Eric, Really appreciate that an experienced mechanic such as yourself also shows your mistakes. I really appreciate your honesty and your concern for getting us all the proper information. Plus that truck really ROCKS! Nice work and thank you.
The only thing that matters is how a car makes you feel. And judging on the beaming smile across your face Eric, that truck sure does make you feel good.
Good choice on the Ross pistons and filing those burs off. It really makes a guy a happy to see a son go through trials and succeed in rebuilding his dads truck. Hope you have many more happy miles with your dad. You’ll never forget them.
This video made my day! Seeing the stress and admitting you are " at wits ends". Then seeing the joy! That was a Heck of a lot of work and I'm so glad it paid off! A impressive mechanic you are!!😀👍
@@ericthecarguy .... why dont you use fibre exhaust gasket and soak them in water over night put them on and dry them over night, it worked for my SBCHEV i built it for NO2... i never had any exhaust leaks ...
Great victory on fixing the Chevy truck! The successful test drive and the joy not just Eric felt but all the ETCG fans was priceless! We have to savor the victories because they somehow don’t come often enough. Way to go Eric!!
Currently have a 94 K1500 my late father ordered brand new from the factory, she is rusty and got over 500k km on it but I am working on getting it back to how it was before it was a farm truck for 30 years. I am envisioning having that same smile on my face when its all done! Love these videos, keep up the good work!
I’m so happy for you Eric! You can actually see the joy and relief in your smile and attitude while driving the truck. It sounds mean too!! There is nothing more satisfying than fixing your own engine/car stuff. 👍🏼
Seeing Eric so excited at his accomplishment, yet not tooting his own horn like he's the Master really shows how down to earth he is and how humble he was through this learning curve. We all should aspire to his level of modesty. Cheers Eric! Zip~
Hey Eric Kevin here from Australia. Congratulations isn't it a great feeling when it just all comes together like you intended it to be . The video series on Dads Truck has not only been enjoyable but the knowledge your sharing has been extremely instrumental in getting my own project up to where it is today . Thankyou. ✌ Peace.
Of all the video you’ve busted your ass to produce, the best moment of all, is genuine smile and joy you exuded over the success of this build. I felt happy for you, just feeling your joy. Congrats on a job well done.
The joy on your face when you hit the gas shows all of the journey was worth it. The initial build, the rebuild and of course the final test drive. My youngest son and I always enjoy watching your videos. My son keeps asking "think he'll do more with the Element?"
It's so cool that you've ironed all the issues out. It can be VERY disheartening to have to go back into a job you thought was complete... The plus side is we all learned a great deal from the experience because you shared it with us! So thanks for that!

Way to come back Eric, now thats one healthy sounding small block chevy-!! About my favorite engine since I was young. I was a mechanic back in the early 70's through late 80's.
Great job Eric! Just seeing that enthusiasm and smile on your face is priceless. We all know the feeling of despair then sheer happiness when facing trials and tribulations and fixing them during projects! It brings me great joy to see that you figured it out, fixed it and enjoying it .

Congrats on getting everything sorted out! I'm also running Pro-Flo 4 and have been very happy with their customer service. I've occasionally had trouble getting my tablet to reconnect to my ECU as well, but I found the best fix has been to close the Etuner app and then re-open it. It links back up right away.
NICE! Sounds friggin great! I remember that same feeling when I got my '71 C20 crate engine dialed in, and also when I completely restored my '74 Yamaha RD350 2-stroker. Had to do alot of painstaking timing and jetting tweaks on the bike, but once I got it right, that front wheel didn't touch the ground until I shifted to the next gear. 😁 Congrats, Eric! 👍🍻
Bravo, Eric!! What an incredible journey that you have come to this point! Nice tear down, analysis and rebuild. Your CR seems right for a NA engine on pump gas. Glad you sorted it. I know what it feels like when something goes wrong after building an engine I spent a fortune building my V8 and it dropped a valve seat after only 200 miles destroyed 2 pistons and all had to be rebalanced. But there was a plus side I managed to fit some stage 3 racing heads to replace the ones I built it with so more HP.
Man this video really made me happy. I finally finished assembly of my engine and I'm ready to drop it in. Its been about 2 months since I last drove my camaro and I'm really exited about the first start but very nervous at the same time.
