalk it up to major sleep deprivation. A t-shirt that looks like an Edelbrock logo but says Elderbrock would be funny.
This intake could help an lt1 guy put a overhead supercharger on top huh?
the progressive linkage may have been an effort to replicate the intake honk of a four barrel perhaps? that is quite thw signature sound for a rod engine. average retail numbers... all in one kits are like 7-11's being convenience stores with the wallet hit at 3am. good morning.
Gizmo Thewytchdoktor actually the SBC only needs the secondaries for WOT conditions.
Great unboxing/unbagging video!
Question...what is the measurement from the bottom of the manifold (where it meets the china-rail) to the top of the throttle body (where the air cleaner mounts)? Just want to make sure I have enough room under my stock hood. Thanks!!
Me too on the staples. Me too.
Het Eric good video on your dads truck. How is this system doing after some time of using it? Thanks for any feed back.
Eric,any updates on this system?
Would appreciate your opinion
Wondering could I ditch my spider injection, restrictive intake, and weak mini injectors for one of these setups and wake up my 97 Vortec 2 door tahoe a bit🤔? Definitely looks like a nice piece.
The issue would be that our system would not work with your stock dash or anything. Why we recommend this for later model vehicles but it would work on a 97 Vortec.
Understood. So I’d need a separate trans controller, would a Dakota digital fix my dash issue? You guys products are the best!!! Are there plans In the works for a similar system that would be compatible with my truck.
Just ls swap it
The look in his eyes says he had been cut before😏
This and the auto trans control box have me hoping there is something for my Jeep. '05 and '06 Wranglers can have major issues with there ECU/TCU combo.
I put this system on my ford 445 FE, the fuel pressure sending unit is about useless, cause on the tablet it reads 138 psi, I called and they told me that it’s not the correct pressure and not to be concerned about it if it was running correctly, I had a few issues getting the idle right, I’m thinking it was probably due to the radical cam, also I used their self contained fuel slump system, nice system, but i had to run a vent line to the fuel tank. Also the distributor gear is composite so it’s compatible with roller cam or non roller cam
Thank you for that info and input. As you'll see in Fridays video, set up wasn't so easy for me either.
So this doesn't come with a monitor like the Holley does? Also is that an air gap intake they provide in the kit?
ok thnks just wondered so how the truck coming along...
Do they make a black distributor cap for this unit? My engine compartment is blacked out, no red at all.
Man you get the best toys lol
Unless I’m building a long term daily driver ( which may happen at some point) I could never justify the cost of this. Of course I’ve daily driven carb engines for years with no problem. I don’t get why people think they can’t daily drive them. But today’s gas prices and the potential mpg gain is the only reason I would buy this EFI. I’ve considered for a long time building a Chevy C10 or Ford F100 daily driver instead of buying a new modern truck. In that case I could justify this EFI system. On the other hand the extra 2,000 bucks could just go torward a LS or Coyote engine in the first place instead of EFI equipping a old engine. Also money spent on a 6 speed transmission, whether auto or manual, goes a long way in increasing fuel mileage. Without a modern transmission the EFI will only go so far in regard to mpg. On second thought a tremec 6 speed would be on my list first and perhaps EFI later.
Definitely get one of these with my stimulus 😂 do you think it will fit under a c3 corvette hood? (Non L88)
his name is Eric the car guy
Wish it had an option of coil over plug and a distributor delete.
I wonder if a crank trigger system could be adapted to work with the Edelbrock EFI, since the ignition advance is handled by the ECU. I like coil-on-plug ignitions but on a Chevy the coil placement would be close to the header tubes and would be vulnerable to heat damage. You could mount the individual coils further away and run short lengths of spark plug cabling but that would negate some of the benefits of coil-on-plug. The Edelbrock system seems like the simplest plug-and-play solution.
@@buttercupstruelove340 you can build a bracket that mounts over the valve cover and away from heat. I think that would be possible, and coil per spark plug will benefit the coil build time... just my thoughts, I could be wrong
@@vendetta989 That would be a beautiful ignition setup and still maintaining quick and easy spark plug changes.
Samuel G
While that would definitely be a step up there's nothing particularly "wrong" with distributor/single coil ignitions.
The entire reason the factories and then the aftermarket went to coil on plug ignition is to prevent a POSSIBLE misfire - cars are held to emission's standards for 100,000 miles, coil on plug lessens the possibility of that happening if maintenance is ignored.
A properly maintained distributor ignition can equal the performance if properly maintained.
Way back in the "dark ages" we ran points distributors well past 7500rpm without misfires, the trick there was avoiding point bounce - that took frequent point set changes and high tension on the point spring, but it did work.
technology makes life SO much easier!
Just a heads up.
Buttercups True Love
It most certainly could be modified to use coil on plug - but there's so much more the system would have to do that it would cost a lot more.
On an engine like this - or any V8 that originally had a distributor - it would still need the bottom half of a distributor, 1st to drive the oil pump and then to tell the ECM which coil to fire and when.
The ECM on distributor ignition is told to fire the coil by the distributor, and then the rotor points to the correct cylinder to fire.
Coil on plug uses a cam and crank position sensor, from their pulses it calculates which coil to fire - this requires a much more sophisticated ECM and those two sensors - adapting those sensors takes a bit of work.
Chrysler/Jeep did just that on the 4.0 online 6 - they added the crank sensor back by the flywheel and used a single pulse from a sensor in a "stub" distributor for the cam pulse. (the distributor runs at the same speed as the camshaft).
A lot of work to do at home.
There are systems made (F.A.S.T. is one company) like that, but they're MUCH more expensive!
I like that your using MPI and it looks nice. But this might sound crazy but I’m not really a fan of the 4 barrel look on the throttle body. To me it doesn’t go with the era of that truck because none of them were carb. Nice setup though.
They were TBI which looks very similar to a carburetor. See the episode where I pulled the engine.
I have a 89 chevy c1500 with a 350 would it be hard to make everything work with it Dakota gauges ?
To be perfect, they should sell a kit with fuel pump, hoses and clamps.
mine didn't work right out of the box and edelbrock wasn't any help. before you think i did something wrong after a week of jumping through their techs hoops it started working like it should. it worked great for about a 100 miles now its back to running
rough. again they dont seem to want to stand by their product
Nice
I got the xt and it doesnt come with everything needed I had to get a water sensor plug because they have two areas for the water sensor and I had a list of little things needed like their gaskasinch thing totally spelling that wrong to lazy to use google and such
But it runs great till after 4 hours the o2 sensor stopped working and for some reason theirs cost 250$ to replace I got them to do it this time put they had a tantrum about how their is no way it could of been defective.
would this be something better for the fairmount,Eric?
In my opinion, this isn't just quite a complete engine management system, because it lacks the high pressure/high throughput fuel pump (as well as possibly an electronically controlled regulator for the fuel pressure). With that, you'd have complete control over your engine from the tablet, but without it, you only have just about full control, but not completely ;)
I don't know of a fuel pump management system that you can control via tablet. Also, I believe I mentioned the need for the additional parts at the beginning of the video. I guess that means we agree on that point. Thank you for your comment. BTW, my fuel pump, gauge, and psi regulator are linked in the description.
Well, it may not be necessary to control the fuel pressure, since most systems are set up in such a way that the rail pressure is always sufficient, so that was indeed a dumb idea of mine, to have an electronic control where none is needed. Good point about the additional parts, then it all makes sense.
We offer solutions for fuel systems as well, we just dont sell them together.
eric im lost and i need help 99 accord 5 spd 4cyl clutch pedal was soft and would stay on the ground here and there. never saw any leaks just assumed it had to be my clutch master
replaced clutch master cyl which was a pain. now i cant get it to bleed. i used a hose and bottle and theres pure fluid coming out. all air has to be out makes no sense.
i think i may have gotten a defective part. i dont know what to do anymore
Like it, but would prefer to see the Fairmont video changing out the Carb to EFI...

@@ericthecarguy Thanks I have seen both. I meant the video you hopefully shot in actually changing out the carb... taking it off. Putting the TBI on, wiring it, etc. With preferably dynoing it before and after, but that's me being picky.
Didn't have time for the Dyno, but the first video shows exactly what you're asking for. ua-cam.com/video/zf48bgB88IY/v-deo.html
Sorry, wrong video. This is the one you're looking for. ua-cam.com/video/Pr-93jijuVo/v-deo.html
Sorry carb guys. Mpi will always be better than a carb
You got that Rightt!! More complicated to work on but DEFFF more accurate.
Mpi complicated to work on? Shit is just one way electrical plugs and injectors inserted into machined holes on the intake manifold with a fuel rail that is held on literally by at most 3 bolts per bank. How is that complicated? Only thing i can think of is that tuning is done by a computer, not by ajusting some screws lol
@@meengreen52 correct, you break down on the side of the road or outside a store in a carb. ...you can grab a flat head screwdriver and adjust stuff.... fuel injection you need some kind of computer if it's engine management/fuel related.
@@meengreen52 what about a computer/resistors, capacitors, transistors to make these injectors run and spray at the correct time.
@John Johnson yea, and typewriters are easier than computers
Please dyno that engine!!
@ericthecarguy Did it come with intake manifold bolts?
I wonder if you can get this for a 1970 Pontiac 400?
how wad turning your engine with this system
Foreign and domestic parts? Looks like Vic can't complain about Chinese copies of his parts anymore...
its not complete system..... you need at least 43 psi at the rail, so if your swapping from carb to fuel injected you need to supply your own fuel delivery system... the box is abit misleading.....I have the system in my 86 k10 blazer with the 350 as well. and you can get better injectors to deliver more fuel for the bigger HP engines.
About $1,000 cheaper then equivalent holley terminator x. And more capable.
